What would make your school day easier; Juggling all of your papers in your hands while pushing through the hallway or having your binders neatly packed into your bookbag? There are many school rules that keep South Western High School a wonderful place. Backpacks at South Western High School should be allowed throughout the school day because learners will be more organized and arrive to class on time.
When carrying backpacks throughout the day, students will become more organized. With backpacks having many compartments, students will be able to keep all of their papers, pencils, and even their laptop with them at all times. Students would know longer have to ask to go to their locker during class because all of their materials would be with

them. When learners carry all of their materials with them throughout the day they will be more tidy and ready for class that way teachers would be able to start the lesson right away. In addition, carrying backpacks would allow students to arrive to class on time. Since backpacks can fit all the supplies needed for the day, students would know longer have to stop at their locker between classes. This assures that all learners would be in the classroom and ready to learn when the bell rings. When not having to stop at your locker between class, hallway traffic will improve. No longer will people have to squeeze between others just to get to their locker. At the same time, people would not have to stop to pick up dropped items on the floor. Allowing backpacks throughout the day will help students arrive to class on time and not have to spend their minutes between classes fighting through hallway traffic. Although the opposition claims that students should not be allowed to carry backpacks throughout the day, their reasons are unfounded.
The opposition claims that carrying book bags could be a safety hazard. With all the students bags in the classroom, many people could trip and fall. However, the chance of someone tripping is very unlikely. With all the space provided underneath desks, student can just place their belongings by their feet. In addition, the opposition also claims that carrying backpacks could increase the chance of back injuries. However, the time the students would be carrying these backpacks is minimal. Students only have six minutes to travel from class to class, meaning they would only be carrying their belongs for 18 minutes during the school day. Certainly, in the wrong case students could hide weapons and drugs in their backpack, but prohibiting the use of backpacks during the school day is wrong. You should not take away something for one person's mistakes.
In conclusion, Students at South Western High School should be allowed to carry book bags with them throughout the school day. Students days will become a lot easier. They will arrive to class on time and prepared to learn. Allowing backpacks will help maintain South Westerns great reputation of successful
learners.
Harry Potter should not be banned from school libraries. Taking it from schools would not stop students from reading it. Even though it was not at the school. It would be at the public library. They also could barrow it from a field of family members or friends. Finally, they could just go online and read or buy it.
Prompt #1: With respect to Romance At Sea, what was your ordered ranking of islanders (1 through 5) and the adjectives / descriptive words you used to describe your 1st and 5th ranked people? What kinds of connections can you make between this activity and the notion of “social processes in organizations?”
In order to understand how banning books in schools affect student learning, it is important to understand why books are banned in the first place. If parents describe a book as inappropriate or offensive for children, they can complain about it to the school district to have it banned. If the school district agrees with the parents, they will ban the book from the school curriculum and forbid teachers from teaching the book to students. Parents might think that the book goes against religious or moral...
“The biggest drawback to a school locker search is the lack of trust students may feel as a result of actions they see as an invasion of privacy,” is what Dennis Hartman had to say on the matter. For instance, if a student had harmful things in their locker, it’d be easier to find and confiscate them. This would prevent a potentially dangerous situation, and the student would face proper consequences. Whilst I agree that locker searches could definitely potentially keep schools safer, I still believe that there are better ways to enforce safety than going through a student’s possessions, which could be mentally damaging.
Well, I think so. Students can carry their backpacks so they don’t drop their books and papers. Another reason is kids won’t be late. Why someone would disagree with me is because the bookbag might take too much room in the classroom.
The amount of students who are or are in danger of becoming homeless has increase on our country over the years. Although society structured people to attend post-secondary school in order to receive a sustained career, there are some cases where college is simply too expensive. Many homeless students are not receiving a proper education due to these circumstances, which results of them dropping out. Because of this situation, there are different methods to combat students dropping out of college due to financial issues. However, increasing taxes and/or tuition would not benefit the situation without an increase of society’s knowledge and awareness in the topic.
