“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something in your life” said Winston Churchill. I was faced with a situation at Bethel University that has been the biggest problem I have ever faced in my life. I was accused of harassment. Bethel University handles this problem with little to no evidence just a statement from someone, and that wasn’t the only problem. Bethel also took everything away from me without having all the information, and basically only allowing me to go to class which hurt my reputation as a student. I kept asking myself why didn’t Bethel University stand up for me, and why was I treated unfairly by the administration, faculty, and security. The administration treated me as if I was a criminal before I even had time to take in, …show more content…
Here’s how it all started, I met someone who was a student at Bethel University, and we began talking. I soon figured out that the person I meet was a family member of a professor at Bethel University. We talked for about three weeks, and then we started hanging out at a Bethel versus UTM football game. After that weekend, we started hanging out more on campus, and we started to become friends. Then on the following Wednesday after the game, the person told me that they needed to focus on studies instead of hangout with friends. The next day the person didn’t talk to me all day. After eating dinner, I walked out of Vera Low which is the student activities center here at Bethel University, and there the person set with two other friends. So I texted the person and said “wow,” and asked, “What was going on with us.” The person never replied which made me upset, but I continued on with my day as usual. Later, as I walked to tutoring I passed the individual who had their phone in their hand, the person looked up at me and smile as if they knew
Linda Lee, the author of “The Case against college”, uses rhetorical devices to sway the readers opinions. Most people can agree college is very important, while others have different opinions. Lee believes not everyone needs a higher education. She is forgetting the reason college is so important and why so many people receive a college education. Everyone should attend college, college graduates make more money, have more job opportunities, become more independent, and have more stability.
Prompt: In 500 words or more, describe your collegiate experience thus far. How has this experience and the knowledge you've gained influenced what you plan to study? How have they influenced your decision to apply to St. Edward's?
Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. has played a large part in my life in a short amount of time; this organization has granted me the opportunity to attend college through a scholarship. The scholarship that I was granted was through the alumni chapter in Fayetteville; it required letters of recommendations, a transcript, an application, and an essay on what I believe “Achievement in every field of human endeavor” means. Once I received the call that was telling me to meet the representative to receive a letter stating whether I received the scholarship. When I opened the letter, two tickets fell out for the Kappa Scholarship ball, and when I read the letter, it stated that I have been picked to receive the scholarship from Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. The weekend of the scholarship ball, my mother planned a graduation trip for a couple of friends of mine and I to go Myrtle Beach. So the day of the scholarship ball, I drove from Myrtle Beach to Fayetteville to attend the scholarship ball; once I arrived at the ball, I was greeted by many men of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. When I sat down at the table that they reserved for me and the three other scholarship awardees, I was approached by many men of the fraternity. That night was very spectacular and eventful; the men who had presented me scholarship seemed down to earth, sociable guys. They treated me with so much respect, and talked to me about how I see my future and told me what I could do to be a successful African-American in today’s society. These men set an example of accomplishment and in the short time that we had together, they instilled in me that I should never be content with where I am and I can always do better as long as I have the mind set of an achiever. Without this scholarship, I ...
It was summer of the second year of my university; I went back to Pakistan to visit my family after two years. I came to Canada two years earlier to that event to do bachelor in computer science here at the University of Guelph. I was living with my uncle in Guelph, just a couple of minutes ' drive from campus. I used to spend most of the time by myself, studying on campus. I had a very mysterious nature of not caring about people or things. I used to spend days without talking or interacting with anyone. I never called someone, unless I needed a favor from them. I had no concern whatsoever about my any relatives ' health or job. I use to get annoyed with my mom 's constant texts to know how 's everything. I was hanging out with people I should
One year, I tagged along with my parents when they drove my brother and sister to Worldview Academy. Unfortunately, I forgot about the incident. That all changed, though, when I found myself enrolled at the same academy my siblings had previously attended. Since then, I have returned three times and this year served as my third and final “term”. After my enrollment, I concluded that I had discovered an anomaly, for I had never found myself more comfortable in a crowd of perfect strangers, nor so intrigued with academic subjects or experienced such an exhilarating time evangelizing as I had at the academy.
