There are a variety of ways to communicate with people and often times the type of communication chosen depends on the information being communicated and the personalities of the people involved in the communication. There are two classifications for communication, active and passive. Active communication consists of lining up schedules and attendance so people can be present. Passive communication allows people to access and respond to the communication on their own schedule. We will focus on three popular forms of communication including webinars, face to face meetings and email as means of communication.
Webinars are defined as, “a seminar or other presentation that takes place on the Internet, allowing participants in different locations

Successful face-to-face communication requires preparation, being concise and attentive. Presenters must know what information needs to be presented and what the goal of communicating must be. Being concise and straight to the point is key to achieving these goals while respecting others time. “Great conversation is like a tennis match. One person serves up their thoughts and the other reciprocates, back and forth, back and forth” (Jenkins, 2014). It is important and respectful to focus on the meeting at hand putting off distractions from phones or a wondering …show more content…
However, there are some big drawbacks to using email. One drawback is that some email users might not read their email on a regular bases and important communications can be delayed. One of the biggest problems with emails is that they can be misunderstood. There is no direct feedback as to whether the audience has read the email, understood the email or even gotten the email at all. The presenter must follow up on emails sent to make sure they have effectively reached the intended audience. Personally I try to include a question in important emails for the reader to answer back to me, this way I know the email has reached them and opens up a place for further

There are types of communication that we use in our daily life, which are: verbal and non-verbal communication. The way you react to those communications is effective too. Both of these types of communication can be very effective when you communicate with someone or people. Effective communication also depends on who we are talking and whether we agree with what they are saying. Effective communication can solve this friendship breakdown. Non-verbal communication with you friend could be: eye contact, body language (positive and negative), posture, , facial expressions and head movements. Non-verbal communication can be misinterpreted.
Communication is the process of conveying information to each another using words, actions, or by writing the information down to be read by another person. Communication is something that most people do at some point each day, and is an important part of life especially in a working environment. “The concept of communication is an essential part of every profession, and it is required to foster and maintain healthy relationships”( Jasmine, 2009, para. 1).
Electronic communication is not just about having a website; there are other aspects to it too.
Theories of Communications, is a course that allowed me to further gain a far better perspective and has also broadened my understanding and knowledge of some of the major theories. I appreciate the fact, that during the course of the semester, this class really did an admirable job introducing me to a variety of well known and widely studied theories in the communication feild. One of the biggest things I took out of this class, was how the class impled me to learn how to apply some of the theories to my life in a practical way through some of the class activities, readings, group work, presentations, and assignments. In the following paper, there will be three main things I will be covering. I will start off by introducing all members of my family, and describing a little bit about them individually. I will then be talking about the five theories I selected that I can applyto myself and my family. I will then describe each of the five theories, give an example of my own families experiance that aplies to the theories, and give an analysis of the experiance using the theory. And lastly, I will share with you my conclucion, which will conclude basically all of the things that I learned through writing this paper.
I have also learned about different types of audiences and speeches including persuasive, informative, entertaining and delivering special occasion speeches. It came to my attention that whenever I was making these presentations or speeches, I needed to do so with confidence, consistence and practice before the actual presentation and completely eliminate the element of panic. It was also clear that capturing the attention of the audience and engaging them in the whole process, it was necessary to have a very strong introduction and also try and use visuals to deliver the message. It was therefore vital to respect each person’s diversity and cultural values (Lucas, 2011).
Because there is little to no face-to-face interactions and communication is based on phone calls, instant messaging, and e-mails, sometimes the vocal inflections and absence of body language can change the delivery of a message causing confusion, misinterpretation, and frustration. "Moreover, a receiver can misinterpret the tone of the message because of the way the message was constructed (e.g., use of capital letters, e-mail slang and icons, setting the level of importance as urgent)." (Pang) The lack of face-to-face also makes it harder to remember a lot of what is being communicated since our minds are less engaged because we cannot read the emotional subtext. "Your unconscious mind handles the chore of sensing other people 's attitudes and intents from body language. And because the way the brain remembers things is to attach emotion to them, if there 's no intent or emotion, we don 't remember much." (Morgan) In virtual meetings, social cues are also lost; the cues to indicate if the audience is confused, not interested, or lost in the conversation is eliminated. "Human face-to-face interaction is, and will continue to be, the most effective form of communication. It 's simple. Live meetings deliver the rich, potent experiences that virtual meetings can 't. They deliver motivation along with messaging, and inspiration with information." (Jarrett) However, since

