I have chosen to start majoring in Nursing. My plan is to become a Registered Nurse, and specialize in Cardio Vascular. I want to I decided on this career because when I was in high school I took Med Pro classes which get you familiar with different kinds of medicine and different kinds of nurses. In this class we also had many guest speakers that came and talked to us about their jobs. I have always wanted to go into the nursing field since I was younger but this class inspired me to help others and get them healthy. Another thing that has inspired me to go into the nursing field is my friend Jessica’s mom. One big problem is violence in the workplace. Nurses are a huge target; they can quickly become the patient when the patient becomes violent. There are a few different kinds of violence a nurse can be effected by. There is verbal abuse and physical. These can be things such as cursing, kicking, yelling, or grabbing from the patients and visitors. In 2012 through 2014 nurses and nurse assistants faced higher rates of workplace violence injuries than other health care sectors workers. The rates of workplace violence injuries rose steadily over a two-year period. Another issue in the nursing field today would be short staffing/ long hours. Nurses work long shift, such as twelve hours or longer. These demanding schedules can lead to difficulties with sleep because of the need to sleep at irregular times.