I started talking to someone named Jorge Salazar. My friend Kristine invited me to get tacos with her mom after school. She invited her friend Jorge Salazar, a guy I've seen in school but never had the chance to talk to until today. Kristines mom sat in a both so me and Kristine sat in between Jorge Salazar. When we left home Jorge found me on facebook and we became friends. I didn't know he lived so close to my house. The next 14 days me and Jorge would text every day and night until on of us feel asleep. Then on October 6,2016 when Jorge was texting me he wanted me to go outside because he wanted to ask me a question in person. He asked me out 3 times and then my moms boyfriend came outside so I had to leave. The next morning I was getting
Sexual Harassment at Arizona State University Introduction Sharon is an undergraduate student at Barrett and has had an intimate relationship with a faculty member at the college. She is scared of revealing her identity even as she seeks justice because she is afraid that the culprit might retaliate by screwing her grades or other damage. She says “I did not exchange sexual favors for grades, but Dr. Bruce coerced me into having sex with him. I was afraid of upsetting him.” “I was concerned that I might upset him, and he might retaliate by awarding me a weak grade in the next paper.

What disheartens and disappoints the average individual and even causes fear is the fact that male teachers are falsely suspected or accused of inappropriate behaviour toward female colleagues and students. One such distinct case is the accusation levelled against Dr Peter Nicolino, who is an educator par excellence with tremendous expertise and years of experience at hand. He is the holder of a two permanent certificates as a
Unfortunately, in the year 2016, Lynn University still has to make it clear they're a non-discriminatory University. A non-discriminatory University is a quality I value the most. There are many groups in our society that face discrimination every day, and many of the groups face direct and indirect discrimination especially from Universities. I am grateful to apply to a University like Lynn because they are not insensitive to the controversial topics society is afraid to address. I do not to accept discrimination and neither does Lynn University.
The New South Wales Police Force holds their officers to the highest level of accountability for the decisions that they make everyday and expect each officer to adhere to their policies and guidelines by demonstrating impartial and fair ethical values and professionalism during the course of their duties (NSW Police Force Standards of Professional Conduct, 2008). This professionalism and the expectations associated with it extends not only to employees, but also to students that are undertaking the Associate Degree in Policing Practice through Charles Sturt University and the New South Police Academy. This is reflected in the Charles Sturt University Academic Misconduct Policy (2016), which outlines the expectations and importance of students
“Hey babe,” I bellowed down the bus to him. Not even a slight acknowledgment. How disrespectful. He stood right up the front of the bus next to the driver shaking like he had just seen someone rise from the dead. To be honest I didn’t know whether he heard me the first time so I shouted even louder at the top of my lungs, “Hey babe.” Everyone on the bus looked round so I sat there and hid behind my folder so no one was looking at me. I still got no response from him and my face started to drop and a tear began to fall from my eye. I loved every part of him and couldn’t imagine life without him. I thought I wasn’t having none of this so I messaged him again “WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM, I AM NOT INVESIABLE, LAST TIME I CHECKED I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND.” I sent the text with no kisses and very blunt and to the point just exactly how I was
First off, I would like to say that my overall experience of attending Bethel University has been fantastic. Being a student at Bethel University has been challenging and rewarding. I think the aspect I enjoyed about Bethel the most is the spiritual grounding of the school. The Bethel University promote religion as well as offer a Theologian degree. Without a stable religious background, people lose focus on the things in life that matter the most. Bethel University provides the civilian and spiritual learning that students need to help them to become well round in both walks of life. I love the fact that the school chaplain sends out encouraging spirit messages to the students each day. The Bethel University College cares about your spiritual
I found that to be a bit strange but i figured he missed his family and friends back at home too.I approached him with confidence even though i was extremely scared that i would be rejected to be his friend .My first thought was to first say hi but somehow that didn't come out of my mouth . instead of hi i said “why are you string out of that window” he replied “ it's nothing don't worry about it” and walked away i thought to myself “did i do something” The whole day went on no word from him.. My day was pretty boring after that i didn't speak to anyone and just followed the class to every class and sat there. By the end of school when the school bell rang , he was the first to leave never saying
Harassment and discrimination claims are due to lack of education about the subject. As an independent human resources consultant, Santiago-Santos will organize a local education campaign and provide employers with different trainings to educate them and their employees about harassment and discrimination. Employers will have a better understanding on how to develop internal policies and procedures to address these claims. Also, trainings will be provided for employees and they will be educated on how to prevent and identify harassment and discrimination as well as what steps to take in order to report such behavior.
