I feel like my strongest trait is that I am very independent. I focus more when I work alone. I can be shy at times. I really do not like attention. I just want to do my work and be left alone honestly. Group work really helps me, depending on who is my group. I am trying to be successful in college. I do not want to be the same person that is in high school now. My problem is that I don’t take high school exceedingly. I know I can pass high school without giving my best effort. I procrastinate way too much now. I need to eliminate that main factor for college. Being around people that want to have a successful life will make me a better person. Having positive vibes is one of my goals. If I can accomplish that goal, I believe that I will have a very positive life. …show more content…
I love those two hobbies because I can be myself and be creative. Intrinsically, I am blessed to be able to do these hobbies. Basketball brings out my personality. When I am playing basketball it brings out all my problems and anger. Instead of bringing my problems and anger out on people, I bring it out on the court. I think that’s why I enjoy to play basketball because I can be myself and get rid of my problems. My mother always asks me why I never smile. It is because I am angry. Furthermore, I play because my mom struggles ‘to take care of me and my five brothers by herself. I remember when I was in the third grade, and I would have to stay at home and watch my little brothers. She did not have money to pay for a babysitter. That’s why I play my heart out every game, so I will not see her struggle. If I ever make it to the WNBA, the first thing I will buy is a house for my mom. I want to be the best player that I can be. I enjoy the game of basketball. It is my
Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gain a broader perspective on life.
Personally I am certain my strongest personality trait is my support. I am a very supportive person, particularly toward those I care most about but also to people I know that have a goal
Most people tend to let ones anxiety control him, their fears scare them and obstacles get in their way. If one lets this get in his way, then there’s no possible way that he will be able to overcome his obstacles. For example, a great artist named Phil Hansen had been diagnosed with nerve damage and he let his obstacles get in his way of creating art. In addition to this, a journalist named James Collier suffered of anxiety and he let his anxiety control him. Hansen had to embrace his shake, Collier overcame his anxiety and I had to overcome anxiety at a certain point in my life as well. Having that said, overcoming obstacles will allow one to surpass his.
It runs through my veins and I cannot live without it. For a long time I did not know who I was but one day, through a basketball camp, a coach helped me realize what my identity was. He helped me figure out that i am a child of God. All my uncles played basketball along with both of my Grandfathers. For a long time I thought that basketball had to be the only thing to define me but, it does not.
As a child my parents worried about my educational development. They didn’t know if I was going to be able to keep up with the other children. I was in the third grade and didn’t know any English. I struggled academically my remaining elementary years to catch up to the other children, but it wasn’t long until I exceeded my peers in middle school.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
Have you ever wondered if there could possibly be overwhelming obstacles in the way of someone being truly successful in life? Some may witness friends or loved ones not developing to their fullest potential in their profession because of these unobtainable obstacles holding them back. In “Professions for Women,” by Virginia Woolf, Woolf gives a speech to a group of women explaining why they must overcome certain things in order to be successful in their future professional careers. In speaking to this group of determined young women, Woolf explains how horrendous it may be to have your own thoughts or beliefs while living in a society said to be dominated by males. She
My grandpa always told me, “Nothing can stop you, and you will one day be the basketball player you want to be.” I have always been playing basketball, and
I started playing basketball when was 9 years old. Before for me basketball is just a game that waste my time, but today it means a lot.
Every person is faced with obstacles in their life that change a persons life completly. It is dependent on how a person takes a situation that defines the outcome. At the current moment a person may see no positivity coming out of the situation but as time progresses a person realises that despite the pain their is a blessing along with it even if it may be unclear. An obstacle that usually takes a person by surprise is usually death. It is never expected and a person does't really wish to experience it or is prepared for it. Being a young person I never though of losing anyone so close to me and inclusively not another person that was around my same age. However, God has plans for each person and I believe that everything he does is for a reason.
In life, many are faced with obstacles that challenge them. The challenges can be simple or large. No matter the obstacle or challenge the person is facing, it is to them a great battle. There are two very important people that I admire that faced adversity and similar struggles, they overcame them in their own ways. I will try to compare their journeys even though they were different ages and of a different time period. I will try to relate how through prayer, faith and family support they were able to overcome their adversities in similar ways. These are two different people who inspired me through their strengths, weaknesses and family values.
Obstacle is a double-edged sword, they both have double effects, which are advantages and disadvantages to people. For many of us it is easy to blame the obstacles instead of ourselves, and they don't recognize that they are the real causes of failure. When people accept the dilemma, they think they can see the failure through the dilemma, and these won’t change. We all need resilience because we can’t get happiness, success, and other elsa without meeting hardship along the way. The problem is if we limit our understanding of resilience, and we also limit our strain capacity. If we are going to change the status quo, it requires that we confront injury, hardship, and other obstacles. There is more than one way to solve anything, but if we’re
Basketball is one of the interesting sports I have always wanted to engage myself; even as a little child. It was a dream come true when I started playing basketball in my high school. Moreover, I was very good in it, and I became the team leader. Of course, I enjoyed every bite of the time I spent playing basketball.
Some of the reasons I love basketball are because it is challenging, helps me improve myself as a person, and teaches me a lot about life. In this sport, I have learned how to mentally prepare myself for hardships. When I am in a game and down two points with only a few seconds left on the clock, I know exactly which play to run. I also know how to use what energy I have left in my body and mental...
