I have yet to narrow down specifically what is I want to do in the film industry, but I have come to the conclusion that I want to do something producing related. I do not know everything that producing entails, which is one reason why I am applying to this program. To name a few jobs, I know there are unit production managers, line producers, executive producers, and producers, but I am still confused on who does what. I have researched it and found that different websites say different things, which makes it hard to find the distinctions between all of them. One general consensus, I have learned is that indie producers are all encompassing because they want to allocate money elsewhere by not hiring other crew members. I want to start off as an indie producer, but then move my way into Hollywood. As of now, I am an ambitious filmmaker pursuing a career in movie producing that will take the necessary actions to achieve my goals. First off, I plan on double majoring in Business Management and Film & Media Production. I believe in being well-versed in both the business side and artistic side of film. The business knowledge will help me run a company, and the artistic aspect will help me make my own shorts and feature films …show more content…
This is a more professional organization compared to the AFA. This is where professional filmmakers find crew members, equipment, and locations. As a student, I am looking to be a production assistant on professional sets, and being a member of the APA helps me find connections. The APA also brings in working professionals to speak to members. One person I met was the cinematographer of Chicago Fire, Jayson Crothers. He was a super nice guy that grew up here in Arizona. He told me the best thing I can do is to just do it, and then continue practicing it until I have mastered it. The APA is a connection network for filmmakers that I will continue to
David Selznick and Since You Went Away I have a different concept of producing than other producers. Some producers are money men, and others are just lieutenants. For me to produce is to make a picture. As a producer, I can maintain an editorial perspective that I wouldn't have as a director.
I chose my major because I loved producing media and want to have a career in it. Expressing myself in an artistic and cinematic way is my reason for living; it is so much of who I am and how I define myself. I want to do that for the rest of my life and this degree will help accomplish that. I have loved my major so far. Prior to this year, I had only taken Introduction to Mass Communication. However, I am currently taking Video Production, Audio
Film-making is both an art and an industry. Many people were credited for the invention of motion picture. Some major names associated with motion picture include, Thomas Edison, Eadweard Muybridge, and the Lumiere brothers. There were several stages in the making of motion picture.
A crew includes a screenwriter, whose job it is to provide the written blueprint version of the entire film. This is basically the starting point for any movie. Next there is the producer. There are many types of producers; executive producers, co-producers, assistant producers and line producers. They all do very different things. Some are the producers are responsible for raising the funds for the movie while others are responsible for the production that goes on during the filming of the movie and still other producers are in charge of what physically goes on the set. Then it is time for the director. The director is in charge of the actors. The director works with the actors to visually bring to life what was written on the screenplay (Fortunato, Who Does What on a Film). Now the idea needs to come together. The idea of writing, “what you know” is not always true and writing, “what you come to know” is in fact a more accurate way to write. Other good ways to formulate ideas are to use existing plays, novels, short stories, life stories, new articles, or even past TV shows and film. When using existing work a person needs to make sure that one secures the copyrights before starting write. Securing the copyrights does not mean one is finished yet. Now a person needs...

Becoming a music producer can mean discovering and helping make the careers of artists. However, it takes time, effort, training and contacts. That's because a music producer has plenty of responsibilities during an album's production, both on the creative and the business looks sides. The producer supervises all aspects of the recording process, from helping to select songs to contracting with session players and deciding the sound of the song, selecting the studio and engineers, booking studio time and overseeing the recording budget.
Record Producer is a person who creates beats for other music artist or for themselves. A producer has many roles such as creating a blueprint for the project, selecting songs and musicians, coaching the artist in the studio, controlling the recording sessions, and supervising the entire production. Producers also often take on a wider management role with responsibility for the cost, schedules, and negotiations. A producer aims to gain popularity in the music industry or individual positive exposure to music labels (such music companies as Sony, OVO sound, Def Jams, etc.) Nowadays record producers create music to get label contract or to be heard on the radio.
Moving forward is you are looking to go more depth into movies and actually understand them I would recommend taking The Language of Film, which some colleges do
As surprising as it may seem, there is no education required to be a music producer. It is very helpful and more likely to increase the chance of employment if there is some educational background though. There are schools nationwide that offer programs in music production that teach the technical aspects of music and it is recommended to enroll in one of these degree programs if one is pursuing a career as a music producer. There are multiple degrees that will aid in the teaching of producing music such as the Bachelor of Music in Music Production and the Bachelor of Science in Music Technology. The skills taught in these fields of study include, but are not limited to, recording and mixing music, mastering, and music theory (education-portal.com). Learning these abilities can not only improve one’s knowledge of the technical si...
“My life is story telling. I believe in stories in their incredible power to keep people alive, to keep the living alive and the dead.”
Music production is more than just a musical program; it is a duty that requires personal experience with music and artistic direction. Observing producers in the studio, their creativeness comes out in different ways even depending o their task. The artisanship of music production has come a long way ever since the heavily involved recording equipment has been massively changing. Every artwork has countless of individual people who have changed the way the art may be applied to the field, leaving behind their legacy to influence all aspects of music. Music producers are always overlooked when it comes to working with musicians or bands, but what people do not know is that they are the backbone of the production but are unseen to the public. There are several of paths on becoming a producer, like being self-taught or going to a vocational school. If you plan to advance as a producer, it will be a rough experience trying to ascend to a higher position. A music producer is the main person that manages the whole album on a record, and is responsible for helping the artist complete his work.
Many people don’t think about it so much, but movies (or just film in general) have become such a big part of our lives that we don’t think much of it because it just feels like a usual part of living. But have you ever wondered why this is, and how far back film started? Movies and film have been around for a long time, have developed in big ways throughout time, and has advanced in such a big and new way to this day.
Journal 1: The Professional I came into The Professional not knowing very much about the film save for the general plot and that this was Natalie Portman’s first major movie. I knew the plot centered around the unconventional relationship between a young girl and a trained hitman, and that Gary Oldman starred as the antagonist. I did not know much about the actual substance of the film. Even though I knew very little about the movie, I still found it easy to predict the plot points beat for beat. The movie follows a rather simple narrative structure where we see a cold and calculating killer transform into a loving surrogate father, while a young and naive girl learns about the harsh realities of life.
The film industry has always been somewhat of a dichotomy. Grounded firmly in both the worlds of art and business the balance of artistic expression and commercialization has been an issue throughout the history of filmmaking. The distinction of these two differing goals and the fact that neither has truly won out over the other in the span of the industry's existence, demonstrates a lot of information about the nature of capitalism.
