Students should never get any privacy. Have you noticed how dangerous schools have become? Students carry backpacks with them everywhere, teachers do not know what is in them. Also, we do not have metal detectors to help catch any dangerous things that may be brought into the schools. Although students have there right to privacy, public schools should be able to go through students backpacks and locker. To maintain a safe and learning environment. School should be a place for learning and NOT for drugs. School administrators are there to ensuring a safe, supportive, and healthy school environment where children can learn and reach their full potential. To help students reach their full potential the school has taken measures to prevent tobacco, alcohol and drug use among students. The school has come up with programs to help ensure a safe learning environment for students and teachers. Did you know that drugs can damage the brain which helps you learn? Also, all students in school think about when is the next time they're going to get high, or do they even have the money for it. Drugs just don't affect the learning. It can cause you to do way worse things. …show more content…
Which means being at school would be an unsafe place. Certain drugs can lead to aggression and violent behavior. The main reason for a student to be doing drugs at school is drug abuse. Drug abuse is correlated with violent behavior, such as bringing guns to school and other risk-taking behaviors. If a student becomes more violent by using a drug, he or she is putting herself and those around her in great danger. Some drugs, on the other hand, increase a person’s aggressive and violent behavior by a lot. Drugs can lead to death and have negative effects on
It’s important not to overlook the fact that young people’s privacy is equally as important as anyone else’s. The fact that they’re young students increases the need for student privacy, as our minds can be more vulnerable and fragile. Privacy can ensure feelings of safety and comfort. The first and one of the most important reasons locker searches shouldn’t be conducted is because of how it affects student trust. When students are informed their lockers can be searched at any time, it may give them the impression that they’re not trusted and are doing something wrong, even if that student is completely innocent.
Do you think locker searches are invading student's privacy or does it help the school to know who is making bad choices, therefore needs help correcting their bad decisions? Some people believe that it is necessary for drugs and stolen property searches but others don’t support the idea. Locker searches are unnecessary unless someone reported something that costs twenty dollars or more missing, OR someone reports that another student that is bringing/ useing drugs.
The school locker is usually the only private space available to a student in the environment of the school. So it focuses many of the main issues involved in privacy of the students. The 4th Amendment of the US Constitution states “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or things to be seized.”
The amount of students who are or are in danger of becoming homeless has increase on our country over the years. Although society structured people to attend post-secondary school in order to receive a sustained career, there are some cases where college is simply too expensive. Many homeless students are not receiving a proper education due to these circumstances, which results of them dropping out. Because of this situation, there are different methods to combat students dropping out of college due to financial issues. However, increasing taxes and/or tuition would not benefit the situation without an increase of society’s knowledge and awareness in the topic.
According to the National Education Association, at least 100,000 students bring guns to school, 160,000 students skip classes because they fear physical harm, 40 students are killed or hurt by firearms, nearly 6,250 teachers are threatened with bodily injury, and 260 teachers are physically assaulted. These facts are not based on once year, but as every single school day. Could one even imagine what the numbers might look like on scale for a month of school, let alone a whole year? So would starting with searching lockers really be a step to far to try and lower the numbers? Some may think yes due to the school invading the students’ privacy. The majority of people though will say no, doing searches of student’s lockers is not a bad thing. Though there may be a few draw backs to conducting locker searches, the benefit of them far outweigh them. Schools should have the right to do searches of the student lockers because it will deter unwanted things, they have permission under loco parentis, and it would allow administers to make sure for safer schools.
Ideally schools in the United States are considered by both parents and students alike to be “safe-havens” where parents can trust their children to learn and remain safe during the day and where students can feel safe in a well-maintained learning environment. However within this fully regulated government service, there are often debates over proper classroom environments, teaching tactics, and privacy issues. Today the main privacy issue in public schools is where to draw the line between keeping the school safe and maintaining the privacy of the students (Boomer par. 19). Searches and seizures in schools are not recent issues; however they are becoming more public now than in recent years.
All schools that have locker searches let the students know that it is policy if the student isn't hiding anything then there shouldn't be an issue. 77% of most kids would be happier and 55% would learn more if schools where safer. Keeping kids safe is what it's all about; no one is talking about strip searches, it's just open you locker, open your bag and be on your way. American public schools are not safe, and need to have greater security measures to ensure the students safety; our country should not have to live through another Columbine.
