I have yet to narrow down specifically what is I want to do in the film industry, but I have come to the conclusion that I want to do something producing related. I do not know everything that producing entails, which is one reason why I am applying to this program. To name a few jobs, I know there are unit production managers, line producers, executive producers, and producers, but I am still confused on who does what. I have researched it and found that different websites say different things, which makes it hard to find the distinctions between all of them. One general consensus, I have learned is that indie producers are all encompassing because they want to allocate money elsewhere by not hiring other crew members. I want to start off as an indie producer, but then move my way into Hollywood. As of now, I am an ambitious filmmaker pursuing a career in movie producing that will take the necessary actions to achieve my goals. First off, I plan on double majoring in Business Management and Film & Media Production. I believe in being well-versed in both the business side and artistic side of film. The business knowledge will help me run a company, and the artistic aspect will help me make my own shorts and feature films …show more content…

This is a more professional organization compared to the AFA. This is where professional filmmakers find crew members, equipment, and locations. As a student, I am looking to be a production assistant on professional sets, and being a member of the APA helps me find connections. The APA also brings in working professionals to speak to members. One person I met was the cinematographer of Chicago Fire, Jayson Crothers. He was a super nice guy that grew up here in Arizona. He told me the best thing I can do is to just do it, and then continue practicing it until I have mastered it. The APA is a connection network for filmmakers that I will continue to
