For instance, I spelled “judgment” as “judgement,” and I continuously switched back and forth between the different spellings. I did not notice the difference, for it seemed to be minor; however, with the varying spelling, the consistency shown throughout my work was affected and thrown off. Additionally, I made the error of combining two words and creating my own word multiple times in my assignments. Usage of inappropriate words and language and slang references happened to do just that. For example, whenever I used my creative freedom and included a curse word such as “shit” or “damn,” the computer flags the word all together. The comment mentions that such language negatively impacts the impact and strength of the author’s tone. For the tone gives purpose, personality, and character to a person’s work, it is important to ensure that such a vital element of one’s work is able to be acknowledged and effective. I understand now that even if it is fun and different to experiment with slang words or curse words in my writing, such experimenting affects the effectiveness and seriousness of my work. Thus, whenever I choose to use such words, I have to be more selective and picky to prevent risking the influence of my

The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
Throughout the semester i only learned few new things but i did improve and solidify my skill of writing. Before my first year of college my skills have always undermined by other high school english teachers and with that came disappointing grades. I am writing this paper as a reflection of the semester and the progress i have made as a writer. I now understand many things that my high school teachers have done a poor job demonstrating and i am grateful that i decided to take my own route in my education instead of their syllabus. I entered the semester with anxiety that i would perform as i did before but i clearly outdid my own expectations by receiving top grades on my essays.
Throughout the world, authors bring forth pieces of art that are woven together, not by shapes or lines, but by words. These works of art, whether it be books, documents, or poems, are pushed into humanity’s eyes to be read, analyzed, and thought upon. These words were made to make a difference in the world. Unfortunately, when some writers use crude language and crass images, these works are banned. But do they deserve to be?
‘I am going to fail’ was the very first thought that crept into my mind on that very first day of class. Before I stepped into the classroom on the first day, I felt pretty good about my writing. I had done previously well in English, and didn’t think this class would be much of a challenge. This all changed on the first day of school, when my professor talked about the level of reading and writing expected for this class. I remember thinking ‘I don’t read, why couldn’t I have been born someone who likes to read?!’ Since this moment on the very first day of class, I have grown immensely through hard work. In this essay, I will explain what I have learned over the course of this class about myself, and about writing.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
Some of the complications I face with writing is not using enough body paragraphs, forgetting a thesis statement, lack of word choice, punctuation errors, etc. I am unaware at times of my mistakes, but I always try to correct them. I have also come to terms with my strengths and weaknesses as a writer.... ... middle of paper ...
As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class, I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work to see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded.
There are awkward paragraph breaks, unfinished sentences, missing commas, subject and verb disagreements, and even a couple homophone switches. There are also certain places where some letters or symbols seem thrown in randomly. For example: "Low,en ITC"ance is coming over." [sic] Due to the context, I was able to gather that it was supposed to be "Lance is coming over. " I understand if this is just collateral from switching from Word Doc to PDF or MOBI to EPUB or the like.
A mentally disabled but diligent female high school student attends a tutoring session at the learning center to work on a classroom writing assignment. Despite encouragement and prompts from the tutor, the student is unable to write. She states that she hates writing and declares that she will take a zero for the grade rather than complete the assignment.
If you see a red squiggly line go under your word, then just leave it and catch it when you run the spell-check at the end. It is not hurting anybody and you can fix it later. If you keep going back to fix your errors, then you are going to waste a lot of your time, and you are going to make your writing process a lot longer and harder. The only times you should go back and change a word or two is when you have written a correctly spelt typo.
study also showed that the probability of a medical error or unusual event increases when the patient is over the age of 64 years, or the patient in the intensive care units, or who need to be treated internally by tools, or if the longer hours of treatment, or lack of in the experience of the medical staff. In Britain, thirty thousand people die every year because of medical errors. In America, the number reaches one hundred thousand people die due to medical errors can be avoided. And 20% of patients suffer from medical errors in intensive care departments. Imagine all this happening in countries supposedly medically advanced.
As I received essay 3 back, I realized I had the same mistakes from all my previous papers. I have a habit of missing words in my sentences. Usually when I write papers, I spend hours typing away at the computer screen. My words run into each other and everything made sense to me. The teacher suggested I read my papers out loud and that’s what I plan to do in the future. I also think time management contributes to this problem. In the future, I plan to manage my time more wisely so I can have time to come back to my essays and revise them. Hopefully my writing mistakes will diminish if I stick to this