Drug abuse is a serious problem especially with America’s youth since marijuana and other drugs are very harmful to the developing brains of adolescents. Some of the most commonly abused drugs are Marijuana, Cocaine, Xanax, and Adderall. (Health and Life) Some of these drugs are more harmful while others aren’t as bad. “About 36.4% of students in the average high school class smoke marijuana regularly and 60% of high school seniors do not view regular marijuana use as harmful.” (National Institute on Drug Abuse) Though alcohol and cigarette abuse has gone down in the past couple of years new drugs have been found. 30 to 40% of all high school graduates have admitted to using a stimulation known as Adderall to help them study, Adderall is prescribed to children who have ADHD to help them concentrate, when people without ADHD use Adderall they become hyperactive. Many high school and college students take Adderall since it keeps you up all night and helps concentrate while studying for finals or a test. Though Adderall might help you pass a test it’s very addictive and those who take it often start to lose focus without it.
In the United States high schools dealing with student’s privacy are becoming more of a huge problem and more students are feeling that schools are validating their privacy rights. In recent discussions of teen privacy in school, is whether if schools go overboard sometimes and feel they can search the student’s because they are using school property or are on school property. Some people feel that students do need more privacy from their schools because they need their privacy just like everyone else, and with this more reasonability they will have to get them ready when they leave school. On the other hand, some think that by giving more privacy to the student’s more poor decisions would come out of it than strong ones. Students that have
In this paper, it will analyse the implementation of language, Literacy and numeracy (LL&N) and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) training in an employment services organisation to improve employability of clients. The analysis will examine the organisational factors impacting on the implementation, key features of LL&N and TESOL, effects on clients and the organisation and obstacles to the implementation. The organisational context Kangaroo Island is an island off South Australia with an estimated residential population of 4,513. Among these there are an estimated 4 percent that are born in non-English speaking countries and 3.3 percent that speaks a language other than English at home.
There is right from wrong and it is wrong for student to do drugs unless prescribed by a doctor. It will benefit students’ lives by making right and smart choices. The goal of high school is to educate and prepare students for a successful future, but how can a students future be successful if they are doing drugs? Research and statistics have shown that drug use and dropout rates go hand in hand. The annual dropout rate in the United States is extremely high. One in seven students will drop out of high school before receiving their diploma and over thirty percent of these dropouts use drugs illegally. Many high schools around the nation...
The second reason is to help promote a healthy lifestyle for students. Teachers believe that by engaging students in drug education programs, it can help to benefit the well-being of the students so that healthy lifestyles are reached to the fullest potentials. Lastly, teachers have found it to be important because teachers can act as a partner with parents, guardians, and other members of the community, in order to ensure that students are being provided with accurate and developmentally appropriate drug education. The school can provide knowledge to students in an area that is sometimes difficult for parents, guardians, and the community to talk about. The second step towards the implementation of drug education is for teachers to look at the support that will be given towards the teaching.
Should school uniforms be required? Some say that uniforms help students focus on academics instead of fashion. Others believe that students should have the freedom to choose what they wear to school in order to express their differences and their uniqueness. After considering both sides of the issue, I strongly believe that uniforms should be introduced in primary public and private schools. Wearing school uniforms does not promote unfair comparisons between student’s incomes in terms of clothing; they aid students in developing their inner qualities instead of focusing on the outer aspects of themselves in the crucial earlier years of their lives, and provides a platform for practicing discipline.
Few people deny the dangers of drug use, while many teens are curious about drugs. They should stay away from drugs because drugs affect our health, lead to academic failure, and jeopardizes safety. Drugs are used from a long period of time in many countries. The concentration of drugs has increased from late 1960’s and 1970’s. Drugs can quickly takeover our lives. Friends and acquaintance have the greatest influence of using drugs during adolescence.
Have you ever considered why students should wear a school uniform? For a long time, scholars have debated worldwide, whether students should wear a school uniform or not. After a lot of research, I can evidently see that people still have diverse opinions about this subject as some people think school uniform is essential, some are just fine with its existence, and some think it is useless.
