My first job was babysitting. I remember the first time I babysisted. It was a Saturday at 5 o'clock in the morning. My phone was ringing really loudly. I quickly got up and picked up my phone. It was my mom she said,” Rachell, Is it ok if my friend from work can drop off her daughter at home so you can take care of her?” I agreed and said,” Yeah sure why not !” I was super proud of myself my first paid job! I got out of my bed and got ready. I couldn’t wait to see the girl and have fun with her I thought nothing could go wrong. After I got ready I was waiting for my mom’s friend to knock at the door. It was about 6 o'clock and than I hear a knock. I told myself, “Stay calm Rachell you got this.” I start walking towards the door and then
I open the door. Oh my gosh I’m taking care of a one year old ! I was freaking out I never changed a diaper before. What does the kid even eat ? Does she even have teeth? All theses questions came flooding my mind. I looked up towards the mom and she starts saying, “ All her diapers are in the bag and you can give her milk from the gallon.” Than she leaves and hands me the kid and takes off. I closed the door and thought to myself well this is going to be interesting. I put the girl in the couch she didn't cry at all. I was really proud of myself. All she wanted to do is drink milk and watch Sesame Street. The diaper changing was difficult but after the second try I think I got it right. This experience was not as bad as I thought. For my first job experience I think I did well.
It was my senior year of high school, I was sixteen, getting ready to turn seventeen. It was my senior year of high school. I was not your typical girl wearing makeup everyday and worrying about getting dolled up for school. I did not play sports. Don’t get me wrong, I would get all dolled up if I had something special to do like go to a school dance. I had a part time job at Olive garden because my parents motto was “if you do not play a sport you need to work!” My mom used to say to me “you know Alana back in my time I was not able to work so you are very lucky you're able to work.
I took up my first job sophomore year of high school and have stuck with it ever since. I currently still work there, Enchanted Beach Weddings. In this job I work labor and I am also one of the head photographers. We set up beautiful weddings on the beach and then I am in charge of directing them and leading the bride, groom and everyone else through the wedding. While I am doing that, I am also taking the wedding photography. It is a super stressful job to have couple’s wedding day experience in your hands and control, but I have never had a bad experience with it and am so priveleged to be a part of such an important day for couples about 75 times each year. On the side of this job, I have always had a fun job to make a little extra money by work...
Growing up all my friends had perfect jobs for teenagers. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time applying for jobs and searching for places to work because money didn’t come easy and I wanted to be in control of my own money. But I could never score a job. I applied to at least 100 jobs at least twice and I still couldn’t get an opportunity.
I was hired quickly and kept my first job for a year. During that year, I worked quite often, which had affected my school work. I didn’t make time to study and went to bed late most nights. As much as I wanted to quit, I kept working. I wanted to quit, because I feared I couldn’t keep up with school anymore. It terrified me that I would fall so behind, and never get anywhere in life. I kept faith, and I worked hard to get where I am today. I never gave up. I did not like asking for money at home, because I knew everyone was already struggling. I felt like I needed my job, so that I could make money to pay for things myself. Without work, I wouldn’t have any lunch money for school. My grandparents helped as much as they could. It's not their job though, I felt that it wasn’t fair they had to keep spending their money on me. Working has taught me great skills. I was shy before my first job. I am now more outgoing and social; I love meeting new people. I still work to this very day, and I am working hard in school. With good time management, I’m able to keep up with
Thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump. My heart began to race as I climbed in my truck early Monday morning. Anticipation grew inside of me at the thought of starting my new job. Would it be difficult? Would I get frustrated? I kept asking myself these questions, but I didn't want to know the answers. All the confidence that I had built up before that day had diminished and I was left with dread. I tried to reassure myself that it was just a summer job and that I would never have to go through it again, but my anxiety had already overcome me.
