Summary: With the recent resignation of Police Chief Charles Johnson, the city of Dover has received 53 applications for the vacant position. To sort through the applicants a four step process has been implemented. They include screening respondents, a review board in which the candidates will be interviewed and subsequently ranked, interview with City Manager Spanning and finally a meeting with the city council. It is upon the appointment of City Manager Will Spanning and the confirmation of the seven member city council that the position will be filled. Moreover, if a candidate is appointed by the Mr. Spanning and not approved by the council, the process will start all over again.
The city of Dover must also recognize the politics that go along with this type of vacancy. A number of outside players, including but not limited to O’Hara Transport, would like to see particular candidates appointed in order for personal gain, rather than public. The following is an overview of the four candidates.
· Chip Durning: As Chief Deputy of the a large sheriff’s department, Mr. Durning has twelve years of law enforcement experience, coupled with a degree in psychology, and extensive training credits.
· Tom Boyd: Like Durning, Boyd has risen to the rank of deputy chief. Mr. Boyd has eleven years of law enforcement, received a degree in criminal justice and attended a number of law enforcement training sessions. Moreover, Mr. Boyd has worked in a previous situation similar to that of Dover’s.
· Sam Warren: As a retired lieutenant of the Boston police department, Warren also offers a master’s degree in public administration. Mr. Warren has possesses a number of recommendations from senior management of the Boston police department.
· Jim Waterhouse: As a local candidate, Mr. Waterhouse as only reached the status of rural patrol officer within Dover. However, he does have the most knowledge of our local system and its problems. One must also recognize his connections to members of city council and O’Hara Transport.
Findings & Recommendations: As in the case of the O’Hara Transport company, it is not the city’s place to mind the personal interest of some over that of the public good.

In conclusion, I found the work Judd & Swanstrom on Reform Politics to be extremely useful and interesting in better understanding the background of the municipal reform movement, and some of the underlying reasons for it. In addition, they were able to do a strong job of conducting a critical analysis of reformers, and show why their policies were not positive for everyone. Nevertheless, I still feel it was lacking in its showcase of more positive examples of the municipal reform movement.
Organisms are limited by the structure of their bodies. Some creatures are capable to do great things because of the number of limbs they have, or the density of their skin. Humans in particular are extremely reliant in the capabilities that our bodies bring to us. Our bodies however, are not all dependable, as we can injure ourselves, and even lose parts of our body. To combat this loss of body, the great minds of our species have created false limbs to replace what we have lost. This great improvement to our lives is known as, the prosthetic. In recent years this technology has expanded into a new form, that combines prosthetics and robotics to make life for people
I chose to do my ride along with the Lexington Police Department. The police officer that I got to ride along with was Officer Ernesti. Officer Ernesti has an associates degree in criminal justice. After high school he attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln. He says that he wished he chose a different field to study. The reason is was because he got in a fight with a suspect and injured his arm. He was afraid that he did something severe to his arm that he would not be able to perform any police duty. If he would have had a different degree he could have fallen back to something that does not relate to criminal justice. Before getting hired by the Lexington Police Department in January of 2014 he worked in Gosper County for two years. During his time at Gosper County he was a K-9 handler.
Along the way, Vollmer was asked to conduct reviews of various police departments for which he tool leave. In 1923 he was asked to lead the Los Angeles Police Department for one year. Then in 1929, the University of Chicago hired him to be a professor of police administration in their public administra...
Earth, an endless source of wonder and beauty, produced the Great Barrier Reef. Hustling and bustling, the Reef thrives like a busy city, teeming with life. Sheltering thousands, corals, maintain the well-being of the Reef; however, the world threatens its nature and delicacy. Populations growing and technological advances increasing, the world becomes more and more disconnected with the natural world, posing an alarming risk for the planet we live on. Although many organizations try to keep the oceans clean, because of human interference and unnatural occurrences, the Great Barrier Reef needs scientific help to adapt corals to new conditions for means of survival, putting pressure on the Australian government to save their ocean environment.
It only takes one person to start a domino effect which can end up possibly saving the reef, and then when David Attenborough wisely speaks of the great barrier reef it will be how amazing it looks and how we saved it from total destruction instead of how damaged and destroyed and in danger it
Around the world, their are beautiful places called “the seven wonders of the natural world”. These sites are fantastic because of there fascinating views and the fact that they were naturally made, not by humans. One of these seven natural wonders of the natural world is the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is located off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The Great Barrier Reef was formed by corals growing on submerged islands. The sea level then continued to rise, “leading to more corals growing and forming.” (Zimmerman). The Great Barrier Reef is “a mosaic of 2,900 individual reefs” and can be “seen from space and is not only the world's largest coral reef system but also the largest structure

The Great Barrier Reef Management Authority identified in an outlook plan for the reef that climate change is the long term threat that will destroy the reef. The Australian Government and Queensland officials have formally agreed to undertake an assessment on the Great Barrier Reef and the routes taken in order to maintain the reef’s beauty. A public group has been set up, allowing for people to have their say in how to protect the reef. There is a Long-Term Sustainability Plan for the Great Barrier Reef being undertaken by Australian and Queensland officials. This plan involves both costal officials and those of the general public that want to get involved. Parts of the Great Barrier Reef are over 18 million years old. During this time sea levels have changed, with the Great Barrier Reef being left high and dry during the last ice age, turning into grassy plains. Sea levels rose as ice caps melted around 12 000 years ago, allowing corals to reestablish on old remnant reefs. It is the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem. The Great Barrier Reef is home to 1500 species of fish, 400 species of coral, 40000 species of Mollusk, 500 species of sea weed 215 species of birds, 16 species of sea snake and 6 species of turtle. However over time this diversity is rapidly decreasing, it is vital that the Great Barrier Reef is protected.
The Great barrier reef has had many recent hardships, including water pollutants and the increasing water temperature. Although it may be too late to save this particular reef we the people must not be so nearsighted to the
The key characteristics of community policing are as follows: Police officers are usually called upon to be particularly thoughtful, creative problem solvers. They are asked to listen to the concerns of community members, to logically reason out the roots of problems, to identify and research potential answers, to implement solutions, and to assess results. Police officers work in partnership with concerned citizens. The second characteristic is that police officers are visible and accessible component of the community and work with youths and other community members top address delinquency problems. On the third characteristic, police officers patrol a limited number of jurisdictions on foot. The so-called foot patrol officers are believed to be more approachable and offer a comforting presence to citizens. The fourth and last characteristic that will be mentioned on this paper is that the community policing have decentralized operations, which allows officers to develop greater familiarity with the needs of various constituencies in the community and to adapt procedures to accommodate those needs.
The Great Barrier Reef is found off the coast of Queensland, Australia in the Coral Sea and it is the “world’s largest reef system” (greatbarrierreef.org). According to unmuseum.org/7wonders/greatreef.com, the Great Barrier Reef is more than 1600 miles long and it covers an area of more than 133,000 square miles. The reef system is composed of over 2900 individual reefs and has over 900 islands.
