I’m Giavanna Gomes, i’m currently writing to you about your beautifully written book “the perks of being a wallflower”. I’m writing to you about “the perks of being a wallflower because i relate so much to the book, and the way it was written was absolutely incredible. To quickly sum up the book, or what i got from the book at least.. It’s about a 15 year old boy named charlie who is just entering high school and is trying to get through the experience of friends, bullies, jocks, drama, crushes, family life, school work, and still trying to figure himself out all while still suffering the loss of someone he loved dearly. This book really changed my perspective on so much. It really allowed me to change my perspective on how to react, because sometimes our reactions are stronger than we intend them to be, and we end up hurting them more. Although the book may seem like it’s a lot to take in, if you completely pay attention i noticed that it’s simple, really. I honestly think this is the first book i truly connected to. This book has taught me so much, it’s honestly unbelievable. In this book “the perks of being a wallflower”, there were …show more content…
This book also really made me realize how valuable your friends are, and that changed me because i treat my friends with so much more value now.I also realized after reading the book that you shouldn’t beat yourself up for things you can’t control, i find myself doing that alot, but quickly remember your book, then realize.. Maybe i shouldn’t be doing that. I was also completely oblivious to the fact that just because you don’t understand something now doesn’t mean you won’t understand it in the future and i think that really changed me for the better. There were so many things that changed me and turned me into the happier person i am
After reading this book I think the difference it makes in life is too continuing go for greatness. No matter how bad it may seem right now in life Wes Moore proved that you can still become something great in life. A quote I took from this book was “Failing doesn't make us a failure. But not trying to do better, to be better, does make us fools.” (Moore) I know people who have given up on a lot of things in life because of bumps in the road. I would say this book changes how I look at the lives of others, but in two different ways. One way would be that be can change their life arounds even if they grew up that way. The second would be that sometimes you need to break off from people that might not help you grow in
This book was brilliant. There were moments that made me laugh, moments that made me tremble in my chair, moments that made me cry, moments that melted my heart, and moments that made me want to rip my hair out at the roots. This book has it all, and it delivers it through a cold but much needed message.
My increased knowledge on this topic makes me want to help these children. I am going to college to become a School Psychologist and I know the impact of this book will carry on with me in my career. I now feel that I have a better insight about the true problems that exist in this type of environment and will be better prepared if I will be working in it.
“Wallflowers” by Donna Vorreyer is a piece that truly makes one ponder over the slightest things the average human being overlooks every day. When one typically hears the word wallflower, one tends to think of those people standing on the wall at a party, just minding their own business. They do not say much, rather they stand around and take in all that is going on around them. It is seldom that they are noticed because they are so quiet and shy that they keep to themselves, but they still hold onto those hopes that the light will shine on them one day. Every person needs at least a bit of attention from someone every once in a while, whether they like to accept the fact or not. Therefore, the moral of the poem is that everyone has a place where they belong in this world; whether it be with those that pretend

“For a time after its birth, the child does not differentiate between itself and the mother upon whose nurture it relies, or the blanket whose warmth it enjoys, or the pillow whose softness supports its head.” This excerpt from Kaja Silverman’s, The Subject of Semiotics, presents an interesting ideology that can be identified in many adolescent literatures. Some coming of age novels can contain an important character who may cause a disruption to the symbolic order within the text. That is the case with Stephen Chbosky's, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, because one of the main characters is a flamboyant boy by the name of Patrick.
