PB&J Sandwich

One thing that is most common in each American household in America is the love of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, affectionately known as a PB&J sandwich. This culinary perfection has been around for years and the recipe has been change over and over again.

When my mother was living in Jamaica, she only knew about a peanut butter sandwich. She never knew about grape jelly until she came to the states in 1981 when she started to work as a babysitter. So when I started to attend Pre- K in 1994, naturally, she packed in my lunchbox for my lunch. Unfortunately I started disliking it in no time. I was always joked on for not likening PB&J sandwiches but kids in the neighborhood always gave me different recipes that sometimes only had peanut butter without jelly or jelly without peanut butter.

When I entered high school I started babysitting children and each child had his or her own sandwich. Marshawn loves the peanut butter with honey (Picture 1) on white bread with slices of banana. Tyhere is Marshawn's twin brother but he enjoys whipped creamy peanut butter (Picture 2) on wheat with honey nut Cheerios crushed on top. My cousin Kayla love to have creamy peanut butter with banana and strawberries (Picture3) on honey wheat bread. Kayla's younger sister is allergic to most fruits so I give her white chocolate peanut butter with honey on extra fiber bread. Abigail loves her sandwich on toasted honey wheat bread, topped with crunchy peanut butter brown sugar and pancake syrup.

Smucker’s slogan is "with a name like smucker’s, it has to be good". From what I saw in Kroger, there wasn't much smucker products on the shelves. But from the little that I saw they had all peanut butter that was 99.4% natural. It is so natural the...

Jewish Rye bread is another type of bread that can be used. it has two different types seeded (picture 14 .) or seedless(picture 15). The two breads have low-fat, no cholesterol and no high fructose corn syrup.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been made and eaten for centuries around America and even in other countries. If one likes the contrast between thickness, smooth, and savory, then sandwich for you! Children and adults love it because it has the taste of peanuts and the sweetness of jelly and you can make different variations of it so you will never get tired of it. Don't relive your childhood with artificial food coloring and high sugar contents! Give yourself, your children and your grand children a nutritious lunch that they will love!
