A group of excited high school guys cram tightly into the back of a car on a weekend night. They aren't going to a party tonight or seeing a movie at the theater. Instead they pull into the church parking lot.
I'm one of these high school guys, and I have become a part of Ada Bible Church's student ministry called Lifeline. Lifeline is a youth group that creates an environment for high school students to learn about God. It is a place where I can have fun and connect with other Christians, and it has had a great impact on my life. While worshiping and learning at Lifeline, I have grown spiritually and become more like the man God created me to be. Every Sunday night I am reminded of the faith that I have dedicated myself to follow; to uphold
Every school bus has a hierarchy, a caste system. The cool crowd the kids who smoke, come to class with hickies, and get into enough trouble to be the secret envy of the honor roll students occupies the back rows. The cheerleaders and star athletes take the middle seats. The serious students sit near the front. The nerds and the outcasts never know where they'll end up. If they're lucky, they can find an empty seat directly behind or to the right of the driver. (8)
Mary I have grown academically. Students come to school and learn so much. We learn skills and lessons that prepare us not only for high school or college but for the rest of our lives. We learn all these things from our teachers. Our teachers care about each one of us and want us to do well. They work very hard so that we can have the education we do. They also strive to be good role models for their students. They set a good example and teach us good values. We are taught how to treat people with love and respect. What's so amazing is that not only are we taught these values but you can see the students acting on these values everyday. For example, when we went to the Camp Duncan retreat we participated in some activities that taught us some about what it means to be Christian and how we should build each other up instead of tearing people down. After these activities you could see everyone being really nice to eachother, people talking to people they usually don’t, and just using what we had learned that day. It’s so amazing to see all the ways God works in our
I spent every spring and summer in middle school doing mission work and community service. I loved the opportunity that it gave me to build relationships and share my beliefs with people I didn’t know. Little did I know that this would pave the way for a life-changing experience that I would encounter one day. Each spring my church would host a missionary event called “The Ignite Project.” I felt an urge to join the group, recognizing that it was a calling to profess my faith in Jesus. These mission trips helped me to go out
I was able to go on a mission trip to Minnesota Native American Reservation, Squaw Lake when I was 13. I learned the four Spiritual laws, and I accepted Christ through the training. I was able to share the Good News to mostly to teens and kids. His Holy Spirit deeply filled my life, and I wanted to grow my passion for God.
High school is one of the most memorable times in a person’s life. For some those memories are full with excitement, happiness, and joy. For others it ends up being a stressful and a hormonal rollercoaster of a nightmare that they wish they could forget. And of course, there are always those stuck in between, who just float on by through their 4 years, whether going unnoticed or just sticking close to the shadows instead of the limelight. This dynamic can be broken down between social classes within the high school scenes, using jocks, class clowns, trouble makers, and the Hollywood favorite, geeks. Movies such as Revenge of the Nerds, the Social Network, and Super Bad have shed light on these clever misfits who make you question the amount of attention we all gave them during school. For this essay I will analyze the social class within the movie Super Bad and describe what high school was like for the “Super” trio of Seth, Evan, and, Fogell, through the focus of 3 main lenses: Friends; Social Experience; and Sexual Experience.
The activities that I have been involved with that has impacted me as a person today is my 2013 competition cheer team bible study. It was my freshman year on a varsity team and we had many setbacks throughout the season. People were getting hurt one after the other and we had to figure out a solution in order to win the state championship. This was all very frustrating and we just had to believe that God had a plan for us. We started a bible study with my coach, Barry every Friday before school. We would talk about our problems we faced that week/how we could overcome them. This bible study has changed my life completely and it continued to be every Friday of my next four years in high school. In this bible study I have learned what kind

I grew up in a christian family and I'm the middle of five siblings. I was homeschooled up till 3rd grade. In 4th grade a transfer to public school. I stayed in public school until halfway through my 7th grade year when I decided I wanted to be homeschooled until high school. I choose to come to Wheaton Academy because I wanted to experiencing something new. My high school years have been definitely worth the hard work and have been very rewarding. I love the level of freedom and trust the students at WA are given. A very significant experience for during my years at Wheaton Academy happened in March of my sophomore year when I decised I was interested in a future career in the military. This was a significant event for me because making this
Our hearts are so encouraged when we think of those who have graduated the Youth Transition Program and have entered into Christian marriage, or the work force, or even support the work of Bread of Life in some way.
