On September 9th, 2014, the prodigal son of the new generation of video games, Bungie’s Destiny, arrived. The wave of hype and hysteria that preceded this game was something of legend. People hailed it as ‘the next Halo’, the ‘hands down game of the year winner’, and even ‘the best video game all time’. It became the most pre-ordered game in history, tallying up nearly seven million preorders around the world, and it has continued to grow and expand its already massive following. As is usual when a game of the year contender comes out, I rushed to GameStop and picked it up as soon as I could. Now that I have beaten the game, I am able to take a step back and ask myself, “Is it really that good”. Every single one of them praised the game for its gameplay and skill systems. After each successive review, my excitement grew more and more. I felt like a young boy getting the gift he had wanted for Christmas. So, as soon as the game was installed I delved into the depths and insides of Destiny. The first level opened up with a mysterious robot reviving my previously dead character. I discovered I was being hunted by a mysterious race of aliens, and to get home I had to sneak and fight my way into an abandoned hangar, which just so happened to be infested with the aliens. Sounds good so far, right? That’s because it is. Then I came to a door and my ghost, a robotic companion voiced by Peter Dinklage, said that he must hack into a locked door to proceed farther into the compound. Still not bad, right? You fight off a few waves of enemies, go through the door, find a space ship, and start your adventure to find your destiny (pun intended). The opening got my blood pumping and had me itching for more, so I proceeded to play the rest of the story in a few Mountain-Dew-filled