My first job was at a grocery store I was excited of meeting new people, making friends, gaining experience, but most importantly was excited to earn my own money. My pay rate was nine ten and pay day was every Friday. The first day I worked was on a Sunday afternoon in which I worked a heavy eight hour shift from eight in the early morning to four in the calm afternoon. It was a very productive day I did many go-backs, the hourly
Do you remember your first job? Sometimes it’s an awesome experience and other times it’s an experience one would prefer to forget. I had multiple random jobs throughout my teenage years, but it wasn’t until working as a medical assistant at a local clinic did I considered myself having a “real” job. Coming in on the first day opened minded and thankful for the opportunity for this job, feelings of excitement and nervousness came over me. This job was intended to provide work experience, new skills, and hopefully some new friends.
Two years ago, this happened in the summer. I decided to start looking for a job. I interviewed at many places that were hiring and I finally got a call from this vietnam restaurant. The owner of the resturant told me I was hired to be a delivery boy and a waiter there.
This was the happiest I had been since my dads death. My mom was extremely proud of me and we had a party. We invited Jamal and some other neighbors around. That summer I started talking to Jamal more and I was at a great spot in my life. A few days after the party I started thinking about what I wanted to do with my life and the first thing that came into my mind was being an entrepreneur and owning my own business. I started thinking of things that I could make into a business that would make a difference. I decided that I would try and create an app that would put all of the jobs around you that have an open spot into one place. I thought that this would be good because there is a ton of people that don’t have jobs in Compton and in
That summer after school I just wanted to find a job and start making some money. Going to college for anther four year was something I thought I could not handle. I final got a job at UPS unloading trucks. At first I thought how hard could it be? But every day I would come home exhausted from working in the heat. And then when I got tiny pay check, it hit me. From then on I decided that manual labor was something that I could not do the rest of my life and I could definitely not support a family on that income. A job behind a desk in the air conditioning was what I wanted.
With the job I have, I have learned many valuable lessons and life skills. Along with a job, there comes responsibility. With the money I earned working, I wanted to buy my first phone instead of my parents buying it for me. It cost me 110 dollars!
My first day at school was a new adventure for me. I had to wear a school uniform: a blue dress and handmade leather sandals. Having run around all but naked for the first eight years of my life, it was very exciting.
It was my job for two summers, and was a great, exciting first job. One of the aspects that was very neat about it was the fact that I started it once school got out for the summer, and then once school started back up at the end of the summer I stopped working so I could put all my focus into school. I was primary weed eater for my first summer, simply because I was the newest guy on the job and also the youngest. I didn’t enjoy this near as much as I did mowing, but it taught me a lot about what hard work. We mowed a really big trailer park every other week, and I was in charge of weedeating the whole thing. I had to weedeat around all the pipes and poles sticking out of the ground, and although there was a bunch of those I didn’t really mind that part of the job much. However, the part of this that I absolutely hated was that I had to weedeat two or three decent size hills that were too steep to get a mower on. The worst part of this was that it was a job that couldn’t be done in the morning because the steep hills would be too slippery from the dew, so usually I would have to wait until the extreme heat of midday. This was one of the hardest things I had ever done before, and I truly hated it. However, because it was one of the hardest things I have ever done, it taught me what hard work really was. It taught me how to work hard, and showed me the rewards of my hard work through my paycheck
I was only seventeen when I started working. I live in a very small city that is downtown full of different stores. During the summer times, most of the stores downtown would post job listings looking for young individuals who wanted to work during the summer season. I decided that I wanted to gain some work experience and decided to apply to one of the stores. The store I worked in was called Kid City.
As far back as I could remember, I was always in a rush to grow up and be responsible. I was about thirteen when I realized I wanted a job, so I could have my own money. I’d even fill out applications online, lying about my age but it never worked. A few birthdays went by and I was celebrating my sixteenth birthday and a few weeks later; I received my first retail job. My very first job was at a popular teen store called Aeropostale. I learned and experienced a lot working there and made friends as well. Although, I got what I desired, I often had uncertainties once I really got the feel for the part-time position. In life, people leave and things change and by the end of my employment, I would soon look back and realize it.
