I believe in never giving up. There are always going to be challenges and tough times in your life that you are going to go through. But at those times that means being your strongest, having your head up high, and having a smile on your face even when your whole world is falling apart. Life will never be a perfect fairy tale, but it will be the life you you want it to be and what you make the best of it. That includes never giving up on yourself or others around you because you feel like it is not worth the duration or it is too arduous. Nothing is ever “too hard” it is presumably you being idle. This belief came from my soccer coach Mrs. Valdovinos. She made me start thinking about why giving up is never an option. That you don't just get things handed to you and you need to work in order to earn. And she also made me more assertive. …show more content…
It was my turn and I let the ball pass me and I didn't kick it right. But.. it still wasn't out and I just walked away and let it go. My coach and teammate had a shocked face. My coach then told me to go run a lap because what I did was not acceptable. After she gave me a talk that gave me a whole different point of view on the way I should handle things. She told me that lately she had noticed that whenever I mess up I gave up right away. She said I need to learn from my mistakes and not let myself down so fast. Also that I was capable of being an even more outstanding player but that I had to want it to achieve it. If I kept giving up I would never become the player I want to become and just tear myself
Life is not always easy. When we really consider all that goes wrong in a day without relenting, life truly does suck, not to mention the intense difficulty. We face this challenge endlessly, and it seems that there is always a new trial to replace the one we just overcame. Struggle seems to take two forms, the kind of struggle that is right in-front of us and the kind that slowly appears and envelops into our daily life. It is the issue of not adding difficulty within our life to have a normal simple life. Why would someone do that though? I believe that this comes from a need to blend into what is considered a normal society that has issues and tribulation. There is a need to fill this void of not lacking a challenge by a challenge being
Failure isn’t always something you have control of or have the ability to predict. Failure seems to happen at the worst of times; however we need to accept it, because you cannot always win. My greatest failure would be tearing my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), my junior year in a lacrosse game, through no fault of my own in which my body physically failed me, but it truly changed my aspect of life in multiple ways.
Failure leads to disappointments but sometimes it can result in great lessons and successes. People can go through hard times, but if they stick it out and see it through, the failures and hard times can lead to success. This happened to me recently involving soccer. It was our second game of the high school season, and we were playing Northeastern. I had started the game and after the national anthem and the announcing of our names, the game whistle had blown, singling the start of the game. The first half went by slow it seemed to never end. With the end of the first half we were tied 0-0. The halftime talk was not very positive, understandably, considering we weren't playing well. Then the whistles blew again and we took the field to start
I had really wanted to play soccer on a team since I was five. I had and still do watch videos on YouTube of good players playing to get inspiration. I then tried it myself, and got good at it. All of that practice led up to that moment. The ref then blew the whistle right after everyone got onto the field. The game was off and I was really confident that my team would win. I tried my best to make it seem easy, so I would do better. My mindset is mainly what helped me do better. I was playing a position called “center forward,” which is basically the most important position besides goalie. Soon the ball got to my team’s goalie, so I started running upfield for the ball. Just as I was about to pass the other team’s defense, I then yelled, “here!” I then got the ball and it was just me and the other team’s goalie. I then dribbled closer to the goal. I first did a fake shot and made the goalie fall, then I nailed the ball into the goal like my foot was a hammer and the ball was a nail.
When I was a young girl, my older brother always did very well in school and he and the rest of our family were always very proud of his work. As I grew older and noticed all of my brother’s achievements I decided that I wanted to not only achieve what he had, but to also achieve things that he had not. Because of this strive to reach and surpass the standards that my brother had set, I developed into a person with great determination. Throughout my life I have always set goals for myself and then did everything I could in order to meet those goals. This aspect of determination in my personality has allowed me to get to where I am today, a student of George Mason University. Whenever I am faced with an obstacle, such as a hard class, I make
In conclusion, we learn in life we have to face these challenges in each accomplishment to give us a sense of unity through our family members. In life, we have to go through these challenges everyday and some days it will be easy and some days it will not but as long as we have our friends, family and friends to point us to the right direction we can achieve basically anything we want too. Life there will be things that will hurt us or we can't be able to due, but we will soon overcome all these challenges in life and it will open a new doors for us.
