Personal Narrative - Randomness of Human Relationships
As a guy, whenever I see an attractive girl, I immediately start searching for an "in." I need a reason to talk to her. Is she talking to someone I know? Did she miss the same class I did and we both need to make something up? Did we meet at some random place far outside of campus? Same brand backpack? I'll take anything. Why go through this charade?
First, a note on boundaries. Sometimes we imagine a smooth transition where a boundary does exist. In India, castes are clearly defined and moving between them is difficult. Here, we pretend no such things exist and everyone is freely socially mobile despite strong evidence otherwise. Words like opportunity disguise these boundaries.
Conversely, we often imagine qualitative boundaries where none exist. Love is one of the best documented examples. We Westerners are baffled by the arranged marriage. Love is supposed to be this mystical force that draws random people together, yet Westerners would not want to accept that their marriages are often more arranged than their Eastern counterparts'. Westerners who marry often meet in high school, college, or work, meaning they already have a great deal in common as far as goals, timetables for those goals, positions in the social hierarchy, and socioeconomic status. To top it off, they're usually of the same race, family background, religion, and are equally attractive. Love is hardly a random force of nature, and all sociologists understand this.
The in is another such artificial boundary. We could probably become great friends with anyone in any of our school classes or even most of the people we run into on the subway, yet we don't talk to them without some catalyzing comm...

...ercentage of people so long as we have enough "chance encounters" to fill these roles. It does present other problems, however, especially in places with high population density. These situations are so random and diverse that they're nearly impenetrable to ins. It'd probably be very beneficial to randomly talk to people we sat next to on the subway. We could learn about each other and make valuable business or personal contacts with no danger or downside. Regardless, would we even consider doing such a thing? Even if we did, neither the initiator or receiver of the interaction would feel special or consider it could become a real friendship. I could've selected anyone to chat with and you could've been selected by anyone. Interacting with others without an in may only be a faux pas because if it works too often, our dream of a friend-aligning force would be dashed.
Social gender separations are displayed in the manner that men the view Wright house, where Mr. Wright has been found strangled, as a crime scene, while the women who accompany them clearly view the house as Mrs. Wright’s home. From the beginning the men and the women have are there for two separate reasons —the men, to fulfill their duties as law officials, the women, to prepare some personal items to take to the imprisoned Mrs. Wright. Glaspell exposes the men’s superior attitudes, in that they cannot fathom women to making a contribution to the investigation. They leave them unattended in a crime scene. One must question if this would be the same action if they were men. The county attorney dismisses Mrs. Hale’s defenses of Minnie as “l...
When we talk about aviation maintenance, we speak of repairs, alterations and the act of preserving an aircraft in its original airworthy condition. An airworthiness certificate is given to an aircraft after countless hours of design, research and testing. And in order to keep this certificate valid; an aircraft must be maintained in accordance with a certain specification. These specifications are brought to us by the Federal Aviation Administration. The Federal Aviation Regulation part that spells out these rules is found in part 43. These acts are performed to prevent harm to pilots, passengers, and even innocent bystander that may become involved in an incident due to improper maintenance. As maintenance managers, we must understand these implications that must be followed, so that we may ensure that our facility is performing to the standards set upon us by the FAA. The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 allowed for the regulation of air commerce in such manner as to best promote its development and safety. This brought about a rulemaking process to insure that all aspects of aviation could be regulated in a way as to provide maximum safety to all. This was the initial birth of 14 CFR 43, or Part 43 of the FAR's which is ironically titled Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, Rebuilding, and Alteration (Federal Aviation Regulations [FAR], VII, 1997). This part has been primarily written for individuals or repair facilities that may be performing some sort of maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding and or alterations. It refers to a number of qualified individuals that include holders of mechanic, repairman, air carrier, or even a pilot's certificate, that may perform an array of the procedures listed in this part. So when it comes down to it, we as maintenance managers must know and live by FAR part 43 in order for our employees to work and perform in a legal and safe manor. As the title implies, this part of the Federal Aviation Regulations prescribes rules of governing the maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding, and alteration of any aircraft having a U.S. airworthiness certificate; any foreign-registered aircraft used to carry mail under pt.121, 127 or 135; and airframe, aircraft engines, propellers, appliances, and components of such aircraft. This is exclusive of aircraft holding an experim...

As a Genie Industries Team member, I was trained in Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) technique. At the beginning and during my shift, I do a visual inspection of all machines, fluid check, detection of unusual noise and machine malfunction. I also took classes in Control Maintenance.
