Personal Statement: Pursuing My Career Goals

Who knew growing up would be so stressful. No one gave me advice on how to get through the rough times, I had to learn on my own. But nothing has or ever will stop me from achieving my goals. Most of my family didn't finish school, or got the chance to start college, but if I Lizette Mendoza finish high school and college, I would be the third person in the family to do so. I want to be that third person to make my parents proud. My career goal is to become a doctor/nurse. More specifically labor and delivery. Family and friends question me about my career, they tell me if I'm sure about it and ready for it. My response to them is always- "of course I am, if I wasn't why would I chose it" just the thought of working with pregnant …show more content…

Currently right now I am in HOSA and DECA. I've done community service for HOSAS breast cancer awareness at granger's football game against West high. Joining these clubs and doing volunteer work is a good way to start off my college application looking good. I love to hike, to explore new things Mother Nature has out for us. I also love to play soccer, I played it for two years in middle school. After that I stopped playing. I wanted to join grangers soccer team my sophomore year, but since it had been awhile since I played I was nervous to tryout so I backed out. One of my biggest challenges this year is taking medical assisting. It's a lot of work than I expected, I've thought about quitting a couple times. But I know that if I do I will never get to where I want to be. My mother keeps me motivated, she tells me I can do it when ever I doubt myself. By the end of the year I will take a state test to receive my medical certificate, if I do not pass I will have to retake the class in college until I get my certificate. If it ever comes to this I will continue to overcome my challenges, until I am where I am suppose to