I believe in the power of not quiting because not quitting shows alot about a person. I’ve been told since I can remember from my father not to start something that you are not gonna finish. “Quitters never make it anywhere” is what I get told at least five times in a week. It’s just something that’s important to me and always will be on and off the football field. Your mind will tell you that you can’t go on and tell you to quit, but there is always something else to accomplish, always something you can finesse and make greater. If you ever quit something when things get tough or you just don’t feel like doing something, then in the back of your head you will have that reoccuring thought , “Well it ain’t that big of a deal, I’ll just leave it, it’s fine won’t hurt anything.” Really that’s when it all starts and everything becomes “okay” when really that’s when you need to make the extra effort, run the extra sprint.
However, I have been playing soccer since I was five years old. I love playing the game. Not only is it something that I am good at, but it also fills me with joy. Every time I step onto the pitch it makes me come alive, and I become a whole new person. Tryouts for the team was the only thing that stood in my way from accomplishing my lifelong goal of becoming a varsity soccer player. I was aware that the speed of play during a JV game is elementary compared to the varsity games. For that reason, I was nervous out of my mind during tryouts because I thought for sure I would be cut. There were already ten seniors on the roster, so I knew the spots were limited. Tryouts lasted about a week, and after every night our coach would have to ruin another handful of kids’ dreams. It was a Friday night and more importantly the final night of tryouts. I was still hanging around, so I was blessed to even make it through the first four nights. I learned from a senior that there was only one roster position left with four kids still on the bubble. I knew I was one of them. Knowing that I had to play my tail off that night, I gave it everything I had. By barking orders, slide tackling for every ball, making crisp passes, I was able to play to the best of my ability. When coach blew the final whistle, I was so nervous that I could not tell if I had urinated myself, or if I was just extremely sweaty. It didn’t matter. Nothing mattered except for the decision on who got the eighteenth slot. If my name was not called, it meant that my performance was not enough, and I would have to wait an entire year before getting another shot at playing varsity soccer. Once I did not hear my name after sixteen players, I thought I was going to puke from anticipation. Coach continues through the list and says, “Geoff Liskoff, and finally Tyler Jarrett.” I
I loved basketball I grew watching all the NBA greats like Michael Jordan, Lebron James etc. I decided to try out for my junior high basketball team. At the tryouts, I was terrible I was new to the sport and learning, but my luck the coach chose me to play on the as a there were few seconds left. After the season, I looked back at it and I wasn’t happy
There is a point in everyone’s life when they step back and realize “I can’t do this anymore, it’s ruining my life”. Many of my friends have started smoking cigarettes while drinking at a very young age, and continue to use this drug currently and don’t realize the affect it has on their future. While I have been smart enough to avoid smoking, I haven’t been as wise at making decisions when it comes to drinking. The amount of partying I’ve done in college has taken over my life, and has had a huge impact on my grades. Changing my drinking habits and continuing to avoid cigarettes will enable me to be the best I can be for the rest of my college experience.
The roles of leaders in health care teams are thought to be important by some researchers. Particularly in helping coordinate and integrate individuals amongst the team; this is especially important in large teams as without it work can become more demanding and difficulties in communication between individuals rise leading to higher stress levels. This is supported by research that which found that lower levels of stress amongst staff was found in the team with the largest proportion of managers (Borrill et al. n.d.). This conclusion was drawn from a research programme that was carried out over several years and 400 health care teams. These teams included primary care teams, community health care teams as well as secondary care teams and so
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
In electing to participate in the Change Anything (2011) 30-day personal challenge, I contemplated which area of my life I would like to see improvement. After careful consideration, I decided to focus my attention on improving my relationship with my son. My relationship with my son has endured many challenges because of his daily struggle with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Diagnosed with the disorder at the age of seven, I have experience many obstacles with managing the symptoms of his disorder. These symptoms include difficulty focusing and trouble completing homework as well as chores and other task. In light of these challenges, the timing of this challenge ideal as I recently made the tough decision to leave my job in order to bring more balance to my personal life.
We all go through many obstacles in our life, and most of the time, we don't know what to do about it. I have an obstacle that I am currently going through. I am a very bad procrastinator, and for the past week, I have been struggling with beginning this essay. Everyone goes through hardships in their life. It's a completely normal thing. We need to learn however, what to do in these situations. We might feel like we want to give up right away, this is because we may think that it's too much to handle, or there's nothing we can do about it. Thankfully, I have finally learned how to deal with my procrastination and start on my essay, as you can clearly see. We all go through bumps on the road, we just have to break down the situation, stand strong, and work through them.
Emerson states, “Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.” The quote explains if people never go beyond what they have already accomplished, they will never progress in life. An initial reaction would be “I have not mastered anything, so I am unable to respond to this question.” Growing requires breaking out of comfort zones and broadening horizons. If a person does not go beyond what they are capable of achieving, they will not grow.
