Part I: List of several opportunities that exist for incorporating each of the four areas into my Chemistry class.
1. Reading- is a standard that places equal emphasis on the sophistication of what students read and the skill with which they read (Mississippi, 2016, pp.17-18).
• Give students time to find books to read in the library and give them fifteen minutes to read at the same time each day. We call this” bulldog time”.
• Have students read detailed lab reports that are challenging and have them present what they found in each report to the class.
• Have students take the STAR test to get baseline data to see what grade level each student is reading on and work from there.
2. Writing – Text types, responding

• Lab reports are the biggest part of our writing component in Chemistry and Physics. These are complete for each lab and activity.
• All projects have a writing component. These projects are given each nine week on a topic being covered in the nine weeks.
3. Speaking and Listening- includes formal presentations such as team presentations or individual presentations. It also requires students to develop a range of broadly useful oral communication and interpersonal skills(Mississippi, 2016, pp.17-18).
• Student will make presentation to the class using correct grammar in each presentation.
• Students will read aloud from the text and the lab sheets.
4. Language – is the use of essential rules of standard written and spoken English
• Students will write in proper English using all grammar rules for lab reports, presentations, and written assignments (Mississippi, 2016, pp.17-18).
• Students will use a dictionary to help with pronunciation and spelling as needed.
• Students will use vocabulary builders to help them become familiar with new vocabulary related to the topics being covered in the Chemistry
I was rather rushed this week when reading the weekly material and could probably benefit by re-reading it prior to the exam. Although the concepts of lists, tuples, strings, and libraries aren't new to me, the implementation will need some study before becoming efficient in their use.
It was November 12 when spacecraft Rosetta caught up with the comet called Churyumov-Gerasimenko better know as 67P (Lauren, 2014). The journey took 6.4 billion miles to complete (Lauren, 2014). Also Rosetta sent a lander called Philae to explore the comet and take picture among other things (Lauren, 2014). Interestingly enough when the media reported the comet landing I thing is trumped Kim kardashian attempt at breaking the internet with her nude photos which the media was cover at about the same time as the comet landing. With all that being said you might be asking why should I care? You should care about this comet because comets came from and can tell us about our solar system, also there has not been any unique and important mission as this one, further more it might be the last space mission we get to experience for a while. Now I am going to get in to what comets are and how they got here and talk a little bit
In the beginning of the course, we discussed “NGD”. The two areas of “NGD” that we focused on were number and geometry. Number is discrete, finite, time, or sound. Geometry is continuous, infinite, space, or vision. Bronowski mentioned how “it’s said that science will dehumanize people and turn them into numbers” (374). This tragically became true during the Holocaust where people were no longer considered human beings, but rather numbers. We discussed various mathematical topics concerning numbers like the well-ordering pair. In the well-ordering pair, ever subset has a least member. There are also figurative numbers, squared numbers, and even Pythagorean triples.
It's important to gather information that is understandable by your students. The procces of gathering evendce in childrens learning can make a huge difference. there are many different kinds of assesments that help you as a teacher better educate your students. your lessons plans and what you teacer is very important to what they understand and how they learn.
The moral philosophy best describes my personal decision making is virtue ethics (Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, 2013). It best description of me as virtual ethics having exceptional moral character (Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, 2013). My character displays honesty, integrity, and helpfulness (Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, 2013). For example, a friend attempted to commit suicide as a result of a wife asking for a divorce through email (Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, 2013). At the beginning of the semester our class was introduced to a new term, listenability. The level of listenability is at the mercy of the speaker, not of the audience. During our semester, we were taught to harness the listenability keys of strategy, structure, support, and style in order to achieve a high level of listenability. Examples of listenability include when a speaker engages the audience by asking questions, using narratives or stories that people can relate to, and has stimulating visual support and content. These are only a couple of keys used to create a listener centered speech.
Finally, I might tie in a social studies and science lesson by having my students trace how a cocoa bean becomes a bar of chocolate. They can research where cocoa is grown (geography,) how it is grown (science,) learn about fair trade vs. non fair trade, imports and exports, supply and demand (economics) as well as the process that happens when the cocoa beans finally make it to the factory
At the beginning of each unit a vocabulary list is given out, and as the vocabulary is gone over within the lessons emphasis will be placed as to where the students may find the terms on the vocabulary list.
Vocabulary development should give the students the ability to learn the meaning of new words and concepts that are presented to them in their text. Learning this skill will help students with comprehension and their content area curriculum. By teaching students vocabulary development, students will have a reserve of new words, connect new words with their previous knowledge, gain the ability to understand and comprehend the text, and lastly, it will increase a students’ word knowledge to connect with their comprehension and success.
Over the years, I have developed an innovative approach to teaching and conducting research with undergraduates through creating and presenting course materials in both laboratory and classroom settings. In my experience, the best teaching involves concrete, hands-on examples, so I engage students in my courses by encouraging the maximum laboratory participation possible.

Oral and Written Communication skills are two of the most important skills a person could have in the workplace. Without the ability to effectively communicate or understand communication in written or auditory form taking and giving direction would be extremely difficult. Oral communication is simply the act of talking and listening. If a person can effectively convey his thoughts in spoken word and interpret others spoken words into their intended thought then they can effectively communicate orally. The same concept can be applied to the written word. The U.S. Deptartment of Labor breaks oral communication into two areas:
The irony is that speaking to others is one of the most important, if not the most important, professional and personal skill students must have to be successful (Doyle 88). The student needs to understand the importance of this skill and realize that in the future many opportunities and career successes are directly impacted by working with others. Students are also encouraged to take charge of their learning. Giving the student control and as many choices is a good way to optimized their learning.
Every business consists of a variety of communication activities such as listening, speaking, questioning, gathering and participating in small work groups. The listening skill is one of the most important aspects of communication process. It helps to understand and read the other person’s message. Effective listening skills create positive workplace relationships which influence our opinions and responsiveness to one another.