One of the greatest controversies that is spreading throughout high schools in the United States is parents and their children against the enforcement of their school’s uniform policy. More schools have been adopting uniform policies within the past decade. Rules contained in the policy that are implemented range from wearing certain types of tops (shirts) in specified colors to students being required to tuck in their shirts. In the past, uniforms were exclusively for students who attended private schools because they were “well-off”, but now uniforms are being seen more frequently in public schools on students of all economic levels. Having gone through a school system that considered adopting a uniform policy, I would have to press against the issue of mandated uniforms, because it is simply un-American and unjust.
Book banning has a long history and has made both positive and negative impact on readers. People have been trying to stop books from being banned, but there are also people that are trying to ban books to protect their children. Many books have been challenged and even banned because of the “inappropriate” content the books contain such as profanity. Books have started to get censored since the 1500’s and has threatened many cultures. The people who ban and censor books think that they are protecting the readers from the information, but it is secluding the readers from getting more ideas. This creates a negative impact on the readers, especially high school students. People don’t realize that book censorship limits the way they view the world. Many books have been banned in American high schools because of political, religious, sexual, and social reasons. Book banners and parents should be more lenient in what the book expresses because it teaches readers, such as high school students, many lessons that will help them in life.
...by the school board and library, as well as teachers that have their overall judgment on what can be appropriate, interesting, engaging and useful for the students, and that controversial issues are not something to be afraid of, but instead, a useful learning tool that will prepare children not only for college, but for life as well. Students are a lot more mature than they are given credit for, and when a material that involves subjects such as language or violence is introduced well to a class by the teacher, the class will be interested and motivated to discuss maturely, and not be impressed by the subject or start acting out of influence by it. If we ban every book that deals with considered “explicit,” or “uncomfortable” content, then we are denying students a great opportunity of being informed on real issues, and forming their own ideas of right and wrong.
Choosing what to wear for the day. This is what most students are thinking about when they wake up. Students need the latest fashion in order to fit in, but some clothing may not be acceptable to wear in school. School dress codes are denying students their right to dress how they want, but the dress code is important for the students and their learning. Students are beginning to stand up and want to be heard. Some students are taking action and want the dress code to become less strict but some schools are doing the opposite for safety issues and for the students healthy learning environment. Dress codes are important for a strong and healthy learning environment and is also reducing violence in many schools around the country.
School dress codes vary depending on the upbringing and culture of the writers and the enforcers of the rules, and they cannot always be applied to everyone. G.A. Buie, principal of Eudora High School in Kansas says, “Sometimes as an adult, you almost get embarrassed
Students are becoming more concerned with what they are wearing and they are being distracted from the learning process. Although many students are not happy with the strictness some of the school’s new uniform policies, the policies should stay in place in order to increase school safety, devote student’s attention to learning and reduce bullying and peer pressure.
Should school uniforms be required? Some say that uniforms help students focus on academics instead of fashion. Others believe that students should have the freedom to choose what they wear to school in order to express their differences and their uniqueness. After considering both sides of the issue, I strongly believe that uniforms should be introduced in primary public and private schools. Wearing school uniforms does not promote unfair comparisons between student’s incomes in terms of clothing; they aid students in developing their inner qualities instead of focusing on the outer aspects of themselves in the crucial earlier years of their lives, and provides a platform for practicing discipline.
Have you ever considered why students should wear a school uniform? For a long time, scholars have debated worldwide, whether students should wear a school uniform or not. After a lot of research, I can evidently see that people still have diverse opinions about this subject as some people think school uniform is essential, some are just fine with its existence, and some think it is useless.
Laptops in school are a bad idea because they would provide students with a constant source of distraction. Matt Richtel is the winner of “Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting” for his article in The New York Times. Mr. Richtel wrote“[Laptop] computers and cellphones, and the constant stream of stimuli they offer, pose a profound new challenge to focusing and learning” (Richtel). Students will stray away from their schoolwork and waste time on less important distractions like social networking and media such as Twitter and YouTube. There is a clear relationship between laptop use in class and a lower overall course performance (CanWest News Service). It is apparent now that laptops put students at a disadvantage, and that textbooks would be the better learning tool. Carrie Fried, a very well respected researcher at Winona State University stated in an interview“[Laptops] clearly did interfere with students learning the material, and it was clearly a distraction for everyone around them” (Fried). Laptops may bring exciting new technology to the classroom, but this will only be at the cost of students’ focus in class, which draws away from their initial purpose¬¬¬...
