Kennedy” I remember it like it was yesterday, getting my first basketball goal was like a dream come true. Little did I know, it would be my journey to acquiring a love for physical fitness. As I grew I began to see the health benefits of being physically fit and staying active. Learning more about the field of public health during my sophomore year of undergraduate is what sparked a desire for me to join my love for fitness and public health. Lastly, if someone in the community is looking to exercise or participate in community health activities at an affordable price, having access will create community bonds and healthier living. As a result communities will have the opportunity to be fit, active, and involved. Though I’ve been faced with numerous challenges throughout college that have hindered my g.p.a reflection, it doesn’t undermine my professional, educational, or personal goals. I know that I’m capable of achieving anything I set my mind to as I have a strong will, desire, and mindset achieve my goals. I believe the public health program at JSU will help me to obtain my future goals through its focus on providing a high quality education and creating lifelong leaders that will go on to accomplish great things. I also believe the program will aid me in accomplishing my goals because of the broad range of education and research interests that faculty in the program have overall, but primarily in the Behavioral Health Promotion and Education
The book begins by explaining how important exercise and being active is to our health and well-being. The author then transitions into a story about Naperville Central High School. This high school was in the forefront of a revolutionary new concept that involved vigorous exercise of its students instead of a traditional gym class. This new approach stimulated new research on the brain, and the effects of exercise on the well being of our body and minds. After the introduction of the new fitness programs, the school’s students showed drastic increases in standardized tests, and on normal tests as well.
I would like to enter the University of Charleston’s Athletic Training Program on the basis that I love being around sports and I enjoy working with and taking care of athletes. I first became interested in Athletic Training when I was given a tour of the UNC Athletic Training facility by Kevin Guskiewicz, who is the current dean of UNC College of Arts and Sciences. He was the previous head Athletic Trainer for UNC. After the experience, I quickly enrolled in Athletic Training classes in high school and began to learn the basics for becoming an Athletic Trainer. I loved learning about different injuries and how to treat them because as a student athlete I am very accident prone and figuring out what is wrong with my body is important for my collegiate athletic career. Those who argue that physical education is integral to the nation’s health must reexamine the nation in which we live, a nation in which more than one-third of adults are obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pennsylvanian legislation has mandated physical education since 1999, but since 1999, the adult obesity rate has risen by 11%. Regardless of the proponents’ claims, physical education is not having its intended effect on public health. (Note: I am not trying to suggest that physical education is deleterious to public health. I am just showing that physical education has done a negligible job promoting health). Furthermore, physical education consumes an entire class period of a student’s day, a class period which could be spent learning one of many highly important, pertinent 21st century subjects that the Common Core has inexplicably ignored: micro and macro economics, U.S.
I believe that fitness has a greater impact on you mentally than it does physically. Fitness releases chemicals that cause you to feel better instantaneously, improving mood for 24 hours. Fitness makes you more confident and improves your self-esteem, key for ridding anxiety and depression. Fitness makes you set goals for yourself, motivating you to improve yourself everyday. It gives you a boost of energy after, making you feel like you can conquer the world, or to just do your homework.

Adding exercises into one’s daily routines can change their whole lifestyle. Many people look at exercise as being something just for people who want to lose weight or to become muscle bound, but there are a great deal of benefits that can be received from exercising regularly.
