In addition to this, a journalist named James Collier suffered of anxiety and he let his anxiety control him. Hansen had to embrace his shake, Collier overcame his anxiety and I had to overcome anxiety at a certain point in my life as well. I had applied at an office job where I knew I was going to be interviewed. I had to sleepless nights for two weeks straight. I had been worried and unsure about what might happen most of the time. I had been a bit isolated from my family and friends and I had problems breathing when I would overthink the outcomes of my interview. I even postponed my interview because I wasn’t feeling well and prepared. The manager then called me in to be interviewed. I didn’t want to go alone, so I had my mom come with me. In addition to this, the whole ride there, my hands were shaking and didn’t allow me to drive straight. As soon as I got there I started panicking and felt butterflies in my stomach as I was being interviewed. Arthur, the CEO son, seemed to be as nervous as I. I thought to myself, “Arthur, who has interviewed many is still anxious then why should I be nervous if I’m just being asked a couple of questions that I should already know the answers too?” As a result of this, I took a deep breath and started feeling much better. I still felt the butterflies, but not as many as before. Not only was I able to overcome my anxiety, but Phil Hansen and James Collier also overcome their …show more content…
One should see anxiety as an opportunity to grow. One can accomplish so much when they face their fears. One can’t simply use their anxiety and fears as an excuse to back away from situations. Anxiety is just another name for challenge. One can take the challenge and overcome his fears. Anxiety is a monster that most people have to deal with on a daily basis. Even though anxiety is not actually a monster it still torments thousands of people every day, leaving them weak and scared. Anxiety defined means “distress or uneasiness of mind caused by fear of danger or misfortune” defined by Dictionary.com. In the epic poem of Beowulf, one could say that the townspeople had anxiety when it came to Grendel because they feared what he could do to them.
Anxiety is a feeling of tension associated with a sense of threat of danger when the source of the danger is not known. In comparison, fear is a feeling of tension that is associated with a known source of danger. I believe it is normal for us to have some mild anxiety present in our daily lives. Everyday that I can think of I have some kind of anxiety though out that day. Anxiety warns us and enables us to get ready for the ‘fight or flight’ response. However, heightened anxiety is emotionally painful. It disrupts a person's daily functioning.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
I see them as building stones for example, my freshmen year I played my first ever varsity game. If only you could imagine how nervous I was, but today you would see a complete different person. I play a lot faster, I don’t make very many mistakes any longer. All because of anxiety I second thought myself and made mistakes. It also impaired my vision, like I would be playing against a person my size, but in my mind I felt like I was playing against a NFL player. Anxiety is a mean thing and it will stop many, but the ones that overcome it will always succeed.
Do you know what it feels like to have your palms sweat, throat close up, and your fingers tremble? This is the everyday life of someone who lives with anxiety. As soon as I wake up in the morning, I hear my brain freaking out about the day ahead of me. What do I eat for breakfast? What do I do first when I get home from school? What happens if I get in a car crash on my way to school? A million thoughts at one time racing through my head. I never have the time to process all of them. Most mornings, I lay in my bed and have to take a few deep breaths to begin my hectic but not so hectic day. That’s just the beginning. It’s safe to say that I feel that I 'm an anxious person and that I have an anxiety disorder.
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
Have you ever wondered if there could possibly be overwhelming obstacles in the way of someone being truly successful in life? Some may witness friends or loved ones not developing to their fullest potential in their profession because of these unobtainable obstacles holding them back. In “Professions for Women,” by Virginia Woolf, Woolf gives a speech to a group of women explaining why they must overcome certain things in order to be successful in their future professional careers. In speaking to this group of determined young women, Woolf explains how horrendous it may be to have your own thoughts or beliefs while living in a society said to be dominated by males. She
...e mental illnesses that are more common than our society realizes. The community should be more educated as how to properly handle someone who is affected by it. Facing your fears is not an option if you are scared of the fear itself. Having support from someone could prevent a panic attack and help tremendously because it is always comforting to know you are not alone. The most effective way to help someone with an anxiety disorder is first understanding the differences between feeling nervous and owning anxiety disorders. It is an illness that is capable of dealing a lot of damage to a person’s mental health, and without proper help can be fatal. Anxiety disorders can easily evolve into depression and can make a person feel trapped or even suicidal. Knowing the proper procedures can greatly affect people with these disorders and could possibly save someone’s life.
Essay October Hardships are a common occurrence for many humans, but usually helps the person exceed the problems and turn out to be a better person. It almost the same as if someone just gives something to you rather than working for it and appreciating it more. Hardships may mold the person to whom they need to become. I am able to cope well with most emotions and circumstances that come my way, but there are times where the bottled up emotions I’ve suppressed for so long comes out on their own. The ability to control every emotion and have a counteractive precaution for it is rare. Most of the basic emotions, I can handle quite well, such as being happy or sad depending on what situation I am in. Emotions like anger and anxiety are a different case. Handling anger is not always a problem, but there are few instances in my life where the littlest of things made me angry. Anxiety, on the other hand, I have to control over when it comes to taking exams, such as Organic Chemistry. I try to calm myself by saying that everything is fine and the exam is not as fearful as it seems, but it does not work on most cases and throughout the exam, the constant feeling that it is possible for me to fail surrounds my thoughts.

I used to have a lot of trouble with Anxiety and Depression, these troubles caused me to feel handicapped through life and felt like many things I did were just too hard to deal with, even the most simple of things. In the past year I learned that you cannot let Anxiety and Depression control your life. These things can only control your life, if you allow them to control your life; and after being on anxiety and depression medication for years, I am finally coming off of the anxiety medication.
“To be a champion, I think you have to see the big picture. It's not about winning and losing; it's about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It's about embracing the pain that you'll experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. I think people think too hard and get afraid of a certain challenge”. says Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders.
Most people in life that I would consider a loser, don't view themselves the same as I do. In my opinion there are many things that cause someone to be a loser. Many main causes of a loser to me consist of a lack of good morals, a person who doesn’t set goals, and a person who makes excuses for everything. If you take a person who is lacking good morals they tend to disrespect the rule that arguably every human knows, and that is the difference between right and wrong. The cause of bad morals makes a particular person unenjoyable to be around, and these people often cause trouble around others.
