Honest Abe was the epitome of a person who upheld the principles of ethical behavior. Throughout my high school career, I have always been self-aware of making ethical decisions and having the valuable trait of integrity, much like Abraham Lincoln had. I personally define ethics by the moral decisions I make every day. As for integrity, it’s the quality of being true to myself. I believe both these traits are very important, both in school and in my future life after college. I can recount several scenarios where I was faced with an important decision, and I recalled my personal ethical ideals that assisted me in making the right choice. I know the choices I make every day will impact me for the rest of my life, and I am prepared to face any challenge with my ethics and morals by my side.
There are many challenges I have faced during high school. One of the more prominent challenges is whether to stay committed to studying, or partying that can lead to a lack of focus on what’s important. Thankfully, I have chosen to stay within my studies and not give in to peer pressure. I have been confronted by people and asked if I wanted to go to parties, and I say no. I have seen great high school athletes get scholarships taken away just because they thought partying was more important than their studies, and this is a real-life issue with teenagers. I see what can happen if I make the wrong decision only once. I learned that I cannot give in to peer pressure, no matter how tempting it might be. Also, my reputation can be hurt if I was to party, this would affect my relationship with my friends and possibly my family. Regarding my grades, they have been amazing because of my decision, and I am thankful for that. While other kids are worried about hanging out with friends, I am studying harder and achieving more. If I keep this up in college, I will succeed to my fullest