On October 15, 2015, an inclusive preventive maintenance assessment was conducted, and this report provides some research methods used in completing the assessment, such as written surveys, visual observations, and personal interviews. The written surveys were in the form of qualitative and quantitative questions. The qualitative questions allowed the researcher to obtain in-depth information about existing problems within the SUAH, while the quantitative questions allowed the researcher to quantify the problems in order to form viable solutions. The researcher conducted a visual observation and gathered additional data on current structural concerns. Finally, personal interviews were conducted with the employees to hear problems they encounter daily.
Once upon a time a website provided free music through peer-to-peer file sharing. This was a new technology for the public for a several reasons. The price of home computers had declines dramatically and many people could now afford one. Because of the affordability, many people who had never used a computer suddenly found themselves enmeshed in the new media. Not only could people do their e-mail, do paperwork, play games and use all the different applications they now could also share their files with others. Of course, they wanted to share one of our most valued pleasures, our love of music. The public was not aware that this type of file sharing was illegal because it was not clear on the website disclaimer. Most people did not understand United States copyright laws or the concept of Fair Use. It was the golden age of the internet and everyone was happy with his or her new toy. In this paper, I will discuss legal implications of peer-to-peer file sharing. The most famous case was the Napster lawsuits. I was interested because I got a cease and desist letter spring 2000. I stopped but I never quite understood what the difference was between file-sharing and recording music off the radio, which I later learned was illegal also. This paper will explore if the current copyright laws provide the protection necessary for intellectual property. If not, does it need to be revised? Can the Fair Use Doctrine and the new technology co-exist in the same world?
Language acquisition starts early in life, especially the acquisition and learning of phonetics which is detailed in Kuhl’s review article. Numerous studies have been carried out on infants using a wide variety of neuroimaging techniques including EEG/ERP, MEG, fMRI and NIRS. These studies mostly focus on which brain mechanisms are responsible for understanding phonetic units of speech, or the consonants and vowels
As the development of aviation industry grows, more and more aircraft crashes occur. There are many reasons that lead to aircraft crashes, but one of them, is because of improper aircraft maintenance. Why is proper aircraft maintenance so important? Proper aircraft maintenance is critical in order to keep the aircraft can function properly, every aircraft part is in good condition and ensure the safety of pilots and passengers. Proper maintenance has many parts. The most common part is inspections, which pilots do them every day; the main part is overhaul and repair of an aircraft; and maintenance documentation is another important part of aircraft maintenance which improper maintenance documentation has caused many incidents.
What motivates a person to flirt? According to research conducted by professor David Henningsen in 2008, there are six different situations in which an individual is likely to engage in flirting. Although men and women do their fair share of flirting, the opposing sexes perceive flirting very differently. It has been recognized that men perceive flirtation as more of a sexual innuendo rather that simply a friendly gesture (Henningsen, 2008). In this text, many motivations that trigger flirting will be discussed along with will be collated from several different aspects including motivation, purposes, and effectiveness.
In recent years organisations have come to recognise the value of developing a system that can operate as a maintenance and performance improvement tool. Such tools are known as Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) and are used to control planned maintenance carried out across plant and facilities. MMS assure that assets (i.e. production equipment) are properly maintained and operating within specifications. These systems also help to prevent breakdowns, save on downtime and are generally designed to support the document control requirements of ISO 9002.
Preventive maintenance can be defined as an activity performed on a certain schedule which is intended to prevent breakdowns or deterioration. These activities can include regular inspection along with solving any discovered problems or situations and regularly scheduled parts changes. Preventive maintenance involves the scheduled adjustment, inspection, replacement of wearable parts, calibrations, basic cleaning and lubrication of equipment or other recommendation made by the equipment manufacturer. These activities can help increase the equipment functional life and help decrease facilities deterioration. No equipment should, No equipment should reach the breaking point [1].
Break-fix and preventive maintenance: Supports complete work order management through its entire lifecycle. Schedule preventive maintenance based on time, condition or event-based triggers.
When you’re young, you don’t care about how a person looks or acts, they’re just people, friends. Growing up, you’ll find that qualities a friend has to have or can’t have become very important. It took a special kind of friend to show me that the true heart of a person is what really counts.
One of them was that I was on my journey with someone. I was on the journey with my boyfriend Dusty whom I have been with for four years. I am more like myself when I am with someone, especially Dusty, than when I am by myself. I do think that spending time with just yourself is a waste of time. You should just be out talking to people because who knows when that dreaded day of death will come. I think that you should just seize the moment and spend time with people. When I am by myself, I am quiet and withdrawn, but when I am with people, I talk up a storm and have a fun time just being me. I donÕt hold things back or try to act like someone IÕm not.
