This paper examines both my strengths and weaknesses upon completion of a Competing Values Skills profile. Personal and corporate self-evaluation can help managers diagnose their roles and skills, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop action plans for improvement breakthroughs (Belasen, 2000, p. 59). First, I will discuss my current skill set that was identified through self-assessment. Next, I will discuss the necessary development plan needed to remedy particular deficiencies and finally, I will discuss how this CVF profile broadened my thinking and how with this information, I can elevate my value and placement in my workplace.
Survey Analysis Through the self-assessment, I was able to self-examine my leadership styles, see what
To overcome this obstacle, I make sure that I can identify those individuals that exhibit this as a strength and work with them to get ideas. Although this acknowledges a self-awareness and the ability to communicate cross functionally, this does not offer any self-improvement value. Chamorro-Premuzic (2015) believes, to some degree, our creativity levels are hard to change. They come down to personality traits such as intellectual curiosity, openness to experience, and unconventionality, which are largely set by the time we reach early adulthood. Creativity therefore, is not 100% malleable – personality sets its limits – yet it can still be nurtured via deliberate interventions, especially over a long period of time. My development activity is to fist seek more feedback. Chamorro-Premuzic (2015) shares with us, employees who seek more feedback have been shown to perform more creatively than their counterparts. Obstacles in my way include the suppression of irrelevant thoughts. Making a conscious effort to be more open will allow mw to over time better develop this competency.
Strengths to build off of include setting goals and objectives, as well as working productively. Development activities to monitor over the next 90 days to continue to build on this setting goals and objectives include; continuing to prioritize, assign and align the purpose and goal of the activity. Resources to use include planning tools, lists, and data gathering and integration. Obstacles to overcome include setting unrealistic deadlines. To build on working productively, I will continue to use the tools I have received from a Franklin Covey time management class and prioritize what is urgent and

When it comes to management and leadership within any organization, there are fundamental components to consider, of which, managers of all backgrounds embody. One way to briefly assess these foundations is through Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS), allowing examination of skill competencies from a number of strengths and weaknesses that can be brought to attention. This analysis will briefly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the PAMS examination results and analyze the skill competencies and how they impact the role as an ethical leader. For the purpose of this examination, strengths will be assumed to be topics where the quality is in abundance. This comes with the assumption that while their importance may
Many types of thinking are used with critical thinking. Among those of types of thinking, creative thinking has shaped the world into what it is today and what it evolves into in the future. Children are born as creative thinkers. However, if one does not improve and build upon his or her creative skills, the creative thinking potential may diminish throughout a lifetime. “Creative thinking involves creating something new or original. It involves the skills of flexibility, originality, fluency, ima...
The reason why I am discussing it in terms of psychological issue in Society is that creativity is a non-linear thought-process of mind that we are now trying to systematize. (Prior, 2009) After all, it is about individual people using their brain in a way that would result in inno-vation, this might lead to re-organization of our working and living habits, because creativity requires different settings and stimuli than productivity, that has been in the center of our thinking since the industrial age. I recognize, that in this instance, I am not exploring a prob-lem as such, but rather an process where one particular cognitive skill has been rai...
It’s important to employ individuals with creativity to keep fresh ideas and to manage projects effectively. This article was extremely informative, provided resources as to different personality and cognitive tests that should be used to assess the creativity of an individual and provides a guide for evaluating creativity in job candidates. An improvement to the research article would be samples of structured interview questions employers could use for assessment of job
Many times we can get so busy and wrapped up in our jobs that we may lose sight of how we are actually performing as a leader. Self-Assessment exercises offered in the reading material offer a valid look into strengths as well as opportunities for improvement. The first assessment that began to make me think about my leadership role deals directly with social motives in the work setting.
Values remind me of ethics and morals, necessary in any walk of life and imperative in the work place. These concepts are guidelines in which employees need to follow to be successful. “Values represent basic convictions that a specific mode of conduct or end-state of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end-state of existence.” (Robbins, 136) Integrity, courage, service, wisdom, respect and goal setting are a few of the values that are most crucial to me and what I hope to achieve within any work place setting. Values should be lived every day in the work place and should exemplify the

Creativity is a key component of success in later adulthood for problem-solving and cognitive abilities (Plucker, 2010).
Creativity is a skill parents can help their children develop. Since creativity is a key to success in most of what we do, creativity is a core skill that should be practiced with children. Creativity is not limited to artistic and musical expression—it is also essential for science, math, and even social and emotional intelligence. Creative people are more flexible and better problem solvers, which makes them more able to adapt to technological advances and deal with change—as well as take advantage of new opportunities. All in all, creativity is the ability to form new ideas, often from old ideas. Therefore, the factors that affect creativity are not inherited.
Creativity can be caused by certain states of mind or situations. One state of mind that can promote creativity is happiness or a positive mood. As said by PBS, “Creativity is less likely to be present with negative emotions such as fear, anger, sadness and anxiety; it is positively associated with positive emotions such as joy, love, and curiosity” (Creativity). This shows that with a positive attitude you can promote creativity. Along with promoting creativity, this link can also make us interested in the world around us and create even more happiness. To create happiness, you must pursue what you 're interested in and have a passion in that subject. This is agreed-upon in a TED talk where the speaker said, “So I always say to people, forget it. Like, if you don 't have an obvious passion, forget about it. Follow your curiosity because passion is sort of a tower of flame that is not always accessible” (Where Does Creativity Come From?). So in summary if you pursue your passion you can create happiness which in turn can create
Creativity is a key part in the entrepreneurial process. It is the ability to invent something new or change something (Webster, 1976). According to (Cromie, 2000), Creative people show some particular characteristics. They find problems very interesting and are not afraid of obstacles; rather, they try to find out the solution of those problems.
According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development. When working on the self- assessment tests, I found myself fall into the category of the ISTJ personality types, which as illustrated by Myers Briggs, is the type of personality that is conscientious, considerate, and helpful. Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. In this reflection paper, I will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that may place the most influence on my way of success.
