My mother has owned a restaurant in Rupert, Idaho for eight years now. It is called Acapulco Restaurant. It was an authentic mexican restaurant. The dish that made the little restaurant so famous in the community were the burritos we sold. We did not have any small sizes available and the mediums were huge. There were so many ingredients required in the burrito it was difficult to make it compact into a ‘small’ size. I would say on average they were nine inches long and five inches wide. The business was going good, but after so many years working it, my mom along with the rest of my family started to get tired of working there. The look and feel of the restaurant is vastly different. When my mom was the cook, the windows had blinds; most were in good condition but there was one that looked dirty no matter how many times we cleaned it and another one that you had to manually switch the sides the blinds would turn. Now Janett has some see through light blue curtains on almost all the windows. The curtains give the place a nice elegant look and feel. Another thing different with the appearance of the place is that Janett has added a lot of pictures of the food. The are pictures as big as a sheet of paper hanging up on the wall surrounding the menue. There was also a painting hanging up of a traditional mexican building. With my mother's operation the painting hung in an awkward spot, but no one ever thought of moving it. Janett moved the painting to an area of the wall that was bigger and fit like it was meant to be there. Also, my father finally got around to fixing up the place. He always fixes our stuff last and everyone else's first, that's why the remodeling never got done. He fixed the trimming around the restaurant and repainted to place. However, with either person operating the layout and colors of the building were still the same. With Janet's decorations the place looks elegant, but the walls look cluttered, and with my mother's decorations the place looked simple and
There are many fast food places to choose from in the southwest region of the country. Two of the most common fast food restaurants are In-N-Out Burger and Jack in the Box. I have personally been employed at both of these establishments. The difference between the two is quality, price, and working environment.
One quality that is involved in a restaurant is the atmosphere and the positive energy it gives off. Considering the Western theme, they have the restaurant well decorated from the entrance, to the place where you sit. The walls are painted with tumbleweeds on them, with great lighting that allows you to see, and not go blind. The plates and silverware are very nice, as is the food that goes into them.
And with good reason! The sheer luxury of the property is overwhelming. The mansion has 34 beautifully decorated rooms that boast 15th through 19th century art and furnishings. While blending together harmoniously, there is nothing subtle about the elaborately carved furniture, voluminous drapes, ornate carvings, and the richly colored tiles. The intent is to convey the excesses of wealth, which it does, albeit with grace and elegance.

It was the summer of 2012 and my family was taking another trip to Six Flags Great America. Earlier that summer we went just for me to be disappointed. At the time I wasn’t 54 inches yet and couldn’t ride any of the rides that I wanted to because they were the most popular at the amusement park. But, I hit a growth spurt between trips and we planned to ride all of the big rollercoasters. The one that I was most terrified of at the time was Raging Bull, one of the tallest, fastest, and longest steel coasters in the US. As we started to wait in line for the ride I was shaking with both anticipation and fear and began to rethink my idea to ride the rollercoaster. I decided to stay in line and see what many people thought was a great coaster.
In 1993, the first Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant (pronounced chi-POAT-lay) in Denver, Colorado was opened by CEO and founder, Steve Ellis after he received $165,000 in investments from a bank loan and his father (Pederson). Ellis, a Culinary Institute of America grad and former chef, started the company’s first restaurant to raise money needed to one day operate his own full-service restaurant (Berta). The company’s menu includes burritos, tacos, salads and burrito bowls (burritos without the tortilla) made with customers’ choices of pork, shredded beef, chicken, steak, beans, veggies, and burrito condiments (sour cream, salsa, etc.) (annual report). When Chipotle was first established, Ellis did not like the restaurant’s closed kitchen format because customers would often have to yell out their food orders to employees who cooked in the back of the building. This format did not accommodate customers’ needs for direct contact with employees and have full control over their own choice of ingredients within their meals as cooking staff could make a mistake on their orders because of mishearing. This compelled the founder to change the restaurant’s current format to an open kitchen design in which customers could actually see and choose ingredients that are fully prepared for ordering on a buffet assembly line while being able to directly speak face to face with employees (Pederson). A couple of years later, Chipotle opened a few more restaurants in the Denver area each generating $1 million in sales through word of mouth marketing and employing about 17 workers in each facility (Pederson). There have been times in my life where I have bought ramen noodles with some change that I had to hunt for. I have made it in coffee pots, I have ate it uncooked from the package, and I have perfected making it in a cup at a gas station. Ramen is a glowing reminder that everything is going to be okay even if it really sucks right now.
I’ve always been a fan of challenging ideas. If I have opinions that are different than other people’s, I try to make my point. A lot of things I argue are insignificant, like whether Taco Bell or Chipotle is the superior chain restaurant. But not all of my challenges are meaningless.
