My Louisiana Experience Have you ever wanted to go to Louisiana? I was excited when my dad told me that my parents and I was going. I wanted to try the food there. It was cool going to a different state. I wanted to live there. When my parents and I left for Louisiana, I was so happy. The reason why we were going there was to see Duck Commander. We had to go through Arkansas and Mississippi and I think Tennessee to get to Louisiana. It was a 2 day drive and my butt was hurting, but I got to play music in the car so it was alright. I was so happy when we finally got to West Monroe, LA. I was so excited to sleep in the hotels, my parents and I found one with a pool and hot tub. We went to Duck Commander the next day and bought
El Paso, Texas is a relatively large city with a small town attitude. It is one of those cities that grows on you. I embrace the laid back lifestyle and bi-cultural environment - it’s given me an opportunity to develop a unique bicultural identity that influences my motivation to succeed. Especially, being the daughter of an immigrant that upholds Mexican culture. The majority of the population is hispanic, which gave me the sense of mexican traditions that I would share with my family in Mexico. Growing up bilingual ironically provided me comfort in the community. Also, the efforts of the community are being made to modernize and improve the city.
Oklahoma. Not only did I get to hear about the places I wanted to go visit, but now I
If I were able to travel to anywhere in this world without worrying about expenses, I would travel to New Orleans; a Louisiana city that is located on the Mississippi River and is in close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. New Orleans has a number of things to provide as to why I would travel there, but I only picked my main three that I mostly want to do. The first reason is for the unique and diverse culture New Orleans has to offer. The other two reasons are for the history and to witness the creepy side of New Orleans that it is most famous and known for.
Arriving there felt so good. Even though it was late, the excitement kept me going. My mom and I took a taxi to our resort and I just loved looking around the city. It is so different from Minnesota. There were palm trees everywhere. The air had a different smell. Everything just felt so different, which to me felt great. I needed this break to get away from Minnesota weather. Once me and my mom arrived we got checked into our room. Our room was a lake side front, it was the best room I have ever stayed in. Once my mom and I got into out room, we immediately went outside too look around. We were right on mission bay and the view was amazing. Even at night it was magnificent. I decided to watch a movie with my mom at 1 o'clock in the morning. ...
The year is 1880 and The Civil War ended fifteen years ago, my family is struggling to sustain on the meager income that I make, working for the general store in the city of Richmond, Virginia. Fifteen years after the war, buildings have gaping holes from the cannons and few bridges have been repaired. The Union army took anything of value and left the city of Richmond broken. Times are tough, I have a wife and three children to support, reluctantly we make the hard decision to leave our home and go west. Before the war, my family owned a prosperous farm and after the Union burned it down; we have nothing except for the meager wages I make at the store. Farming seems to make the most sense for us, so we will go west to Texas and try our luck
¨Today we can go visit the Fort Worth Stockyards. We can have dinner and I also go shopping,¨ suggested Aunt Mary Beth. I am in Dallas,TX Score April vacation visiting my Aunt Mary Beth and Uncle Pete. ¨That sounds fun,¨ we agreed. We all got in the car and drove 20 minutes to the Stockyards.
I thought it would be a great idea to go to North Carolina. I have always wanted to go to North Carolina. It would be amazing because our family would come to visit us, we could go to the beach, and get food. I chose North Carolina because it is a place were not really used to and it’s very warm down there.
A few summers ago, I went on a trip with my family to my cousin’s wedding in North Carolina. We ended up driving there and on the way we stopped in Washington D.C. We spent a few nights there, visiting all the monuments and enjoying all the experiences and opportunities the city had to offer. For most of my life, I had always pictured myself living a life much similar to that of my parents; going to college and then moving to New York City to get a job. However, I never felt comfortable whenever we visited New York and I could never picture myself living there. After many trips into New York City, I realized that I had no interest in living there after college and those experiences resulted in me thinking that big cities were not meant for
New Orleans. The only place where you can be walking down the street, and all of a sudden get caught in a parade! The smell of the fresh beignets from Cafe Du Monde, will never leave my nose. Oh what I would do for one more bag full of three steaming hot fried dough balls covered in powdered sugar. I couldn’t let myself get too distracted, I was there for one reason only, nationals. MY team made it to nationals. These type of things didn’t happen to me.
The place where I would like to call me second home is located all the way down in Savanna Georgia. I can remember way back about nine years ago in the summer of 2008. The plane ride was a long and hot, and I spent the whole ride playing on my PSP. When I got off the plane I remembered walking through the freezing cold Savanna International Airport seeing all the flags of different countries hanging from the ceiling, but then taking one step out of the airport front doors looking for the car services that was rented and feeling the crushing 100°F heat and deathly humidity. But it is all worth the painful heat to spend time in the beautiful city.
From there we got on the amazing and very large airplane that we were going to fly to Hawaii on. When we sat down, I discovered that our seats had touch-screen screens that we could use to watch movies. We had a great time on the 8-hour flight to Hawaii from Dallas. We landed in Honolulu, Hawaii on Maui, where we got on a small plane that took us to Hilo, Hawaii on the big island. From there we met up with our relatives who had come with us and found our rental house. We have been through a long day of flying and went to bed as soon as possible.
It was just my mom and I, so on the drive there so we decided to stay the night at a little bed and breakfast. We also went to Lookout Mountain (Rock City) where we could see seven states, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. On the drive there it was almost like we were dancing on the Georgia Tennessee border. The next morning after breakfast we drove out to Valley View ranch. It was like it was in the middle of nowhere.
Actually being in Florida was an amazing vacation. It was the drive there and back that was terrible. I learned that I never want to take a 5-hour energy, ever. I believe that they are very bad for you. I also know that the next time I go on a vacation with this family, I am going to make sure that nobody gets any 5-hour energy drinks, or any kind of energy drink at all. My lesson has been
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
