In today’s competitive world, entrepreneurs try to maximize their profits by increasing the efficiency of processes and skills used to transform resources into finished product. So in order to improve efficiency, entrepreneurs need to evaluate their current process and improve it to increase their profits. Therefore, through learning operations management not only help you to have a better understanding of the business world, but it also let you know what operations managers do in daily work. A manager’s role is to examine each of these elements and apply them to the people that he or she leads.

Related activities include managing purchases, inventory control, quality control, storages, logistics and evaluations. A great deal of focus is on efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Operational plans are derived from a tactical plan and are aimed at achieving one or more operational goals (Bateman, Snell 2003 p.113).