Fred Luthans writes, “The behaviors that occur in an organization are vital to the communication process.” (Luthans, 2011, pg. 249) She will need to be able to communicate effectively with her employees. She will need to follow-up with her employees to make sure they understand what she said. She will want to have an open communication channel with her employees. Additionally, Jill can create an open door relationship with her employees where her employees can come to her with their problems and she will do her best to help them solve their problems. Jill will want to give feedback to her employees and ask for feedback from her employees. When I first started in management, I informed my employees I was always there to talk to them. If they came to with a question that I did not know the answer, I would make a point to find the answer and get back with them in a reasonable amount of time. Jill would benefit from having an interactive communication with her employees. Interactive communication will give the employees the chance to have a say and can help build a stronger relationship between Jill and her employees. The interactive communication would generate varying ideas that Jill might not have thought of to use. Interactive communication can be used to “task coordinate, problem solve, information sharing, and conflict resolution”. (Luthans, 2011, pg. 258) This type of communication is an active process that causes the people in the group to be active in the on-going conversation with each other and discuss things with one
The way we communicate can be very important in representing ourselves in our community. In the beginning, of the semester, we watched a movie regarding a royal member whom was looked down upon because of his verbal pauses. However, throughout the movie he learns to work with his speaking style. He may have not completely eliminated the flaw but, he did learn how to overcome and adjust with it is style of public speaking. Public speaking is very power it as the authority to make an audience shock, upset, surprised, disbelief, and even to become inspired. By using structure in a speech and applying ethos, pathos, and logos can create a deeper connection to the audience. Therefore, the most impactful part of a speech is its introduction. Such that if the speaker implies a power attention getter they are able to deliver their message successfully. In my class presentation, the times I won speaker of the day I noticed that within my speech the only reason why I was selected was because I provided a strong attention getter and because my voice was very loud and it had minimal of verbal pauses. I have learned that any speech can be delivered successfully when the elements of structure and practiced are present. For most of my presentation to prepare I would practice my speech by recording myself with a tape recorder and then replying. This allowed
Communication is the sharing of information between two or more persons or groups to reach a common understanding. In the communication, the information or ideas conveyed must be understood. Effective communication allows participants to properly exchange ideas. Communication is the two way process of exchanging information. Communication can be done through oral, verbal and written communication. Information is transmitted as words, tone of voice, and gestures and postures. my research. This article talks about how face-to-face communication leads to stronger relationships, the enhancement of being able to read nonverbal cues, more engagement towards the topic of discussion and how it’s easier to make sure the people you are addressing actually understand what
The internet has revolutionized all forms of communication since the beginning of its existence. The world has now become smaller' or more like a global village', so to speak. The internet was first used by the U.S military for communications purposes. The internet, from the communication point of view, has brought on new developments and techniques to keep in touch not only for individuals, but for businesses as well. An example of how the internet has impacted communication would be an example of doctors now communicating through live video feeds via the internet with patients or other doctors to diagnose patients or to even guide and advise surgeons through complicated procedures.
“DA-DA!” Who would have known that a simple word like that could be so powerful and strong enough to make a grown man like myself cry. In every job setting, a great way to represent ourselves is through communication. Communication is stemmed from the act of speech, in which plays a huge role, not only at a workplace but in reality as well. Speech is simply a higher form of communication between two or more people. Great speech practices may enhance a person’s opportunity of moving up within the company he or she works for, as well as venturing off to higher positions in a professional field. Having the ability to speak well is closely related to the ability to listen well. Speaking well in a professional setting can cause one to stand out over others more and help interpret a great first impression of who that person is.
Communication is used to interact with other individuals. There are a variety of ways of how people can communicate with one another. I would say in this day in age, the two most popular forms of communication would be face to face and virtual interaction. Face to Face interaction is when we are in real life and communicating. Virtual interaction is through a computer-generated source helping people communicate virtually.
