I honestly found this article to be surprisingly interesting, I would even go as far as to say one of the most interesting non Sci-fi readings that I have read. Relating to our discussion this week about what materials I find interesting, I actually paid attention to this reading and I wanted to read more. I appreciated the author's witty honesty because it made the reading much more realistically relatable. It was as though I was reading from a friend that was going through the same situation as I am.
As I first started reading I was thinking what in the heck do stones have to do with reading. However, as I kept going I understood the weird metaphor that the author was trying to connect to their writing experiences. You first have to master the easy things before you can move to the harder things, or work your way up. It was a tad bit strange but the author stuck with the theme and by doing so, in the end it all made sense. When the author talked about getting side tracked, “ I just don’t wanna write! I kept reading, interested in the article to find a solution to my problem. I should not have been so surprised when coming across the solution because it was so simple. Like everything in life, in order to get good at something you must practice. That is the message that I got from reading this article. The author practices everyday, but I honestly do not have the determination to do this. If my career depended on it, or even if I was in my freshman year of highschool, perhaps I would dedicate time out of each day to write. But realistically seeing as though this is one of the last english courses I will take in my life, I would rather dedicate my time to other subjects that involve my career. I am not saying I will not try this advice, am simply saying I most likely will not dedicate so much of my time to it as the author
