Competitive Sports are a Good Idea for Children Since I was six, I wanted to be a professional in a sport when I grew up. There are others like me that have wanted the same as well and the only way to start towards that goal is to start with competitive sports. That’s just one aspect that competitive sports can help at. Of course, not every kid wants to do professional sports when they grow up, but they will still learn valuable things from doing competitive sports. But that alone won’t justify that competitive sports are good for children, but there’s evidence that sports do help. Sports help assist with facing the growing obesity issue in our country, children get to learn new social and mental skills as well as hone the skills they already know, and sports are a good way for children to get away from electronics. Those are some good reasons to do competitive sports so let’s see how they help. Of course, obesity can be cut down in a variety of different ways and sports is definitely one of those ways to help. Children spend an average of six and a half hours on screens according to a BBC article in 2016. Now in 2018, we know that children are averaging more than six and a half hours a day. So just getting your child moving around in a practice or competitive game can take them away for an hour or more from all types of screens. This has shown to work for me at least. Personally, I use Steam (the site/company that I use to download games) and they track your gaming hours for the past two weeks. Before baseball season, I would average 27-30 hours every two weeks, but once baseball season started for me, my hours decreased by 5-10 hours. That only should show that sports take kids away from screens. So sports are taking children’s time from away from
Playing competitive sports affect young people in a good way. They are good because you have that commitment and now its hard to back down. In the "no" section of 'Have Youth Sports Become Too Intense?", it states "Intense training promotes self-confidence, self-discipline, and commitment." Student athletes can agree with all of this because it teaches discipline and a lot of other things. Parents can disagree with my reason, because they don't want their child to go through with intense training. They think it's way too much for the child.
Research shows that introducing sports at a young age can make a positive impact on a child’s life. Sports gives children a great foundation in life. It teaches them lessons that will help them grow into well rounded adults. Although there are many people who will say that children playing competitive sports is a negative, studies prove that competitive sports creates competence, confidence, connections, and character.
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.
The emotion is intense. Everyone in the gym is on the edge of his or her seat. Time is expiring as the final shot for the win sails through the air. The buzzer sounds… Athletics are a critical element of high school lives--whether it be playing for or supporting one’s team. In order to accomplish success in a season, these supporting individuals are forced to rely on a select few of premier athletes. From day one of tryouts, these athletes are crafted and molded based on their hard work as well as their ability to play in accordance with the coach’s style. At a varsity level, where victory has his or her job on the line, coaches should not be required to play every member of the team equally.
Competitive sports are a very hot topic right now, and people have different views on children participating in them. Some may think that competitive sports help children to be healthier, because they are very active during practices and games. Although this is a good reason, sports can lead to concussions and other dangerous injuries. The truth of the matter is that sports can be very dangerous, and they can lead to many other problems. Children shouldn’t be playing competitive sports because they can get concussions or other dangerous injuries, they can develop excessive amounts of stress, and they can develop poor attitude.
Once again, after a successful season, Shadle Park was defeated by a Big 9 school in the first game of the regional tournament. This reoccurring event has led many to believe that the four year football program puts GSL students at a disadvantage compared to other districts. A junior high school football program would not only increase the competitiveness of the students but also have more important consequences.
For some people sports is just a game, to athletes it is their life. According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) an athlete can only participate in their own school’s sports or club sports (OHSAA). This means at New Knoxville Local School, my school, my brother or any other athlete won’t be able to play football while attending school at New Knoxville. My intention is to make it possible to go to school at one place, but play sports at another school.
Too much screen time can make it hard to sleep, generate difficulty in focus and attention, produce anxiety and depression problems, raise the risk of obesity, and create difficulty recognizing other’s emotions. These are few reasons why our school should participate in Shut Down Your Screen Week: to temporarily free ourselves from the effects of our computers, iPhones, TVs, tablets, and screens in general. As a matter of fact, the National Institute of Health, recommends taking a week off from screens (essentially Shut Your Screen Week), and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends not allowing TVs in children’s bedrooms: as well as not having more than 2 hours of entertainment screen time per day. And screen time should be avoided altogether
All the time, you hear adults say they wish they were children again. It’s because children get to have fun, they don’t have to worry about so many responsibilities. As adults, we have to provide for ourselves and maybe even our families. We have to make sure our priorities are taken care of before we can do what we actually want to do. Children on the other hand, do not have to do this. They get to enjoy life and have fun without so much pressure on their shoulders. Competitive sports do not let kids be kids. Competitive sports are not what is best for children because the children ae being pushed too far by their parents, their bodies are not developed enough to endure so many collisions, and their losing can harm their self-esteem.
Confucius once said, "he who does not do well is less guilty than he who pushes too hard." People found that competitive sports are often physically straining and it is detrimental to proper emotional development. This blows away the misconception that competitive sports create a healthy and engaging atmosphere for kids. This and an overly strong obsession with winning create a toxic mix for the child’s wellbeing. People have begun to realize the world of competitive may be doing more harm than good for their children. Parents have also begun to notice that competitive sports often injure their children severely and also make the child feel left out, which in turn is detrimental to the child 's emotional health. Therefore, competitive sports
There are way too many students all over the world today that are overweight, and even obese. A major way to reduce or eliminate these numbers would be to get more participation in high school athletics. Sports do not only provide a healthier body, but also teaches lessons for later on in life, not just good body health. It helps students learn to accept others, and also learn how to face tough decisions like adversity. Another big skill students would learn is how to accept others no matter what gender, race, or ethnicity. High school students should be mandated to participate in a sport in order to promote a healthy lifestyle.
According to (Drea, 2014), long hours playing videogames can negatively affect your child’s performance in school, if he’s preoccupied with videogames. . He can fail to work at his optimum level because he’s exhausted from a late night of videogame playing.
In the video, “The Benefits of Competitive Sports for Kids”(Hawkins)it states, “Sports will teach kids important life lessons.” This shows that kids should play competitive sports because life lessons they teach are very useful. This is important because life lessons can be used everyday for the rest of your life. In the article ¨What are the Benefits of Competitive Sports for Youth?¨(Davis 2014) states ¨Competitive sports...can also help kids learn important life lessons about teamwork and fair play. Kids should be involved in competitive sports because they teach kids important life lessons.¨
Using an excessive screen time can cause problems with child development and lack of social skills. Instead of going and playing outside kids rather sitting in front of the TV or sit cooped up in their rooms and playing video games. They don’t want to play of social activities games such as board games or outside games. This causes them to become obese and also causes their body to become hunched from staying bent over all day. Essentially, I see, the more time a kid spends looking at a screen, the less time they are being active. I noted that my kids after using iPhone or iPod for long period of time for example one hours, have difficulty stopping the game and starting to read a book instead. They become incapable of concentrating long enough to read and quickly lose attention on the book because they begin to concern about something else. I am scare that a child who is addicted to a game, may forget the excitement of outside, and think that the game is better than life. I think I am the kind of
It 's been outrageous , how many kids get injured per year playing youth sports for school and organizations. The youth who play sports receive plenty medical attention throughout the year due to injuries cause from actions made occuring in games. Health plays a big part in sports because if your are are not healthy many things can go wrong with the body including dehydration, heart problems , and muscle spasm.
