Why College Is The Place For Me
From a young age, I’ve always known I wanted to go to college. To be able to pursue what interests me and to study what I’m passionate about sounds like the opportunity I just can not miss out on. I have always enjoyed going to school and learning new subjects year after year, each year giving me a deeper understanding of the topics given to me. College would allow me to broaden my horizons and find new experiences, study new subjects, and deepen my roots in education.

Throughout my two years in high school, I have been trying to maintain a certain grade point average. I’ve passed two of my state tests already and I have yet to take my English II and U.S. History state test. I passed my Algebra I test in 8th grade with Proficient and my Biology I test my freshman year with Proficient. My grades fell off the first 9 weeks of this school year because I had a hard time understanding English II and I ended up scoring Basic on my 1st 9 weeks benchmark test. Now I have made a promise to myself that I will be advanced in everything from now on. I’ve been studying more and working in my SATP practice booklets and now my grades are improving. When I was in 2nd grade I was accepted into the Gifted/Excel class at Bentonia Gibbs up until my 7th grade year at Yazoo County Junior High. Ever since junior high, I have been in the advanced classes, and I hope that will help me with my plan to graduate as one of the top of my class.
College is a place where people go to learn and to grow as a person. Most people go to college for the same reasons. They want to set a good foundation for getting a job, experience new things, or because their parents wanted them to. All of those reasons apply to me also.
College. Educational benefits that can help a person succeed in the vast majority of life’s careers. When I think of college, I think of hard work. I think of the dedication it takes to achieve a universal goal. Graduate with a degree that will further help to apply for a desired job. The course to get there may not be easy, but when the rich feeling of obtaining a diploma is near, it is more than worth the time. My road to success with college may differ from the average student. See, I am currently enlisted in the United States Air Force. To better understand my goals of college, one could look at the time and money it will take for me to graduate, how college benefits me, and more specifically, how English composition will better my future.
Some students will go far enough to even cheat on an exam just to seem smart. Students believe the medal is worth more than what you did to get there. When a growth-minded student fails a test, they strive to learn what they did wrong, growth-minded students tend to work harder to be average but will achieve more in the long run. The students were told that you are either born smart or just aren't cut out for academics.
I want to go to college for the wholesome intellectual stimulation and to get more involved with my community. College will be my last opportunity to do so before I enter the work force. At college I can be intellectually and academically challenged; I will be able to learn with friends who are as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am. My goals in college are to acquire the skills that I need to lead a successful and productive life, to expand my knowledge of the world, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become more proactive.
Attending college has helped me see the right benefits that will help me achieve my ultimate dream goals. First of all, I want to be able to learn how to relate to different cultures, ethnicities, and personalities, and also be able to understand different backgrounds, the way people from diverse culture think and act and their lifestyles; In addition, I want to learn how to adapt to new situations including dealing with responsibilities such as using Blackboard and making sure that all my assignments are completed and submitted on time. Furthermore, I will have to learn how to adapt to being an adult and taking care of my own needs.
College is a big question we all have to ask ourselves at some point in our lives. Many ask are we going to go some of us want to go to college while others do not and some are just not sure. Well this essay will tell you why you should attend college. There is disadvantages in going to college and there is many benefits. Me personally thinks that the benefits outway the disadvantages. Four of the main benefits we are focusing on is job satisfaction, annual income, employment, and poverty.
It isn’t unusual for a gifted student to become underachievers because of peer pressure. Gifted female students will sometimes play down their giftedness and talents in order to please their classmates. Research shows that there is a gradual decrease of self-esteem in gifted girls who are in the school system. By the third grade, most gifted female students have learned the subtle message that girls should not stand out in the academic area. It is more acceptable for girls to be more like their peers.
Getting to go to college is one of the best experiences a college can have and then be able to go on to do what they love.
School is a place for opportunity and achievement for many. But, sometimes those opportunities and programs are not fair to other students. The gifted program is supposed to be an opportunity for students to achieve more and get extracurricular chances. But could this program lead students not “gifted” to feel bad about themselves and their curricular achievements.
I come from a long line of hardworking Mexican-Americans who taught us to be industrious in everything we do. My grandparents moved to El Paso, TX from Mexico when they were both young adults. Prior to coming into the United States they both wanted to head to California, so Texas was just a temporary stop for them. Although it is very difficult to choose, the one advice that struck out to me the most was from my mother when she said, “ The purpose of our life is not meant to be filled with pleasures and prosperity; we were made to help one another and make a difference to the world in which we live in by filling the world with hope. One of the things I love in life is being challenged. As a high school student, I put forth a continuous effort to challenge myself in all aspects of my life. In academics, I took the most challenging courses that my school could offer me. By the end of my junior year, I had completed all math classes available to me.
Ever since I was a little girl I always looked up to my father. He was an honest kind hearted dreamer full of integrity that always inspired me to go after my dreams; as I watched him accomplish his own. My father always spoke passionately about his education and interest in finance that led him to dedicate his studies and professional career to finance.
