Staying Motivated
Staying motivated is an important part of succeeding in college and in life, but it can be hard sometimes. You can quickly become overwhelmed by the amount of work that you have to do and the amount of time you have to do it in. You can quickly become stressed about all that needs to be done, and you may get in a bad mood that will last the whole semester, if not longer. You may even lose sight of your long term goals and become frustrated with your current situation. However, there are many ways to combat these and stay motivated. First you should make a schedule and stick to it! Sticking to the schedule will then help out with the next problem which is attitude, which will in turn help you keep your long term goals in sight and remind you why you are in college and what you are working for.
It may seem overwhelming with all the

You have to keep a positive attitude and just believe. Don’t let fear get in the way of doing the work you know needs to be done. Dewitt Jones has said repeatedly in many interviews and inspirational videos “Don’t give up! Keep trying! Take risks!” You never know what you are capable of until you try. Don’t let your fear of failing cause you to fail.
In my own experience, I’ve found the hardest part of an assignment is starting it. The fear that you won’t be good enough ebbs as you start the assignment and stop worrying about how to do it. Dewitt Jones has also said, “Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity, take action now.” The longer you think about the assignment, and what you think the teacher wants to see, the more stressed you become and the less likely you are to even attempt the assignment.
Your mood will drastically improve when you keep up with assignments, which is extremely important to staying motivated. Plan time for breaks and activities that you enjoy, but make sure you always have adequate study time for your
Is it true that the use of utterances and linguistic functions in verbal communication, wherein the comprehensive communicative act, comprise more rhetorical power than the written word? Why people generally prefer face-to-face interaction to discuss significant issues rather than using electronic media at our fingertips? “Why do people meet in debating chambers to make rules and reach political positions when they could surely more easily handle the complexity of the issues and the large amount of relevant data by exchanging documents and be done with it?” (Furniss, 2004, P. 1) This article will help you in deciding if the spoken word has more rhetorical power
Motivation in college is different. For starters, as a student, I have to be self-motivated. My parents are not here to make sure I get my work done and go to class. I have to find motivation in myself to go to class and get my work done.
There have been countless times in my life where I have struggled to stay focused on a task ahead of me. I always plan out my work time ahead in order for me to complete a task, but every time I find that I have to revise my plan every day closer to the deadline. The little work that I should have done each day turns into a tremendous amount of work before the due date. Occupying myself with other things that keep me entertained, only brings me a lot of distress at the end. As I continue to torture myself , this bad habit of mine continous to dwell inside of me. One could say that there may be many implied meanings to this concept, but nevertheless, this force that messes with me everyday is considered to be procrastination.
Even though I work in a school district where we are expected to watch videos on bullying annually, this series was eye opening to the real problem of bullying. According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development three out of ten children are a bully, victim, or both. Another statistic from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development reveals that 3.2 million youth are bullied and 3.7 million youth are the bullies. These statistics are staggering. The characteristics of bullying is repeated aggressive behavior that is carried out over time with the intent of inflicting verbal, nonverbal, or physical harm to another individual. Normal peer conflict happens infrequently between two equal
How to Deal With StressMany students go to school full time, and hold a part time job to earn money for school. Most students have about four classes, and each of the teacher’s of these classes gives an average of about an hour of homework each night; that averages out to four hours per night of homework, plus a part time job. School causes a lot of students stress because there are so many things to do, and so little time to do it. Stress is a normal part of everyone’s life; and is not a disease. It is not necessarily good or bad; however, reactions to stress can be harmful. Lack of time puts the stress on many students, and causes students to often procrastinate because they are constantly trying to meet deadlines and they don’t have the time to work on their assignments. Many students feel their grades are important; they need plenty of time to work on their work so they can do good. I can relate to them because if I get a low grade I get disgusted because I put a lot of time and effort in doing that assignment. But I think that a lot of the stress from school is caused, not only by the teachers, but also from the students to do well. Students put too much stress on themselves. A student just has to learn to manage their time well and just do as good as possible. Stress management involves the effort of that student to make emotional and physical changes.
