High schools should not have exit exams because students need to be able to access college. In the first paragraph, the quote by Nelson Mandela about how having an education can make a difference in the world, it makes us better people and helps us face challenges the world throws at us. For an example, why do you think student’s parents or guardians work very hard to ensure their children get an education even though, it’s very expensive. With exit exams, the students who don’t pass will not get hold of access to college and an education. Everyone has witnessed those who don’t carry an education, leads to problems in their households, whether they can’t provide for their families, themselves, or even become homeless. However, there are those students who contain a strong will to work hard and put their effort in and actually want to college, learn, and receive an education? Is it fair? Exit exams are just tests that are ‘supposed’ to help us prepare for college. However, the states whom tried to use the exit exam such as (Connecticut, Idaho, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington), after gathering data over students who taken the exam, it showed exit exams had no impact on their academic achievements. Also, exit exams were shown to engage in no benefits and found more harm instead of helpful factors. “Exit exams policies now influence the education of 65% of the U.S. public high school students, yet college report increasing need for remedial education” “Why graduation”. This statistic just shows us in actuality those students who take the exam didn’t encourage the students in a positive way and instead colleges need for remedial education which is a waste of time, when those students could’ve been preparing for college instead of the actual exit
