From growing up in a medical based family, there was a growing aspiration in me to follow the career pathway into the medical field as a Nurse. It was only recently when I had the opportunity to look after my grand-dad who was sick and unable to provide for himself, He gave me further inspiration and determination to follow the career in Nursing. He showed me how important, how essential a Nurse was in increasing the quality of life of individuals on a daily basis.

During my time of A Levels, the subject I took were Double Award Health and Social Care and Psychology. Health and social care has taught me the importance of the development of a child until adulthood which I have witnessed through my experience of being a babysitter. I believe that this is an important part of the Nursing course as Nursing has a huge impact in the development of an individual. I have witnessed this through my work experience in a mental rehabilitation unit where I was able to work with those who may have dementia, or schizophrenia. Through this experience I was able to observe the importance of a nurse’s role when it came to the support and the care that each individual needed. They taught me the importance of a multi-disciplinary team in working with patients and how it thoroughly boosts individual’s confidence and the trust relationship they have. Seeing the commitment, they give to each of the individuals is truly inspiring.
