My Future is Now
I feel the lush red carpet underneath my elegant heels and smile as cameras rush up to snap pictures of the slow procession. I slowly walk into the large hall of my very first Hollywood premiere. A colleague of mine sweeps over with a large grin on her face.
"Bet you thought you'd never be at one of these!" she says excitedly. I calmly smile back in return. Having never had great opportunities just fall into my lap, I know I've worked long and hard to achieve my career goal. Not only am I employed as a computer animator at a major company, I have designed the special effects for the hottest movie on the market.

...ow, after years of preparation, my diligence is paying off. I sit down at a nearby table and chat with my friends. I know I have succeeded because I put my career goals first. I have taken every opportunity available and built it into a life-changing step closer to my goal. After all, it's not how much you are given that matters, it's what you do with what you already have.
On July 22, 1997 construction of Conseco Fieldhouse began. That day sparked the beginning of a very important addition to the Indianapolis area. A projected $175 million dollars would be required to complete this new, highly technalogical sports arena. As time and the building would progress the costs would rise to $183 million due to unseen soil contamination clean up on the site. Even with this rise in costs the construction continued and as we will show you this state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility is worth all the costs. “Naming rights for the Pacer’s new home belong to Conseco, Inc. Headquartered in Carmel, Ind. Conseco (NYSE:CNC) is one of America’s leading sources for insurance, investment and lending projects. Through its subsidiaries and a nationwide network of insurance agents and financial dealers, Conseco provides solutions for both wealth protection and wealth creation to more than 12 million customers.” (cfhhistory) From the outside this simple redbrick, limestone and concrete building leads to a spacious, barrel-vault roof like most traditional fieldhouses. A glass roof at the top of Conseco Fieldhouse allows a beautiful view of the city skyline from within this structure. Inside the sponsor pavilions, concessions stands and general feeling follow Indiana’s rich basketball tradition. “Combine those elements with memorabilia and this building is the world’s first fully-themed professional sports and entertainment venue” according to the building’s design firm, Ellerbe Becket Sports and Entertainment. Generally speaking, success isn’t just about what you accomplish in life, it’s how you accomplished it and the impact you
There are various definitions of success. It can be defined as the as one’s accomplishment of a desired aim or goals. Subsequently, success can also be defined as the attainment of wealth, position or honors. Therefore, success varies from one person to another; it can be a personal aspect as having a pregnancy, academic success, business or political success. However, for one to attain success, whether in an academic, business, political or a private setting, one must put in place strategies that will aid him or her and act as a bridge towards the accomplishment of success. A good strategy must give an overall direction of the intended goals, it is within the sources and opportunities of the desired goal and it advances
It has taken me a long time to come to this point but I am now sure of what I want to do, and what I need to do to achieve my goals. Had I not gone through the countless jobs and educational paths, I would have never come to the one that I finally know I will love and it will benefit me as a person, and benefit my family financially.
Success means to live a life in alignment with what brings us real joy. In my case, “success-joy” comes in many guises. At times, in being persistent with my current dreams, others, investing time and energy in what makes my life shine, and that is, without a doubt, when my life is at service of humanity and when I cultivate happy and healthy close relationships. I tend to define success as a state of being, a constant process of unfolding rather than a place to arrive. It is the journey of getting to know ourselves, in order to fully occupy every aspect of what we are; a forever changing aspiration, a state of being in which we realize that life’s greatest rewards spring from our capacity to relate to adversity in innovative ways. I have also discovered that real success shows up again when we debunk and deconstruct every single stereotype and assumption we have about ourselves. In this way, we feel capable to challenge what is commonly accepted as wisdom and then we have the opportunity to change and integrate our values with greater ones. There is an enormous joy when we feel free to play with the possible new scenarios that our imagination and creativity compelled us to try. A successful state of being is alert and grounded within us with the certainty, that the choices we embark on are in resonance with what we consider is the truth of what we are in that precise
“Progress looks like a bunch of failures and you 're going to have feelings about that because it’s sad but you can’t fall apart. And then one day , you will succeed.” (Grey’s Anatomy) It is the law of life that significant events will occur throughout a human’s existence on Earth. We exist, survive, and thrive because we are able to change. With that in mind, I am grateful for all the opportunities that have and continue to be given to me despite my past failures, lack of inspiration and confidence.
