One July morning I woke up said goodbye to friends and family and headed out the door, and hopped on a uber to the airport. “Where to?” The driver said. “To the airport” I responded. “Do you have any preference on the radio?” He asked. “No thanks” I replied. “ Where are you going to?” He questioned with a deep accent “ Arizona, me and a couple of friends are going to the biosphere 2.” I answered. I sat back plugged in my headphones into my phone and listened to some music. I meet up with my friends near the check in booth. We sat and waited resting my back against the wall. We then approached the gate during boarding. I searched my pockets swiftly and felt the emptiness on the cotton. I went to the the gate desk and told them my situation …show more content…
I then sat down and ate my lunch and listined to some music. We landed in arizona stepping outside to be hit by the hot heat wave of the desert. Sweat dripped from our forehead and felt the warm air stick to our skin. We got picked up and drove to a campsite for 1 hour. We reached the biome and we went to our rooms. The next morning we got assigned our biomes there were 3 biomes; rainforest, ocean, and a farming environment. I was hoping to go to the ocean biome, but the course instructors had different plans, and put me in the rainforest biome. The rainforest biome sounds fun and interesting but it was very hot, slippery, muddy, and humid. Soon i became an expert in the rainforest after getting lost once or twice. Being one of the first outsider to be inside the rainforest was exciting often i would walk around instead of taking samples of leaves. After a week we left for Minnesota going to Utah for transit. I went to the security check out took off my belt and shoes. THen a big alarm went off then all of a sudden a group of tsa agents cirled me telling me to put my hands up. Then the took me into a small room and asked me a few …show more content…
The told me to open my bag slowly. I started to think that someone must have put something in my bag, then she said “pull that out”. I pulled out a cold shiny flat metal with some liquid inside. Instantly i recognized the water bottle they gave me at biosphere. They confiscated it and said “never to bring that through the airport,” I agreed. Then I tried to catch up with the rest of my friends. We got on the plane and it failed to take off. We tried again but we still couldn't take off. We got off and they said that we could return our ticket for a later time or choose to go somewhere else on United Airlines. They also gave us 300 dollars each for food and a place to stay. We went to the mcdonald's and grabbed a bite to eat, then we took a cab to the nearest baskin and robin. We returned to the airport: the cold breeze of the air conditioning hit us straight on the face. We went to our gate and realized we had to get a ticket. Instantly we all blamed the airline. We went to get a ticket and the gate office told us there was no more flights to utah until 2 am. Since we had no ride to the airport we decided on stay at a hotel. We took a taxi and we reached the
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
The day of my grandparents had told me they have been wanting to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course i wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family. She had told me she would be back . So i asked her is she would like to join me and take a trip to the Keys with me. I could tell she was so excited when i asked her because she texted me back all in caps and said “CALL ME”. So i called her to let her know all of the details. So she ended up getting back .So when she got back from Florida we went to Walmart and bought a lot of
Finally, to my delight, the day had come when I would be flying my maiden flight for British Airways. This was the new & most sophisticated airline, the Boeing 777-300ER from London to New York. The journey would usually take 7 hours but the crew has to report for the flight preparation 2 hours prior to the flight. After all the final checks with the ground crew, we gave the green signal to invite the passengers on-board. Once we had all the passengers and their luggage loaded, we taxied to the runway. The weather was miserable in London this morning and there was an excessive amount of water on the runway. Once we a...
Walking into a building that was as tiny as a bug, my stomach started to feel uneasy. As I looked around at the security guards watching every move I made, I knew this would be the hardest goodbye. The uncomfortable chairs, silent tv, and unbearable smell of coffee were NOT helping either. As we approached my brother, he softly said to us, “I’ve been here since 5:30 and they said my flight won’t leave until 2:30, but I get TSA Precheck because I’m in the military.”
I love camping and spending time outside, but this summer I had a completely new experience when I visited the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Before leaving, I had very little knowledge of the Boundary Waters. After getting advice from friends and purchasing some special equipment, I realized that camping there was going to be much more complicated than I had thought.
