In this day and age, video games are a central point of entertainment in today’s society. Everyone loves getting great video games and playing them for weeks on end, but what makes a well developed game so good? I have broken it down into three criteria to help breakdown whether the Naughty Dog production, “The Last of Us”, is worth buying. The first criteria is that the game must contain good characters that make you feel empathy for them. The second criteria is that the storyline should pull the player in, making them feel like they are apart of the story and every choice that is made. The third criteria is that the video game should have the ability to adapt to each individual play style, whether it be going in “guns blazing” or stealth. …show more content…
Simply put, the world's gone to hell, and the apocalypse is long over. Sounds simple enough? It's a basic zombie story, with many of the tropes associated with those works. Where “The Last of Us” sets itself apart however, is its fresh new spin on the genre with excellently scripted adult storytelling and a powerful execution to boot, much in the same way as "The Walking Dead.” The expertise and execution in the writing and directing, and powerful adult storytelling is unbelievable, considering that these same guys once made Crash Bandicoot. Like all of us who grew up with PlayStation, so did Naughty Dog, almost as if they were developing their games for each stage of maturity for us; the little tykes that once had good ol' fun with Crash and Jak. I give the storyline a …show more content…
In fact, if you're good, there's maybe a handful of sections where stealth is disallowed, so you can play through almost the entire game subtly. You can find unique weapons throughout the game, though (as far as I know), you only have one chance to pick up certain weapons, one of which can only be found if you go out of your way to explore the area it's located. You can level up these weapons using workbenches, which cost various amounts of upgrade pieces, while certain upgrades will require you to find wrenches, and go up in
Final thoughts, it's awful and lives up to its poor reputation. I can understand why this film was straight to video and I can't honestly suggest to anyone. As a fan of the zombie genre, this one nearly put me to sleep. Which is something a zombie film shouldn't do. Because even with all the action going on on-screen, Day of the Dead still managed to be boring.
The state of the world under the portrayal by Romero is that which is not best suited for living persons to live as such the film makes it as a dystopian horror movie. The movie has implored on some themes which helps its overall portrayal of a horror film which rationally depicts a world in chaos. An example of some of the issues addressed in the movie is racial segregation which is brought about by the protagonist death by the red-neck people of the town at the end of the film. The main thematic concept developed by the film is that of pessimism and despair which one great characterized gesture of most horror films is. The pessimism and despair are brought to the fore when the heroic main characters at the end of the films such as Ben who is shot dead when he is confused to be one of the zombies, and subsequently his body burned with the other zombies. Further, at the beginning of the film, the audience is treated to a flattering American flag on foreground which has successively demonstrated that America is a dying nation as a result of the
The main protagonist in the film is the deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes who has been shot and when he wakes up he finds himself in a post apocalyptic world in which zombies are everywhere. He gets out on a search for his wife and son and reunites with them later. He finds out that there are many survivors just like him who must fight each other and the zombies in order to survive.
A misplaced shot to the head by a mysterious man in a checkered suit and a quick burial in a shallow grave kicks off the next chapter in Bethesda’s juggernaut series: Fallout: New Vegas. While New Vegas is more expansive and jam packed than any other Fallout game to date, “this game still feels like a huge, awesome expansion” (Steimer) to the game’s predecessor. The setting takes place in a massive west coast wasteland littered with gangs, death, and ravenous creatures contesting the rebuilt ruins of Las Vegas, renamed to New Vegas after the nuclear war with China, as the wastelands marvelous centerpiece. To complete all quests, missions, and adventures in the game, “expect to rack up a total of around 100 hours.” (Steimer).
Today in America, people can’t get enough of zombies, zombies are everywhere ranging from movies, books and tv shows. The entertainment business uses the zombie apocalypse theme in order to present a post apocalyptic situation that no other form of genre can really create. In American zombie apocalyptic entertainment, humans must face the horrors of survival and change, while fighting off the zombies, thus also challenging their morals. Pessimistic viewers may see the situation as depressing, prejudice and an means of expressing xenophobia. However optimistic viewers see the situation as an opportunity for better change, individually and as a collective community. A controversial example of this topic would be Robert Kirkman’s popular graphic novel, called The Walking Dead, filled with violence, betrayal and challenges. The Walking Dead can be read as a pessimistic text but the most appropriate way to read is
Zombies in popular culture first caught my attention when I saw Zombieland on opening night. Zombieland is a movie based in a post-apocalyptic world that has been torn apart by the undead. The story follows a college student who follows a list of rules in order to survive. He meets three other survivors, and they stick together in order to survive. Each of them find something that they have been looking for, Columbus, the main character, found love, Tallahassee finds a new family, Wichita and Little Rock find people they can trust.
I had never intended to read World War Z before this class began. In fact, I did not realize there was a text version in addition to the film version. This collection of personal stories from different aspects of the zombie wars was a mixed bag for me. There were some recollections that pulled on my heartstrings, and others that I could have gone without ever reading. In times of great turmoil, people are shown to be exactly who they are, their true colors shining through all of the masks and deception they have created. The entire world lived in fear during the time period of this novel, and watching their loved ones disappear or become part of the army of the undead had to be terrifying. The author might have chosen this topic because the threat of zombies invading the world is a fear that is as real to some as the war overseas is to others.
They setting takes place in a New York and it is basically telling us that in a few years our civilization is going to be destroyed. The story was told in New York ( The Place Of The Gods because New York is where everyone that doesn't live in New York looks at it and says thats the first place they wanna go to when they get to the US. WHat they see on T.v and social media reflects on their view towards New York.
This is making everyone start to put the needs of the one over the needs of the many and how each person is fighting for their preservation rather than banding together. This sort of self-preservation theme from the shock of the sudden apocalypse morphs into the book's second act where it seems like people are simply fighting for themselves and those that they once considered friends are now nothing to them. This eventually led to a total societal collapse where nobody was truly united as one. “I just heard everyone was buying everything down here. I didn’t want to miss out.
In the video game Enter the Matrix, released in 2003, the players take on the role of supporting characters in the film sequel Matrix Reloaded. The experience of game play can be described as an activity in which the player is virtually embodied in the game world. Anyone who has experienced the world of gaming knows how the engaging experience can manifest itself with “sweaty palms and chills down the spine” (http://www.eludamos.org/index.php/eludamos/article/viewArticle/80/147) when coming face-to-face with alien creatures; or with the adrenaline rush we get when racing a high speed automobile head-to-head with a friend.
