If I was to choose a perfect team of reflective change agents I would choose a few people close to me, people, whom are near to the issues that are commonly unchanged in education. The first person I would choose to be on my team of reflective change agents would be my Highschool buddy Destiny. Destiny has always been one to appreciate culture, life, and religion. My friend Destiny graduated from UC Berkley in 2015 and has been working with inner-city kids in Oakland and Richmond California since. I would choose Destiny first because we have a lot of the same values and would be a good base to implement change. The next person I would choose would be my mother Taliba Carr. Not only is she my family and one of my favorite people on the planet.
Dr. Tanisha L. Heaston, principal of Treadwell Elementary talks to me about educational change. In my first meeting and interview with her, she displays many if not all the leadership benchmarks of a Change Master and Facilitator. Defined by McEwan (2003), a Change Master is a highly effective principal who is flexible and futuristic. A realistic leader who is able to both motivate and manage change in an organized, positive, and enduring fashion. As a Change Master, she uses a situational approach since every school community requires somewhat different skills. Dr. Heaston respects change resisters, procures resources for her school, and trusts her teams which aligns with ISLLC Standard Six.
Capitalism has widely been regarded as one of the most advanced intellectual achievements of the past few centuries. However, a system which is largely credited for alleviating “human misery” is actually perpetuating it (Goldberg, 6). Capitalism inherently fuels inequality leading to poverty among the powerless. Jonah Goldberg in his article, Capitalism Has Lifted Billions Out of Poverty, attributed the economic theory to ending poverty, but failed to recognize that capitalism’s lofty goals are merely fulfilled on paper. Equal opportunity must exist for capitalism to end human misery, however the stratification of society ensures that no individual has equal access to the keys of capitalist success.

The fears I have had since I was a little girl have disappeared with age, but the one I cannot dispense with is my fear of complete change. I do not mind change but only in moderation. Even though many anticipate the day they have to leave for college, I dread the idea of deserting everything and everyone I know. Even after understanding that change benefits me by obtaining more life experiences and developing into a mature adult, I still am hesitant. The idea of having more reflective assignments I believe is genius because it allows pre-service teachers to evaluate themselves and their student as well as critically analysis the process. This will allow in-depth thought on presuppositions and the challenges compared to what actually happens.
One reason for Reflection being used is to give practitioners the chance to change an aspect within their setting, which they feel can be improved in order to help the development of children within their practice. Reflective practice is about improving practice and coming up with theories to support the improvement (Holmes, 2011, p.7). Reflective practice using critical reflection will allow the practitioners to identify what they do well and what they need to improve on within their Early Years settings. It can also give practitioners the opportunity to develop their professional identity, and work at improving their working environment (Forde et al, 2006, p.65, 66). By allowing practitioners the chance to improve their working environment, it can have a huge influence on the children and their development within the Early Years. For example, a teacher looking back and being reflective over their lesson, will allow them to make amelioration for when they teach that lesson again, thus leading to further learning development of the

Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
“We’re moving,” said my mother after she had enough. I just wanted to make her happy after everything she had been through. She lived an arduous life: she escaped communist Vietnam, only to settle down and subsequently deal with a decaying marriage that forced her to raise me alone. I didn’t ask questions or wonder about all the things I was leaving behind. In the long run, I just wanted to please everyone.
There is a point in everyone’s life when they step back and realize “I can’t do this anymore, it’s ruining my life”. Many of my friends have started smoking cigarettes while drinking at a very young age, and continue to use this drug currently and don’t realize the affect it has on their future. While I have been smart enough to avoid smoking, I haven’t been as wise at making decisions when it comes to drinking. The amount of partying I’ve done in college has taken over my life, and has had a huge impact on my grades. Changing my drinking habits and continuing to avoid cigarettes will enable me to be the best I can be for the rest of my college experience.

I had a relationship with a very important person, our relationship isn’t what people think. He was Bill Goff, but to me he was “Papa”. My Papa was the most kind and gentle person I have met in my lifetime, he was full of wisdom. I was about six or seven when he passed away, he had lung cancer but the chemotherapy did more harm then it did healing. He used to make some of the best Kool-Aid and lemonade I have ever tasted. One time we had went to fish and my Papa, had brought my cousins this time. He had found this tree and told us to climb it, so we climbed in it and he took our pictures and we still have those pictures. We used to watch Tom and Jerry on the television, daily. We would always go fishing at Dead Indian Lake near Cheyenne, OK. This one time we went fishing and I had caught a fishing trying to get its last meal. It was getting eaten by a different fish. One other time when we went fishing I had caught the biggest bass of my life, or at last it felt like it when I was five years old. My papa and I had a bond that could not brake and not one time did he doubt anything that I had said.
No neighborhood is perfect there is always something that is able to be bettered. With our neighborhood, Floyd, we can do a better job of getting teens off the streets at night to help keep them out of trouble. Floyd has a drug problem and yet most try to hid it we can’t anymore. One way we can try and get teens off the streets and away from the thought of doing drugs is by having more police officers or setting a curfew and have officers enforce it. If Floyd doesn’t want to spend money on putting more officers on the streets they could always just close off the back alleyways where most of the drugs are dealt to help and reduce them.
Don't try to change everything immediately. And the more reflective you become, the more you will notice. Take it one day at a time. The greatest reward of becoming a reflective practitioner is that you become aware of how insightful and capable your students are. All teachers can develop habits of mind conducive to effective decision making.
This week had the biggest impact on my professional growth. During this week, I learned that meaningful reflection is " the practice or act of analyzing our actions, decisions, or products by focusing on our process of achieving them (York-Barr, Sommers, Ghere & Montie, 2006). There are many benefits of reflecting in the field of education. The most influential is the effect that reflection has on the learning that your students gain. If a teacher meaningfully reflects on their practices they will create lessons to better impact students. According to Carol Ann Tomlinson (2003), “Teacher reflection inevitably attends directly to students ' need for affirmation, contribution, power, purpose, and challenge.” Each time a teacher reflects on their work, they empower their students to learn more. Students recognize their teacher’s reflection and mimic their behavior. I feel like learning about reflection impacted me most because it showed me that I should reflect on the good and the bad. Everything that I teach should be reflected on. The more that I reflect on my work, I will be closer to becoming an expert teacher. Reflection has the biggest impact on professionalism as a teacher.
