Observing teachers really opened my eyes. Teaching is a lot more work than you think it is, and it’s not for everybody. Doing my observation work, I made my decision that I want to stick with teaching for a career!
One big thing that surprised me while watching the students is that they’re so open minded. I thought I was in High School as well, but observing made me realize I really wasn’t. They were so creative and thought in different perspectives and it got me thinking and asking myself if I put in that much effort in High School, and the answer to that is no. Something that unnerved me and also with the students, that the teacher was so welcoming and open. You walked in the classroom and you automatically felt comfortable and felt like you were needed in the classroom. All the students liked presenting in front of the class with their group projects, they were so excited to show the class their final product. It made me smile how happy they were about presenting, it made it more engaging. I’d like to know more about when the classroom is team taught. Do the students like it or dislike it? Is there anything they’d change about it? A connection I made was that everyone was engaged and wanted to know how other students’ perspectives. That is one of my favorite parts about EDU 107. I didn’t see any misbehavior. The principal actually came into the classroom and talked to me about my college life and that made me feel special. He also made comments on some of the students projects, that made them feel good about themselves. All the teachers were friends. During lunch time, they were talking about what lesson they were going to do next and tried making a lesson plan together. They all seemed like a team. That makes me excited going into teaching, knowing that even when I mess up another teacher has my back. Also knowing that you’re not in it all alone is more
