In 2013 Apple sold over 33.8 million IPhones in total. About 20% of more than 4,400 11-18 year old students have been a victim of any inappropriate use of technology. This includes cheating, sexting, and cyberbullying. Some school districts are beginning to relax on policies regarding the use of personal electronics in schools. Over 75% of teenage students have cell phones. If that 75% brought their phones to school what would the other 25% of the students do? I strongly believe that personal electronics should not be allowed in schools.
First of students may use their personal electronic inappropriately. Cheating for example is very likely to happen while allowing the use of personal electronics in schools. And everyone knows not all students in a class can be trusted. Students as of now without using personal electronics cheat in so many ways. Writing on a piece of paper, your hand, the table, giving out answers, or even just copying of off someone else are common tricks being used in my classrooms today. You could just imagine the gateways allowing personal electronics in schools will open. Calculators, online answers (google search, answer book, etc.), or texting for answers. Secondly going on inappropriate websites is also a big problem. Though such sites are blocked on school computers they aren’t on any of the student’s personal electronic. Once they are logged onto the WI-Fi, which personally my school provides a username and password for, them stopping the person unless they’re caught which is not guaranteed to happen a 100% of the time. The student can browse any website they and teachers would never ever notice! I’ve already seen people text, play games, and watch videos and my teachers never notice! One last problem w...

...are huge and heavy. Online textbooks have answers and if they don’t have them the student can easily find the answer book online. Some online textbooks cost money. Are student now going to have to pay for their own textbooks especially in public schools? It may save the school some money but cot a whole lot more to families who can’t afford it. There has been no research what so ever to prove that having online textbooks makes you smarter than having hand held textbooks.
Cheating, sexting, cyber bullying, distractions, lowered self-esteem, and inappropriate usage. These are all important negatives to prove my point that the use of personal electronics in schools should not be allowed. This goes to show personal electronics is not a very well thought idea. Go ahead make a stand and fight for what is right! Create a petition in your community and make a difference.
Eggs came first. Millions of years before mammals, eggs existed, their hard shells unlike her mammalian sister who waddles around, heavily crippled with the burden of her womb. Eggs conferred evolutionary advantage.
There are also those who believe too much time with digital devices has caused students to become disconnected from face-to-face social activities, family communications and nature. Therefore, believing that digital devices in the classroom would probably lead to an even greater disconnection. There are concerns from the EPA about long-term exposure to wireless devices and computer screens. While there is no direct evidence of harmful effects, the EPA would discourage too much exposure for students who have video screens in front of their faces or computers in their laps. If students frequently use these devices at home, additional exposure at school could be viewed as harmful. While schools can limit the availability of websites that can be viewed on their network, students may find links that slipped through the system. There will also be times that students will not be accessing the Internet through a monitored network. Child predators are a problem everywhere. Using digital devices at school creates just that much more exposure and potential danger for students. In addition, cyber bullying is also an increasing issue. Permitting use of digital devices in the classroom could potentially lead to more of
The development of technology in this country has been significant to the daily lives of Americans today. In the twenty-first century, one of the greatest accomplishments of technology is the use of laptops. People, such as students, are facing the fact that laptops have made their lives easier. Some colleges and universities have allowed that each student bring their personal laptops with internet connectivity to class while others believe they easily weaken the learning abilities of students instead of promoting and increasing learning in the classroom. Although personal laptops in the classroom have numerous advantages, there have also been frequent complaints from professors because laptops hinder with learning, and as a result should be banned from bringing them into the classroom since laptops can easily distract students, not every student can afford purchasing a laptop, and would prevent students from cheating or plagiarizing.
I should receive a passing grade in this class because I can write now. Not just an exaggeration, but after another semester of English I finally feel confident that can write. Three of the reasons behind my confidence is I learned, I experienced and best of all I repeated. These three values helped prepare me for what is in store in English 1302 and here is why.
Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. Cellphones attract the attention of building managers, teachers, parents, and students. Although teachers see them as a distraction and a way to cheat, they can be quite helpful to students. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves with a sense of security. By permitting the use of cellphones in school, students can increase their knowledge and complete school work by using applications and other features on their smartphones.
Can you see yourself without a cell phone today? This world has become so technologically dependent that it is hard for anyone to not use a cell phone, a computer, or some sort of device at least once during the day. Since technology has come so far, better education should be possible. Cell phones are a way of communication and can make people feel safe, so it is hard to believe that most schools ban them. It is time for schools to see that technology is the future and it is growing rapidly, along with educational and safety features.
Hunting Wildlife organizations in support of hunting, such as the National Wildlife Federation claim that well-regulated and responsible hunting should be considered a form of wildlife management. (“Hunting Debate”) Hunting is a beneficial Activity that promotes sportsmanship, responsibility, and wildlife management. Ways to strictly regulate or ban hunting are becoming a more widespread debate in the U.S.. However, many Americans enjoy the recreational activity and do not want more regulations limiting one of their favorite pastimes.
Is climbing as safe as driving a car or riding a motorcycle? Humans have been climbing for upwards of a thousand years, but many people still see it as a life-threateningactivity to participate in. Humans have been driving and riding motorcycles for a far less amount of time, yet it isn’t seen as a life-threatening thing to do. So, if climbers can decrease the number of mistakes they commit, then climbing can be made far safer. Accidents are most often caused by human error.
One reason technology should not be used in schools is because it can be very distracting. Alfonzo Porter stated “For many, technology has become a catalyst for distraction and off task behavior with students, tweeting, or prowling through YouTube when they’re supposed to be listening to the teacher or doing classwork promotes a lack of focus” (Porter). Many students can be distracted by a variety of things found online rather than paying attention in class. Distraction not only leads to less focus, but also causes students learning to affected too. Alfonzo also said “Teachers reported that students are distracted constantly.
Hunting, a recreational pastime,a way to sustain human life, and an underestimated technique in wildlife conservation, has existed since the dawn man.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
Homework should be banned from schools due to the excessive workload, it puts on to students. We shouldn’t have homework since we already have seven hours of school a day. We need to get exercise and go outside since it is crucial to our health. Also if we didn’t have homework we could spend more time with our family. We shouldn’t have homework, seeing that we already have seven hours of school each day.
The first reason to support that mobile phones should be banned in schools is that devices can be used to cheating for instance, text friends about answers during a test, take picture of test questions with mobile phones to send to friends, search the internet to answers during a test, and store information on mobile phones to look at during a test. It is suggested by Benenson Strategy Group (2008) indicated that 65 per c...
When you think of hunting, do you see the needless killing of animals or the common practice used by almost all americans and others around the world. Many would say it is wrong and uncalled for, while others use the act to provide for themselves and their community, the topic of hunting has been tossed back and forth between countless actuations and claims. Say if the choice of putting an animals life on the chopping block or yours, most would sacrifice the animals life in order to provide for themselves and the ones that they care about. Everyday people experience this choice and they haft to decide if they want to starve or have a way to eat and make money to provide a life for themselves. Since the evolution of man and other species, it has always been some sort of predator and
