Please accept this letter, resume and application as evidence of my interest in your open Police Officer 1 position (DMH7_PO1_11/4/15) advertised on governmentjobs.com. With my undergraduate background in environmental science and biology along with direct experience in medicine, I would make a valuable contribution to Ohio in this position. A couple of months ago, I started watching “The Wire” and similar shows, this piqued my interested in becoming a police officer. These shows made me aware and interested in police work for example; the aspects of running investigations and how unusual the job can be. I have an inquisitive mind, this leads me to want to discover the truth. I want to put the pieces in my head by myself and get my own view on the matter. Working as a teacher taught me to use the information that was gathered, ,like planning lessons but, at the same time using my own judgement. Another trait I like about policing is the unusual work environment, I may be presented with emergencies, strange hours and other unknown situations that might arise. Dealing with the unfamiliar excites me the most, which is one of the reasons I left America to teach.
Working overseas, I have been thrusted into many unknown and unusual

Firstly, Commissioner DeVillain is proposing to eliminate the requirement for partial or completed tertiary education. Secondly, it is being proposed that psychological testing should be removed from the selection process. At first she was not quite sure on what to do with her career pathway. She wanted a job where she could be able to help others and her community. Lopez says that having many of her friends being police officers is what got her more into law enforcement. She says hanging out around her friends telling her stories about being officers made her really want to be a part of the law enforcement department. However, she says it was a very hard decision to make knowing the fact that she would have to work long hours and being with her family was very important to her. In the end, she decided

In order to diminish police brutality, excessive force, and prejudice behaviors in the police officers, several actions must be set in motion. The police hiring process, training, in-field monitoring, and disciplinary actions must be adjusted to eliminate discriminatory actions against citizens. Likewise, it is a necessity for citizens to be informed of their rights, civil liberties, and how they can resolve corruption within the justice system. These actions seek to shrink the number of minorities who are racial profiled and brutalized by police officers. A more stringent hiring process, it will help curtail unethical and unprofessional police officers. Police training must be altered so that situations are handled safely and impartial. In-field monitoring with eliminate police officers from managing to catch police officers who brutality handle citizens. Disciplinary actions help to prosecute police officers to break the law. Lastly, if citizen are informed of what they should about corrupt police officers and a poor justice systems.

According to Strong Interest Inventory, it reveals that my personal values and potential skills can be a strong fit for law enforcement occupation. My highest personal preference is working with people, learn by doing, lead by taking charge, taking risks, and enjoy participating in teams. Working with others enhances my interpersonal skills that can help me make quick and decisions in any circumstances.
When applying to police departments I always research the department before submitting my application. I believe that a person needs to look for departments that match their own personal mission statement. If I find a police department that has a mission statement that matches my own, I will be able to have a long career there while reducing the risk of getting burnt out. When researching Oshkosh, the first thing that interested me was the team policing philosophy. I think that having strong relationships with the community an officer serves is the most important tool for an officer to have. If a community member get to know me and can see beyond the badge I am wearing, there is a much high chance that these members will be more willing to cooperate and work with the officers. The trust developed within a community can be the most important resource a

In the past eight years as a police officer for the City of South Salt Lake, I have found that personal growth and achievement in my career have been based on certain past experiences. Such experiences have molded what my personality is today. I have found that in order to be triumphant in my personal and professional goals, it has been necessary for me to reflect not only on my strides, but also my mistakes.
I’m drawn to the field because law enforcement is more than standardized tests. It compels candidates to analyze and conceptualize data, records, reports, and problems of crime and justice. Law enforcement intelligence draws on the empathy that its candidates are dedicated to effective policies and respect the culture, socio-economics, and the foundations of the communities it