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” (G.K. Chesterton). A soldier is a soldier no matter what. If they fight behind a screen, on the front line, or from a controller as long as they’re protecting this country, the people in it, and the people fighting for it they are honorable. Some think that because one does their fighting from a remote control drone means that they have no understanding of war, and in some ways that is true, but they are still taking someone’s life when they choose to press that button just like the solders on the front line takes someone’s life when they pull the trigger. Both people are fighting the same fight: they love the country they are defending the people in it they just do it from different standpoints. Drones
Imagine dedicating your life to a university not only on the academic level, but also the athletic level. With a full scholarship your time is dedicated to getting to class on time, finishing assignments, and making it to mandatory practices while also maintaining a strict workout schedule. With your day pretty much full of responsibilities, you do not have the time for a job to pay for anything that you may need outside of tuition, books, and housing. If your car breaks down or you run out of gas you have to pay for that out of your own pocket which is fairly difficult when you do not have an income to cover the costs and if you accept money or free services from any businesses, you could lose you eligibility as a NCAA athlete and lose your
I am adventurous. No I don't sky dive, wrestle crocodiles, or swim with sharks, but when asked by a group of friends to go cliff diving last summer, my best response was, “Sounds like fun!” I had never been afraid of heights yet have never experienced the thrill of cliff diving. All I could ask myself was, “What could go wrong?”
A second strategy I think is very useful for my college career is to set goals. This is useful for someone like me who always seems to slack off in school and give in to less important concerns. For example I would have school and work as my main priorities, but I would get distracted and end up playing video games or just hanging out doing nothing productive with my time. I decided to a set certain...
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
Being motivated is an important to being successful in studying. Cottrell (2003) suggests that, you would need to have a high level of motivation to help you stay focused and find ways to help you through any problems that may occur during studying. For instance, I will be using many steps to help me implement this skill into my studies. Sometimes you will just have to use the mind frame of just do it to motivate or you may need to create a strategy to help you. A strategy that I will use to help increase my motivation is by rewarding myself for studying, for example, once I have finished the required goals for my day I can go watch an episode of my favourite show. Another strategy to help me with my studies would be to create a motivational poster. This would be a poster placed in my study area that includes positive words, quotes and pictures that will help motivate me to be successful. Finally, reminding myself of the long term goal and what I want to achieve will help with my motivation. Whenever I experience the difficulty of sitting down to study I will follow these suggestions and they will help motivate me to keep going with what I have to
When it comes to our personal and professional lives, Managing your time efficiently should be a mastered ability. As a student, this could have a huge effect on performance and grades. Seeing that Time Management is imperative when it comes to college and success, recognizing bad habits, should be one of the first obstructions immediately eliminated from your daily schedule. Create new habits if you tend to procrastinate and start planning ahead to manage your most important priorities. According to David Allen (2001),"Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" (p.59) "changes in the way you clarify and organize all things that command your attention-could represent a significant shift in how you approach some key aspects of your day to day work." Setting up deadlines and completing your assignments a few days before the due date will eliminate the procrastination stage. Creating a list with the most important priorities first, will help sort out your assignments and eliminate stress and feeling overwhelmed.
People’s behaviour is determined by what motivates them. The aim of this essay is to discuss the essence of the motivation and psychological strengths, its evolution, a brief overview of the key theories of the employees’ motivation and behaviour analysis. Because motivation is a very strong will power to support students to complete their goal or stay focus to overcome laziness. Next, students can reward themselves after they done something good or finish their schoolwork. The reward don’t have to be big or good, a little thing like pizza or go play game to relax their brain will help them, and make them feel accomplish. The last thing to do is stay active at all time, after done schoolwork, students can go workout or just go outside and run around for thirty minutes will help them clear their brain and make them
Many don’t realize that the road to success isn’t so much a road as it is a winding,
