Marissa Burns Mrs. Lehman English IV 3A 19 March 2014 Rough Draft Many people would like to believe that animal cruelty doesn’t exist, but little do they know it is still happening all around the world every single day. The treatment we have on animals is unethical. It’s unreal how animal cruelty is still a thing because of the fact we live in a world of right versus wrong. Animals are looked as a form of product instead of what they really are, living breathing creatures. The use of animals in entertainment has been going on for thousands of years. Animals are forced into racing, captivity, violence, all for the sake of amusement to us. The children love to take a peek through the gates and cages of animals in zoos. People who are young and old love to watch the animals race. What people don’t know is that attending these events oftentimes means you’re supporting the abuse that is done to the animals. They have been taken out of their natural habitat, stripped from any rights they had, and forced to comply to the demands of human beings. The unfair treatment given to animals when used for entertainment purposes constitutes animal cruelty. One person might just think that animals can be safely used for entertainment purposes. If the animals are well treated then the value for the sport and entertainment can be received and stay positive from spectators. Some like to say what is done to these animals is what they were born to do. They were put on this Earth for this purpose. These animals trainers love them and are very passionate about taking care of them. As humans, we were given mastery control over animals, which makes them ours to use and do whatever with. Animals have their right to participate in sports just like we do. S... ... middle of paper ... ...ongful conditions are protected. Animals are not ours to use for entertainment, and if they are, then it should be fun to both the person and the animals. However, animals do not volunteer. Everything they do is not because they want to, it’s because they are pressured and forced to. They’re afraid of what could happen if they don’t do what they are told to do and don't want to risk the consequences. Animals contribute to the beauty and health of our living environment and for that they should be protected. Instead of using one another, we should live peacefully and in harmony. We all must take time to watch out for animal abuse in these parks and other similar establishments to help prevent the dangers that happen upon the poor, defenseless animals. Really, we are the only ones that could stand up for these animals and help put an end to this once and for all.
Rodeos take place either inside large buildings, or outside in dirt arenas. The events in a rodeo can range from bucking bulls, steer wrestling, and roping. Each event has their own rules as well as regulations. These rules keep the cowboys, and livestock safe when competing against each other. However, some people may consider rodeos as a form of animal cruelty. It is understandable why it can be seen this way because everything happens really fast, and it is hard to keep up with what’s happening in the arena. It would also be really easy to think it was hurting the animals if a person simply didn’t know everything that goes into each event. Rodeos are not animal cruelty due to all the rules, and the effort that goes into the care of each
711 million people a year sponsor the act of kidnapping, torture, and starvation around the world. If you’ve ever been to a zoo, aquarium or a Seaworld park, you’re one of those 711 million people. Lately, controversy has struck the world over the treatment of animals in those types of facilities. There are many good rehabilitation centers in zoos worldwide that help injured, endangered or ill animals, which is why a lot of people do support them. However, there is a darker side to these parks and facilities. These animals cruel pasts and hidden lives will never be heard unless we help. Help them escape their tortured lives, and see their families they were ripped from when they were only babies. Be the voice of the voiceless and shut down
... using their companionship to always have that best friend that will never let us down. Animal rights have gone far enough. There are laws to protect these animals. There doesn't need to be laws that perish our natural instincts and pastimes.
The difference between right and wrong is not always perfectly clear. A long-standing part of cultures across the world, zoological and animal parks have been around for hundreds of years. While in the past concerns and issues regarding the ethical problems zoos seem to impose were less prominent, in recent times the rise of animal rights activist groups and new generational values have influenced the way people view these parks. Critics believe that zoos are an unnatural habitat for animals and force them to live in captivity, having a negative impact on their health. Yet, there are still many who fully support zoos, citing business and educational reasons.