I got out of the car, huge bag on my shoulders, containing all the items necessary for me to survive this next week. Timidly walking into the admin office, I handed the officer my service jacket(a.k.a my permission slip) and a another person lead me to my
When I stepped into the large neatly organized white polished plane, I never though something would go wrong. I woke up and found myself on an extremely hot bright sunny desert island filled with shiny soft bright green palm trees containing rough bright yellow hard felt juicy apples. The simple strong plane I was in earlier shattered into little pieces of broken glass and metal when crashing onto the wet slimy coffee colored sand and burning with red orange colored flames. After my realization to this heart throbbing incident I began to run pressing my eight inch footsteps into the wet squishy slimy light brown sand looking in every direction with my wide open eyes filled with confusion in search of other survivors. After finding four other survivors we began moving our small petite weak legs fifty inches from the painful incident. Reaching our destination which was a tiny space filled with dark shade blocking the extreme heat coming from the bright blue sky, I felt my eyelids slowly moving down my light colored hazel eyes and found myself in a dream. I was awakened the next day from a grumbling noise coming from my empty stomach.
I had never seen such affection and care as I did from my family. After all the goodbyes, we made our way into the airport. I held on tight to my rolling suitcase as I walked to my future and I will never forget the love and support that stood there weeping. After waiting in the airport for over two hours, the plane finally arrived. I was sitting in my airplane seat slowly anticipating to see my mom that I hadn’t seen for six years. I remember the first day that I came to America. Getting out of that airplane exhausted and not being able t o walk because I had been sitting in the plane for 24 hours. I was in the Phoenix airport, looking around nervously in a peculiar place filled with strange people. But, the moment I saw my Mom and my family, I was serene once again.
We got off from plane and headed towards the exit. My cousins and my family case worker were already their waiting for us. I was so shocked and the same time I was so happy to meet with my cousins after 6 years. This days too when I went to airport reminds me of that day. We collect bags and headed towards my cousin’s house, I was so hungry and I asked my cousin “what kind of food you made” she knew that we love Nepali cosine so she had made Nepali cosine. We ate food after that I went upstairs to rest. I was so excited and little bit scared to be here and start my new life in USA because I knew that USA life is different than Nepalese life style, however that day was my best day ever in my life. I felt like my dream came true. I had a lot of things going through my mind. Like what am I going to do, what is best for me things like
There I was, walking through the airport looking for my gate. I found it and sat on one of the chairs
The stewardess then directed me towards the back, away from the cockpit. I looked at my ticket and at what seat I'd be sitting in. I had to duck in and around people putting their luggage into the upper compartments and look for my number on the back of my seat that matched my ticket stamp. As I walked past one of the windows, I glanced out and saw the right wing. It somehow gave me reassurance that I'd be fine and I'd soon be having the time of my life. "I'll soon be in the air."
My parents had everything packed and ready for the upcoming visit to Guangzhou. They were busy calling my family in China who offered to pick us up at the airport. As we board the plane, I began to wonder how
An event in my life that is memorable would be when my Uncle Bob and I decided to go scuba diving. In our adventure, Uncle Bob was bitten by a five-foot bull shark and later at 70ft below sea level he ran out of air. These events have taught me that scuba diving can be a dangerous activity, that I must be aware of my surroundings, to refresh my scuba training and to remember safety techniques.
I was just boarding the plane to go to Arizona. We were going to Tucson, Az to visit my grandparents. We always have fun there. We almost always go swimming on their pool because on average, the temp there is around 97 degrees Fahrenheit. Just because it’s hot, doesn’t mean that it’s gonna ruin a great trip to Arizona. The plane rides to Arizona are always long and cool rides. I mean “cool” in both it was Air Conditioned and Awesome! After 4 hours into our flight, and the Pilot says over the speakerphone, “New Mexico dead ahead!” I looked at and out my window, and I see… Mountains. Only mountains. Then there was the problem. The plane hit turbulence and sent the plane in a downward dive.. In my head I was saying, we are going to die!!. Then,
I could faintly hear the plane engine rumbling as it started up, but that was all I heard for the rest of the plane ride. After a while, I had become accustomed to this silence and darkness. Then without warning, our box was lifted, but sat down again. The environment was much different now, I could see light pouring through the cracks in the box and noise filled my ears. It was incredibly noisy, I could overhear cars passing, their horns honking, and people talking. Where in the world was I? It must be a city, but which one, New York City, Chicago, or Los Angeles? A utility knife suddenly came into view, it was slicing through the tape. I would finally be able to see where I was! But what I saw was what I should have been expecting, a vault, I’m such an idiot! What did I think, that I was just going to be dropped in the middle of the city and be able to go anywhere I wanted. Yeah, fat
