What is equality?
Equality is allowing everyone to have equal opportunity including their own rights and status, regardless of who they are and where they have come from. It means to treat everyone equally but not the same. Every individual should be given equal opportunity within their needs. Every person should be allowed to make the most of their personal talents and their lives holistically. It means that regardless of circumstances, individuals should not be given poorer opportunities or life chances.

These include within the workplace, schools, hospitals and other services that many use. The way that society is today means society as a whole is more equal. Individuals are encouraged to make friends, spend time with and work with others that they may not have previously. These are seen as the minority groups. Attitudes towards these groups have changed and many individuals are against discriminating people
Why is it relevant?
It is vital that individuals follow the rules of providing equality as without it, discriminatory behaviour is going to happen. This can have a huge impact on people and can affect their day to day lives. Those carrying out discriminatory behaviour may be because they have previously experienced it themselves. It may be a lack of understanding from different lifestyles, beliefs and differences between people and themselves.

This means that it is against the law for people or companies to discriminate against those who are disabled. The equality act enables those with a disability who are looking to be employed to be protected against areas such as application forms, interview arrangements, job offers, terms of employment (including pay etc...) This is because even if an individual is disabled, this should not put their future activities at risk. This is great as it still gives disabled people the right to live a normal life as any other person would. However, some people may see this as a bad thing. They may believe that because someone who cannot do day to day activities is becoming employed, that it may be too difficult for them to carry out a job. However, there are possible solutions to this such as providing them with extra support to do the job such as assistant who is there all the time to give them that extra support that they may need in future. Some of those who have a disability, may not show physical affects from it, it may just be mentally which could mean that in the majority of jobs, there is always something that
Most people feel relatively uncomfortable when they meet someone with an obvious physical disability. Usually, the disability seems to stand out in ones mind so much that they often forget the person is still a person. In turn, their discomfort is likely to betray their actions, making the other person uncomfortable too. People with disabilities have goals, dreams, wants and desires similar to people without disabilities. Andre Dubus points out very clearly in his article, "Why the Able-bodied Still Don't Get It," how people's attitudes toward "cripples" effect them. It's is evident that although our society has come a long way with excepting those with physical disabilities, people do not understand that those with physical disabilities are as much human as the next person
Aristotle said, “ The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal.” True equality is hard to come by when there are so many things that make people so different. The word equality has a very general meaning. That meaning however, can be interpreted in many different ways. To some, the interpretation can lean more towards a sense of freedom. This freedom has been something society has been fighting for throughout the entirety of history. To others, such as author Kurt Vonnegut Jr., it could mean the complete opposite. In Harrison Bergeron, Vonnegut portrays equality as a sort of societal imprisonment.
Ensuring equality among the people promotes fairness and reduces conflict and jealousy. By treating everyone equally we maintain our respect and are able to work together better. The rule we create treats everyone the same and does not provide any special treatment to any specific person. As long as everyone does what is required of them they will obtain what is rightfully due to them.
Overall discrimination is an awful thing. It is like a STD, it can be passed from parent to child, or someone can become infected if you don’t watch out. Discrimination is also like the plague. It sweeps over a large amount of people, infecting most, and most don’t survive. Though today much of the discrimination is gone, just like the plague, but it is still there. Unfortunately for some people, they have to deal with people discrimination from others. Whether it be discrimination of one’s race, age, disability, or gender. Discrimination has numerous damaging effects to someone’s life. In Of Mice and Men the unlucky victims of discrimination also suffer from the same effects. They allow for people to have control of them and walk all over them. Discrimination is like a fire... It hurts.
Genuinity makes all the difference when it comes to issues such as this because it determines if the issue being taken seriously to learn from or if people look at it as a ‘trend’ and revert back to old habits as soon as it no longer benefits them. With that being said, despite the advancement towards diversity, there is still a continuance in the mistreatment of women and people of
.... As of now, people are being discriminated through employment and insurance companies but it can lead to something bigger and worse.
“Meanings justify the differential treatment that groups receive as some groups are deemed more worthy of, and eligible to receive, society’s valued resources than others. It now serves as a way to treat people unfairly” (Smith, Racilization). Discrimination perpetuates race and leads to racial inequality. Discrimination can be categorical or statistical. Categorical discrimination is unfair treatment from the discriminator of people from a particular social group because he believes this discrimination is mandatory for acceptance into his social group. Statistical discrimination is unfair treatment of an individual because of the preconceived notions that are prevalent surrounding the social group they take part
Discrimination is known to exist in all workplaces, sometimes it is too subtle to notice, and other times it is exceedingly obvious. It is known that everyone subconsciously discriminates, dependant on their own beliefs and environments that surround them. However, discrimination can be either positive or negative in their results, and sometimes discrimination is a necessary part of life.
It is quite certain to say that discrimination can be deadly and can deprive a person from living a normal and happy life. Especially those with disability. Therefore, it is important for discriminatory practices to be avoided and dealt properly ones reported.. If these effects are dealt properly ,long term effects can be eliminated.
What is equality? The first thought that arises in most our minds when we hear this word is the condition of being nondiscriminatory, particularly in cachet, entitlement and opportunities. Based on the Cambridge English Dictionary, equality refers the prerogative of multiple people groups to have a homogeneous social status and deserve identical treatment (Dictionary, 2017). Nonetheless, in the context of this research, equality is the unbiased treatment towards people regardless of their gender.
Introduction- Discrimination affects people all over the world. People of all ethnicities and from all different walks of life are influenced in some way by workplace discrimination. "Discrimination" means unequal treatment. One of the most common elements discriminated against is a persons ethnicity, or their race. This is called Racial Discrimination. While there are many federal laws concerning discrimination, most states have enacted laws that prohibit it. These laws may have different remedies than the federal laws and may, in certain circumstances be more favorable than the federal laws.
