Christopher Fisher, a Licensed Administrator of Nursing Home with a degree of MS and NHA and currently working as an Administrator Fox Subacute at Mechanicsburg was the guest speaker of the class. His presentation was very engaging and highlighted the differences of the Nursing Home Operations and its regulatory process and business hierarchy. First, he talked about his background relevant to his job status. In addition, he stated that he started working as Licensed Administrator since May 2008, but prior to that, he started in skilled nursing as admissions/social services on May 2005. Furthermore, I learned that business development in Nursing home operations is genuinely important because it plays a significant role in providing the quality care to the patients in healthcare organizations and focuses on responsibilities to make better health care system. I am really influenced by their presentations because the information that I learned from them was very productive and important which assist to endeavor me in managing myself in future, as a health administrator or pharmacist to achieve the pure excellence of an organization because I have an experience of volunteering at pharmacy to distribute medicines for patients, from where I gained more knowledge about dealing with patients and knew how the health system works. So, lastly, in order to run business development successfully and efficiently, the effective strategies and plans needs to be implemented
The purpose of this report is to summarize the findings of an interview with Rusty Metcalfe, Chief Information Officer of Fundamental Administrative Services, LLC, and analyze the competitive and strategic positioning of the firm within the long-term, post-acute senior care industry. I interviewed Mr. Metcalfe on Wednesday November 15, 2016 and covered a broad array of topics including the department’s history and structure, risks and opportunities, strategic alignment and near and long-term goals.
Within the U.S. Healthcare system there are different levels of healthcare; Long-Term Care also known as (LTC), Integrative Care, and Mental Health. While these services are contained within in the U.S. Healthcare system, they function on dissimilar levels.
When it comes to operating nursing home facilities, there are many stakeholders involved depending on whether the institution is for-profit, non-profit or government owned. Majority of nursing homes are for-profit organization and they account for almost 70 percent of nursing homes, while non-profit nursing homes account for less than 30 percent and less 6 percent are government owned (Nursing home data Compendium, 2015). Nearly 95.5 percent of nursing homes across the state are dually certified, meaning they have both Medicare and Medicaid certifications (Center for Medicare and Medicaid, 2015). Nursing home funding comes from four different sectors. Nearly fifty percent of their revenue come from Medicaid, followed by Medicare which counts for twenty percent, and the rest of payments come from a mixture of private-long-term care insurance and out of pocket (Yoder, 2012).

The demand for talented, educated and experienced nursing home administrators is increasing, and filling this demand is becoming more challenging. In this paper, the qualifications, responsibilities, and duties of a nursing home administrator, professional staff, nonlicensed staff, and consultants will be identified. We will explore trends that are likely to affect assisted living in the future. We also will explore new changes in regulation related to the F490, the Facility assessment and how it will impact the role of the administrator.
In this event, the matter that is unusual can be the fact that I have experienced and witnessed the process for interprofessional collaboration between the community nurse and other professionals that I have never knew about before. This event made me realize that there are many aspects of community nursing that I have knew about before where in this situation it is the importance and accountability of interprofessional collaboration. One literature talked about how according to the Institute of Medicine, it is critical to have the capacity to work together as part of the interdisciplinary team to assist in delivering high quality, patient-centered care. The two Nursing Homes that I will be comparing are: Studio City Rehabilitation Center and Valley Palms Care Center within the San Fernando Valley. The Studio City Rehabilitation Center is rated as a low functioning site at 2 out of 5 stars, while the Valley Palms Care Center is rated as a high functioning site at 4 out of 5 stars. Both sites have differences and similarities regarding their overall environment, staff members, quality of measuring/ensuring care, and overall rating on the Nursing Home Compare Medicare website. These varying factors have resulted in the quality of health care for both sites to be different from one another, as evidenced by their rating differences and my observations.

With the aging population growing faster every year many families must make a difficult decision whether their loved ones should live in assisted living or nursing home facilities. I can relate because I made the decision to care for my mother at my home. Some people do not have the money or resources to care for their parent so they must live in a facility for health and safety reasons.
Compassion, determination and commitment are qualities I possess that I believe will make me succeed in an Adult Nursing Degree. I am elated to choose this course because it is interesting, challenging, rewarding and satisfying. I have a great passion in assisting the older person especially at their vulnerable state. The Choice for a nursing home is solely based on the constraints that are associated with nursing homes. In a nursing more, control can be implemented versus a hospital because of it a smaller facility. In addition, the Baldrige framework is nonprescriptive in nursing homes and is used to measure, unify, educate, utilizes all components, incorporate, use it mission and enlighten the organization on its principles. The Baldrige criteria that are vital for nursing homes are the Performance approach. Nevertheless, the Performance criteria define and engage efficient leaders.
