That is why healthcare professionals has to commit to education. The purpose of the knowledge should bring us to the humble desire to serve our patients whatever the level of education we acquire. In the quest for knowledge caring is a central importance in our practice. The devotion to help others with compassion is what nursing is all about, When I was in school for my associates I never forgot what one of the teachers who had a PHD in nursing said to me when I asked her why she did not become a physician, she said nursing is a calling and that was mine, I knew then having a higher education did not make her a better nurse, she was a great nurse. She helped us cultivate a caring attitude in nursing education. Personally one specific goal for growth I would like to reach would be to help my community. I know I make a difference at work, but I would like to get more involved. It is challenging but at the same time interesting. By doing so I can connect to people and form a network .with this network I can have access to a wide range of people who would be a great foundation of assets. Continuing my education to obtain my masters would be essential to accomplish a profession gain in looking for new prospects. It would not be an easy ask but I have overcome many obstacles and break barriers to better my life and my family so with patience I can get where I am supposed to be. For leadership growth it is important for me to be part of the decision being made at my workplace and provide expertise to improve the care the patients received. My master 's degree will help me develop a sense of thoughtful leadership to advance not only educationally but also
Being reliable, respectful, and competent working as a medical professional understanding the job, and performing it at high standards. Medical professionals
My calling in life has always been clear to me, in my heart I have always known that I wanted to become a part of the medical field. Ever since I was a little girl I have admired the men and women who work in this field. Their drive and compassion to help those in need inspire me to become a future Registered Nurse. One of the many individuals within this field who has inspired me is Alfred Lopez a Registered Nurse at the California Institution for Women. He is 45 years old and has received his Bachelor 's degree in nursing from UCLA. As a nurse he provides exemplary care without judgement or bias towards those who are convicted as felons and criminals. He is a respectable and good natured man that lends an unbiased helping hand to all, despite what they have done in this life. This is why I strive to one day join the field of nursing because in this field every patient is treated equally among one another.
As I made my way through the nursing program, I witnessed my ideas and perceptions of the nursing practice and what nursing means to me change over time. By examining my Philosophy of Nursing assignment from first year, I can see that my current perspective on the nursing practice is similar to what it was yet has expanded as a result of being able to work alongside various Registered Nurses over the past four years. My philosophy of nursing has also slightly changed. Although my philosophy is still based on the nursing metaparadigm, that is nursing, health, the person, and the environment, I believe that my understanding of each one has evolved. Therefore, I believe it is crucial for me to further explore my current perspective on the nursing
...rses work in an environment is forever changing. The one thing that I will not change is my dedication to excellence through ethics, standards, and best practices. My commitment to the health care profession is to provide excellent care for my patients. I will work to help manage patients with their illnesses, prevent disease, and promote a health lifestyle. We are health care educators and advocates for patients, families and communities. There is a mix of flexibility, opportunity and job security offered by nursing not currently found in any other profession, which allows me to rotate among different employment settings. I choose this profession to help the ones in need and improve the quality of life for others. There are so many areas of nursing out there, but all these areas overlap and the more I learn and absorb, the better nurse leader I will become.
A career in the medical field is always evolving, and always needing more hands. I knew from a young age that helping people is what I was meant to do, and from then on out every step I took was the way to a successful career in nursing. It is a profession that allows you to see people at their worst, all while helping them become their best. The most important task for nursing students is to create a clear pathway for our education, and to be sure to follow that plan accordingly. When choosing this career, I had to access my own strengths and weaknesses and really establish clear goals for myself and evaluate if I had what it takes to be a part of this diverse and skilled profession. I also decided not only not only do I need to set professional goals for this career, personal goals are important as well.
Personal strengths I will contribute to nursing include strong communication, adaptability, and attentiveness to detail. Strong communication is vital between nurses, patients, and their other health care providers. Nurses disclose the information they learn about patients to other nurses and leading physicians, in order to diagnose and treat medical issues. If strong communication is not upheld this has negative side effects on someones healing. When I was in the hospital, I noticed a lack of communication between the nurses and my surgeon. The surgeon was not informed of the severity of my pain after surgery and this lead to a severe complication. I intend to utilize my skills of communication, so complications can be avoided. As a nurse being adaptable to any situation which may arise is crucial. Working in a hospital is unpredictable and nurses have a responsibility as health care leaders to know a course of action in any situation. I am adaptable because when faced with new and unexpected changes I am able to quickly react and think of solutions to any possible issues. Finally, I am also attentive to detail which is important when a nurse has to observe patients for abnormal health changes. Even a slight change can point to a larger health
A Registered Nurse promotes health, prevent diseases and help patients cope with illness. When providing direct patient care, nurses observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions and progress, which provide the basis for care planning and intervention. I want to be a nurse because I have always had an interest in the medical field, and I have always wanted to have a career in which I can change lives. By being a nurse I will have the opportunity to help others. I will also gain medical knowledge not only to get or keep others healthy, but myself as well. I will continue to learn interesting things about the human body. I will be able to interact with interesting people in other healthcare professions, and gain knowledge from them as well.