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
There are a lot of people who absolutely love the rodeo and come to watch and support it. Then on the other hand, there are those people that hate it and are totally against it because they believe it is abusive to the animals. Without the animals, rodeos would not be possible; therefore, the care of the animals is of the utmost importance to all participants and staff. A writer for Beef Magazine.com says, “Rodeos put animal health and welfare in front of fans. How rodeo has used veterinary information to prepare for—and respond to—a range of questions can be an example for the beef industry.” (Ryan, 2013). This proves that during the rodeos they show that the animal’s health is being taken care of and that they do it in front of fans so they can see what all the veterinarian is doing and how they are taking care of them. It’s significant because people are saying animals are abused and aren’t taking care of but the veterinarians are taking care of the animals right in front of them. People that go to the rodeo and watch and if they don’t have any experience of what’s going on or the agriculture of it they target for animal activist. (Ryan 2013). Animal activists are people who don’t take care of animals, but claim to care. Instead, they abuse them. They have no feelings for animals at
The calf ropers chase and wrestle the young scared calves to the ground and roughly tie their limbs tightly together with painful rope. If these cowboys and rangers truly care for their animals and put their welfare first, then they wouldn’t subject them to such traumatic injury and potential mental illness. Horseracing results in similar tragedies as rodeos do. As soon as a horse becomes injured or useless, it’s killed. In no way is that fair. These aren’t machines. They are live beings. Circus' use means of electric shock, assault, whippings, and withholding food as tools to force animals to perform excessively unnatural and unnecessary "tricks". The fact that this blatant exploitation of animals is still legal is truly reprehensible. Highly intelligent animals such as the elephant are conscious enough to understand when they are being treated unfairly and abused. The elephants snap and rebel, they charge crowds, trample handlers, and destroy equipment. Lions recognize and maul those humans that mistreat them. These actions aren’t out of pure aggression and they don’t need to be “corrected”. It’s clearly a cry for help from those that can’t speak for themselves and communicate their physical and mental pain. The animals
The article “Animals Used as Entertainment” lists rodeos, circuses, bullfighting, horse racing, cockfighting, dog fighting, and zoos as examples of the many ways animals are used in entertainment. Circuses and zoos are the two most relevant forms of animal mistreatment. Both of these are sources of entertainment for children and adults. Zoos declare that the...
Everyday all around the world, animals are held captive under no free will. They’re tortured and deprived of the life they could have in the wild. So many people protest against this awful thing but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s still happening day to day. Zoo’s, circuses, and aquariums put on shows to show off the good looks of animals but deep down inside those animals are suffering. Using hooks, whips, electric rods, and other blunt instruments to get those innocent animals to do what they say to make the crowd happy is completely cruel.
Animals being used in entertainment should be outlawed. To keep animals safe and healthy, circus trainers either must treat them better or stop using animals. Wild animals should not be kept in cages. Animals in circuses are abused. Other views falsely state that some animals live longer when in captivity. Keeping animals in small cages and the fact of them being abused is harsh thus, should not be treated like that.
There are innocent animals being treated horrible everyday at circuses, marine parks, and zoos. Animals like elephants and tigers were not made to do things like jump through hoops and stand on their heads (circuses). Think about it this way, are humans supposed to walk
In conclusion, the cruelty of our fellow animal friends should be put an end to immediately. This because animal cruelty endangers the lives of animals. It is also cruel and immoral towards animals. Lastly it doesn't give animal lives the respect they deserve. Everyone one in this earth I know for sure would like to live and value their lives pretty highly. Don’t you animals would like to live a life like that
This is referred to as the “Guardian Campaign”, which is a “Vivid example of the growing tendency to blur the boundaries between us and our pets” (Katz 74). A core tenet of animal rights philosophy is that no species on this planet is better than another; therefore, humans have no right to dominate over, use, breed, or eat nonhuman species. Another example of what animal rights activist are fighting for, are their protests on using animals for entertainment. While some animal entertainment businesses do not have the animal's best interest in mind, the majority follow all regulations and take care of their animals very well (Stenholm 90). Over one hundred and thirty years of racing at Churchill downs (the site of the Kentucky Derby)
Imagine you were the one being put into a cage, imagine seeing your family get slaughtered in front of you, imagine being forced to do unnatural tricks for people, imagine losing your life and being dehumanized just for entertaining people. If you were put in that situation, would you want to live that life? Animals are being harmed everywhere, even if you don’t realize it. When animals are being harmed or neglected by a human being, this is called Animal Cruelty. Animals should not be used for entertainment and games due to animals are being harmed in the name of entertainment and are being neglected.
A lot of us think anything of what we eat or how it got there. The truth is that meat once was a breathing animal that had a soul. Maybe next time you order your favorite meat at your favorite restaurant, think about what that animal went through for you to enjoy it. I understand this is a way for someone to make a living but they are way to do this without the need for abuse. Having a vegetarian diet could have some benefits to animals, and your health.
