In this essay I am going to talk about my academic skills journey. In order to achieve my goals I must build up my strengths and be acquainted with my weaknesses. Moreover, I will focus on one major skill that every student, who wants to build a career in Criminology and Criminal justice sector, will must accomplish; time management skill . In order to work in the criminal justice system it is a necessary need of self directed learning. All the research must be done with self discipline. Becoming overwork and stressed because of the deadline lead to distraction and failure. For this reason, planning the time wisely means to be a good criminology practitioner (Fink and Fafinski, 2012). Therefore, this essay is about my path which is intended to be followed in the next few years in order to enhance my future career skills.
Firstly, this essay will look at the importance of developing time management skills. Secondly, it will focus on my prior experiences and the reason why I need to address this concern. Time management skill was an area where I struggled to succeed at the beginning of my academic year. The essay will explain the steps that I took in order to use my time in a successful way. I am also going to reflect about the effectiveness of the actions that I took. Moreover, it will also look at the further actions that I need to take in order to address these issues and to meet the SMART criteria.

Now at the end, I am feeling like I had so much support from so many people and I will feel ashamed if I will fail to show a great improvement of my ability to deal with time. However, I believe that the only way to succeed is to keep practicing. I learned that I always need a well structured action plan in order to be calculated and to solve problems calmly and seriously. In the workplace, time management is an important factor in everyone’s day-to-day work. If a person’s time is well managed, it is possible to achieve a greater amount in a shorter space of time. How effectively people manage their time has a major influence on aspects of their working lives and their personal lives. Effective time management can have a hugely positive effect on a person, it can lead to a focused and disciplined mentality, giving a higher level of productivity, greater efficiency and an all round positive attitude in life. This benefits the individual, their team, the company they work for and also their friends and family. An example of this is an employee who prioritises their jobs at the start of the day; this gives them a structured day and ensures they have time to complete all of the important jobs. However, if time is poorly managed it can lead to inefficiencies, work overload and added pressure, this could eventually lead on to other issues such as stress.

This calls a need for people especially students in college to warm up to the fact that if they are unable to manage their time appropriately while in school it is apparent that as they transition into their working life they will demonstrate the same effects still while on the job.
I will start by explaining the methods that make it easier for me to know my characters and skills. The first method is self-knowledge (McBride, 2010). I am very interested in studying criminology, the subject of criminology is one I have been fascinated by for a few years now.
