Personal Narrative: Determination

The first character trait that comes to my mind when I think about myself is determination. The process of advancing without fear to achieve a goal and not stopping until you do so perfectly describes me. Although there are some points in my life where my determination has lacked, for the most part, I manage to be determined. Overall, my strong capability of perseverance has greatly impacted my life and will continue to lead me away from just being average and more towards becoming a successful person that everyone strives to be. Also, my freshman year of high school I picked up two new sports I have never played before, Golf and lacrosse. I was so determined to become superior at both of these new sports I spent time outside of practice working on my skills and training harder than everyone else. Now, one year later and I play Varsity lacrosse and JV golf for the school. Certainly, I may not be the best player on my teams at times, but my determination to become greater than everyone else has distinguished me from your typical ordinary player. Without my diligence, I do not know where I would be today in sports. So while my determination helps me in the present by accomplishing goals and bringing new opportunities, it will also be vital in my future. An interview with my mom revealed that she believes my determination will “help you be successful in the future by making you pass up people lacking the amount of perseverance you have” (Susie Brown). This quote from my mom shows she thinks if I continue forwards with grit, I will do greater things than most people. An interview with my dad, on the other hand, had the same message, but a little more intense because he said “Your determination will let you achieve great things in