I try to live my life by this. You're not going to lose weight if you don't try, you're not going to get the A if you don't try. In the real world not everyone cares about you or your future. So it's your job to plan ahead, take initiative, and be responsible for your actions.
The Carson Newman Summer Nursing Camp perfectly aligns with my strong suits and interests making it the ideal opportunity for me to pursue my passion in nursing. At an early age, I fell in love with serving those in need. As my life progressed, I came to discover that I wished to help others through a career of nursing. Needless to say, I find this summer camp incredibly valuable to my future and will fully and joyfully commit to all that it has to offer.
Professional Goals I would like to pursue a career in healthcare administration, which is my ultimate goal. From there, I would like to work in a hospital setting where I can be of assistance to a larger population. Another goal I would like to achieve is earning a master’s degree in healthcare administration. While a bachelor's degree is needed for entry-level positions, a master’s degree can help me advance in my career and provide opportunities to work in certain areas that require this particular degree. Additionally, I would like to improve my communication skills, as it is an essential aspect of healthcare administration.
As a Registered Nurse, I am constantly learning new things every single day. Learning about the body, how the body reacts to certain medications, how mental health ties in so directly to physical health and also how important the basic human needs truly are. I am honored and blessed to be able to call myself a nurse and to be a part of my patients’ healing while they are under my care. I have become a stronger person since I became a nurse, and for that I am truly thankful. It is at this time in my life that I find myself seeking more. Seeking more answers, more knowledge, more autonomy, and most importantly more life and nursing skills. As an RN, I can only do so much for my patients each day, within my scope of practice, and depending on
Adult Nursing is a very rewarding career which provides endless opportunities. I would describe myself as a caring and compassionate person. I believe I possess these qualities naturally. I am compelled to put other people’s needs before my own. I can contribute my personal qualities to this course of being dedicated and determined into committing myself to this 3 year course and excelling academically. Personally, caring for my mother with high blood pressure made me interested in the world of medicine. This long term sickness inspired me to gain more experience outside of the home and volunteer which confirmed that this was the right course for me. I am fascinated by the practical aspect that the course involves as well as the theoretical
Before I started pursuing a career in nursing, I was always involved with the neonatal and pediatric age group. In high school I volunteered at my church caring for and teaching the children between the ages of 2-14. I also was a caretaker for 3 families all of whom had newborn children. From these experiences I grew very comfortable around the neonatal and pediatric age groups, even learning how to communicate with them in an effective manner. I did not care for neonatal patients in a hospital setting until I was in my 2nd year of college. I began working as a newborn hearing screener on a labor and delivery floor caring for premature and full-term neonatal patients. This position gave me greater insight into the nursing profession and once
As a student nurse, I was immediately drawn to psychiatric nursing and the many unique challenges and fulfilling opportunities it presented. I also knew from the beginning that I wanted to continue my education and become an advanced practice nurse, and I have never lost sight of that goal. As a nurse currently working in a psychiatric facility, I plan to use the experience I gain to help me better understand the topics I will study throughout my education. I will use my fellow students, colleagues, and providers as resources to gain a deeper knowledge of each topic of study as I incorporate my learning into both my work, and my studies. I will develop a plan of study that will compliment my work schedule and family life, and I will choose preceptors with qualities that I respect, and who mirror the type of provider that I want to be in my own practice.
Nursing, for me, is more than a profession, it is a journey where I learn continuously about life changing events and miracles. Touching the lives of others or being touched by other’s story is an experience one can’t describe, only endure. Nursing is a profession of integrity and compassion, and it is the most trusted professions due to our commitment towards our patient. The quality of a good nurse is they should be caring, sensitive, kind and respectful towards their patient, and I believe I possess all these qualities that have contributed to me in my successful career of nursing. Working at Cleveland Clinic, I got a great opportunity to work with a group of doctors and coworkers who have the same mission in life and job as mine; “Put the patient first”. Making a positive impact on patient’s life, big or small, noticed or unnoticed, gives me a great sense of accomplishment and makes me proud to be a nurse.