Many modern-day Christians have a false depiction of what a life of Christianity entails. Many of these Christians believe that in order to get to Heaven they simply need to be baptized, recognize that Jesus is their savior, and ask for the forgiveness of their sins. Many only attend church when it is convenient for them and when it fits into their busy schedule. However, this is an elementary view of Christianity.
The closer I get to my high school graduation, the more I desire to continue my education in a Christian environment. I have gone to a Christian school for my whole life, and I am grateful for my experience because I am constantly surrounded by peers and teachers who love the Lord. A Christian school environment has fostered personal spiritual growth. Nonetheless, my spiritual life is not finished growing, which is why I am determined to attend a Christian college. The reason I desire to further continue my academic journey in a Christian environment is to enable myself to grow in my relationship with Christ. Additionally, I also desire to surround myself with peers, mentors, and faculty who have the same beliefs as myself. The opportunity
In today's world, there are many different ways to get involved in religion; various methods have attracted groups of all ages and races. One popular association is FCA or Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This particular group has helped me to find Christ in my own life. There are a lot of unconventional activities to help the younger generations get involved. Some of these activities included Death Week, which focused on death and pain, meetings about family and divorce, lectures to help people reach for their goals, and encouragement speakers. There is a great deal of fun incorporated into all the seriousness, though. We went on ski trips, did missionary work, and put on skits. All of these activities involved Christ in some way, and helped the younger generation to realize that being spiritual was not 'uncool.'; When I attended the FCA meetings, it was the one time that I actually felt free from all my problems. FCA helped me to find my spiritual self and gave me a sense of completion.
During my years in high school, many people within the church leadership affirmed my calling to teaching ministry. My youth pastor confirmed my called through affirmation and by giving me many responsibilities to teach. Several pastors from my church affirmed by gift of teaching, as well. I also received confirmation of my call to teaching through desire. Throughout the time of preparing messages or lessons, I received much joy in researching and learning. Similarly, I greatly appreciated opportunities to help others better understand what I learned about God and His nature. I have also received confirmation of my call to sports ministry. In my summer baseball team, I was blessed with the opportunity to share a verse and pray with my team before every game. Many of my teammates and their parents encouraged and affirmed me through this opportunity. I very much appreciated the opportunity to share my beliefs in the atmosphere of the baseball field. My high school baseball coach, high school team mates, and current baseball coach have affirmed me that my character on and off the field exemplifies faith. I am very grateful for, and I never want to take for granted, all of these examples of encouragement and affirmation. These examples of affirmation and desire have given me confirmation of my call to teaching ministry and sports
How can we spiritually grow closer to God and our peers around us? How can we develop our relationships with our friends in positive, beneficial ways? Activities such as camping, attending church, and participating in spiritual retreats can accomplish these goals. Engaging in Atlanta Adventist Academy's spiritual retreat this past weekend helped me to develop my character on spiritual, mental, and social levels. Throughout the course of the weekend, I was able to strengthen relationships between former and new friends, experience the mental and social aspects of teamwork, and learn how God works through negative situations.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss a service that I got to attend that was different from my own religious tradition. I decided to go with my chosen topic because to be honest I had never experienced or thought to experience a different type of church service other than the one I grew up in. I grew up in a Christian home and attended a non-denominational Christian church on a regular basis. I just never felt the need to experience something that was different. So I decided to attend a mass at a Catholic church. I had been to weddings in a Catholic church and even funerals with a Catholic involvement but not an actual mass.
