When I flip through old photo albums in thirty years, I see the successful and happy life I have lived with my family, friends, neighbors, and classmates. I envision a life filled with hard work, achieved goals, strong relationships, and a deep faith with God. I would consider my life to be successful if I continued to be the hard working student I am as I continue to further my education in a Five-Year Fast Track Physician Assistant program. If I made my dreams reality; one of my dreams being to never regret day I lived and to take every day as a new opportunity to better myself. If I formed strong bonds and relationships with my colleagues, professors, friends, and family. If I developed a deeper connection with God, as I know that he will help to live a successful life. And, most importantly, if I live as a person who I am proud of, a person who puts the needs of others first, because after all, we are on this Earth to serve not only ourselves, but others as well. …show more content…
His actions were not skydiving or visiting a tropical island, instead, they were becoming the husband and father he has always wanted to be for his family and a friend he has never been. This song portrays exactly how i want to live my own life; a life that I would look at as being successful. Not only do I see a successful life as having a successful job, big dreams, and huge accomplishments (like making Dean’s list during college), but becoming the person that my family, friends, and myself
Fast forward my future to what psychologist Erik Erikson identifies as the Late Adulthood (55- 65 to Death) stage of life in his Stages of Psychosocial Development. There are two options as one reflects on their lives and they include: Integrity vs. Despair. I hope through the choices I make that I am in the Integrity department of happiness and content, feeling a sense of fulfillment and meaning and that I have made a contribution to life. Of course, there may be disappointments in life and we don’t know what the future holds and although I am nervous and anxious of where I will be in the next three months and in the next thirty years, I am also optimistic and excited to see what the future has in store for me.
...he dream of just playing music was something that inspired them to stay out the streets and to see what is important in life. Music was a way they survived, it saved their life. The music told their story in they way they wanted it to be told. Dreams are also something lavishing, they are not always about being rich and famous, but its about wanting to do something you are truly passionate about and knowing when you wake up you are happy with the decision you are making. It doesn’t matter if someone understands why you decided to do that or not.
...althier freedom than he had with heroin. He is able to channel his struggles caused by heroin into something beautiful with his music. Through this realization, the narrator also knows that he is in denial of his own tragedies when the tears fall out as he remembers people such as his mother, his dead uncle and his daughter.
He discusses how his mom got him christmas presents and how he was shocked due to being from a very poor family due to not having the advantage of being white. He continues to say how his emotions are pouring out of him as in he is letting all of the stuff that he has gone through that was hard out and he is ready to let it all out for the best of his health. He mainly discusses the pain he has gone through and how it is hard growing up as a young black male. After this main song, he continues to open up on how he coped with this heartache that he has gone through.
It reminds us of how important it is to have a bond with people who love you and to cherish every moment with them. By listening to this song, it has made me want to spend more time with my family, especially my dad. He is a major influence in my life because he has made me who I am today. When him or my mother tell me how proud they are of me, I thank them for leading me in the direction they did. My dad has taught me to chase my dreams, but always know that he’s by my side. He also taught me to “take on this whole world”, but in the end I will always be his “little
As we age, we take a journey though live that is uniquely ours. There is no one else who will have the same experiences that we do. These experiences shape our worldview and from this, we formulate our inherent values. Yet, as we start to face the reality of our own death, we tend to ask ourselves if we lived a good life. The question of a good life comes with sub questions such as we were successful, did we make meaningful relationships, and how will people remember us? The questions that asked need analyzation in order to determine if we have lived a good life and this paper will attempt to figure out what living a good life means.
I wouldn’t have gotten the main picture of the song if I didn’t look at it through a different perspective. Tim O’brien expressed his feelings through a book and the band FUN with their song but it's our job to figure out why it was made.
Throughout the song the tone changes from a disappointed and unsatisfied feeling until it progresses into a hopeful and maturing tone. This transformation of tone follows the story almost perfectly and allows the reader to feel a connection to the transformation of the protagonist. This transformation from “expecting the world” (line 1) to realising that some things must happen for others to come into motion “the sun must set to rise” (line 24) is especially impactful and emotional when paired with the lines “ This could be para-para-paradise, para-para-paradise” that are repeated to show her newly established happiness and maturity. Ultimately, this progression from disappointed
I feel that all successful people must make a major positive contribution to the world in some way during their lifetimes. Not everyone can do this, however, and it seems that your view on life has a major effect on your ability to do so. I hope that while developing my skills I also will develop the mindset required to make a major contribution to the world. Ultimately, I think that if I continue to participate in extracurricular activities and courses that hone my knowledge and skills I will be able to have a successful career as a computer engineer, and eventually have an impact on the world for the greater good.
During these years my life was an old television with only three channels: home, school and church; each one being similar to the other with little distinction. Even though my life seemed tedious at times, I learned how to focus, pray and never to give up. In hindsight, I believe my parents raise me in this manner out of fear. I did not grow up in the best of neighborhoods, and my older brother was incarcerated while I was growing up, so I can understand their apprehension. Nevertheless, I had a strong moral foundation to enter the unknown know as college.
...ow, after years of preparation, my diligence is paying off. I sit down at a nearby table and chat with my friends. I know I have succeeded because I put my career goals first. I have taken every opportunity available and built it into a life-changing step closer to my goal. After all, it's not how much you are given that matters, it's what you do with what you already have.
The journey of life follows a predetermined pattern; we evolve from needing influence and guidance to finally reaching that point where our lives are up to us. I consider myself very lucky up to this point in my journey. Some people become sidetracked and wind up on a far different course than initially planned, but the detours I made have only assisted in embellishing the individual instead of devouring it.
People often ask why I seem to be so happy; my usual reply is "because
My life is a mixture of moments, some happy moments and others not so much, but regardless, these moments have made me the person that I am today and I don’t regret anything that had happen. I consider myself a strong, and a very determined person, I have dreams to fill the world and I am willing to do the necessary efforts to attain those dreams. My motivations I inherit from my family, more specifically my father that I love so much; I have always
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