In current times, success seems to determine everything about an individual. One of the main reasons people go to school is to grow up and become successful. Success is the reason anyone does anything. Whether it be a small or large-scale success does not matter. A person might make a sandwich to succeed in fighting off hunger, or a basketball team might take time to watch more film and spend time together as a team to succeed in winning a championship. Either way success motivates people. The question that goes with it is, was I successful? If one says yes, then they ask why? The answer almost always includes some amount of preparation. Because a success without prior preparation is uncommon. No matter what, we humans strive
When beginning a discussion or exploration of youth gangs, the longevity of the social problem becomes a reasonable starting point. Youth joining together and roaming the streets of London together in packs were described as early as 1830 in Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist (Burnett, 1999). Before considering the current state of affairs with youth gangs, it first becomes important to focus attention on developing a concise understanding of what is meant by the term “youth gang.” Additionally, what are trends relating to the spread and progression of youth gangs in America? In order to do this, a close examination of a common definition of a youth gang and research relating to the spread and migration of youth gangs must occur.
This poem fits within the scope of the period due to its mention of arts and sciences. Its focus on those things which are measuarable and seen rather than the Romantic period that it followed. Pope, not only turned away from his Catholic upbringing but identified with those around him who believed that if something existed, then it was supposed to exist, without much faith that God had much to do with any of it. Knowing that Pope’s beliefs aligned with those writing during the Age of Reason and was focused on science rather than religion and arts more than the upper echelons of society makes the work clearer in its focus. Pope put his belief in those things that he could see, feel and experince rather than in something that was potentially hidden from his view. His loss of faith could be a result of the struggles that he went through when he was younger, simply by being associated with a certain religion. It could also be argued that by being born sickly, never reaching a normal height, having a twisted spine and other maladies which haunted him could have angered him at God, and he hoped that science could potentially provide him with some relief for some of his
For a few of us, success is being a stay-at-home housewife, successfully bringing up your youngsters. For others, success might be instructing or directing. To others, success might be characterized by the measure of instruction you accomplished. You may feel that you need to get your doctorate degree, in light of the fact that every other person in your family has done likewise. Nobody can figure out what success is to you, yet you. There are excessively a large number of us living miserable lives, since we are effectively accomplishing brief comment another person happiness, which implies that you are unsuccessful to
It's been two days since the little mirror was handed to her, since she was shot into a dystopian dreamland, which apparently held the earths future in its hands. Emmy glanced at the mirror again, for about the 50th time that morning. Her reflection was not there, which meant that the world she was in right now had not turned into reality. (yet) She had been placed in a small, chemical white cell room which contained only a small, also chemical white bed and a red plant. A plant. Not even a toilet, or something you could deposit your body waste in. Shit. Emmy thought. I really have to pee. She got up and walked/ran to the door, which did not have a door handle. Great. She was about to start pounding on it when there was a knock from the other side. The door slid open and Emmy had to quickly step back to avoid getting squashed. A tall figure appeared at the doorway...
This paper is supposed to be a reflection of my past and a glimpse into my future. I have a really hard time talking about my past because I don’t recall much of my child hood. I have managed to block out a lot of the memories the bad along with the good. I am not sure why but when I started blocking memories it also took the good along with the bad. So I will tell you what I can remember and what I have been told about my childhood. I will also tell you what my future holds for me and how I plan to reach that goal.
I consider that I have reached professional success when I’m able to finish any goals that I have set in my mind. It doesn’t necessarily means that I need to have a masters or a doctored on my career. If my goal this year, is to graduate on April 2010, and I’m capable of doing it just the way I set it in my mind, then I have reached professional success, even if it is only my Associates in Art (AA).
Even though the definition of “success” has a very nuanced meaning depending on its culture and context, highly successful people typically exhibit the same universal characteristics. For despite common belief, successful people are not affiliated with some exclusive club and it has to do more with attitude than superior I.Q intelligence. Therefore, many people have the ability to learn about how they can be successful and do better than they are now. Due to having the privilege of interacting with successful people on a daily basis, I gradually coined my own theory of success. In addition, interviewing successful college students for the basis of the EPE course project has managed to further support and strengthen my theory. Yet rather than just being applied to an academic setting like a college or school, theses theories can be slightly modified to be applied in other aspects of life as well. It should be worth emphasizing that exhibiting some of these traits are likely good indicators of being a successful person, however there are a lot more not mentioned. For due to their vast variety, it would be extremely difficult to talk about each of them individually. As a result, I have taken the liberty of grouping them into broader categories and have listed them in no particular order.
