It is then followed by another holiday, called Yom Kippur, ten days later. These two traditions are called the High Holidays. A quinceañera is an event that is celebrated worldwide. The term “quinceañera” means fifteenth years in English. It’s an extravagant birthday bash for a young lady turning the age of fifteen.”Celebrating my quince años meant beginning a life of a new adult. It has also given me much more responsibility for my own actions” (Xochitl Comparan, Victoria, Texas). This event is celebrated differently by many diverse cultures, and as time goes by some of the traditions change. Even though the traditions may alter, the whole point for this eventful activity stays the same. The point for this event is to recognize the young lady’s transition from childhood to womanhood. This is also known as “the coming of age.” On this one day, it’s all about the girl, nothing else matters! Organizing one of these events is a very expensive and lengthy process. It takes a lot of time and dedication. There’s a lot to be incorporated in the huge event; such as planning the ceremony, every decoration detail for the reception, all the traditions that must happen during the day, and most importantly to figure out who will be a part of this ritual.
Rosh Hashanah celebrates the creation of the world and is a time for reflection and self. evaluation. The adage is a sham. It is celebrated on the first day of the seventh. month (the month of Tishri).

This waltz signifies Marie-Adele's passing into the spirit world led by Nanabush who most of the sisters believe is gone forever. Nanabush helps Marie-Adele pass into the spirit world peacefully and gracefully showing how he uses his powers to support the sisters through everything in their lives. The sisters use Marie-Adele's death as a time to learn that they “gotta make the most of it while “they’re” here[,] - giv[e] it one good try” (1161) and remember how special their sisterly bond is. The sisters lean on each other for support during their time of grief. Emily takes Zhaboonigan under her wing by enlisting her to help with the store, Emily supports Annie by going to her shows where she “sing[s] back-up for Fritz” (1162), and Veronique is “cooking for Eugene and the children” (1163). Emily and Zhaboonigan formed a special bond during and after their trip. Zhaboonigan begins to feel a strong affection for Emily and Emily confides in Zhaboonigan. Each sister uses their own talents to help support one another after the death of Marie-Adele showing how they bonded throughout their road trip to Toronto. While the mood continues to be pleasant, the village gathers for what would appear to be a joyous festival everyone looks forward to. “The lottery was conducted –as were the square dances, the teen-age club, the Halloween program… (p.445).”
Participation in the lottery causes the villagers to lose the ability to be empathetic and their bonds of family and friendship suffer for it. The lottery encourages them to abandon ties of love and loyalty and tap into the deepest recesses of the darkness that hides in humanity. The lottery does not offer them prosperity, but strips them of all that is good in humanity. The villagers are masked behind the evil that awaits them each year on a sunny day in June. The other 364 da...

I am here today to talk to you about the Persian Empire. One of the reasons I chose this topic is that I am Persian myself. Another reason for me choosing this topic is that there is a large Persian community in Lower Mainland.
It is a ritual in which a whole community of people both interacts and part place in. Communalism is a big part of tribal rituals, as states by Durkheim, “The means by which human beings are brought together as a collective group…Ritual functions to strengthen the bonds attaching the individual to the society of which he (sic) is a member.” The Mexican Christmas ritual does just that by incorporating the involvement of a large number of people. Within the tradition there is also a clear “betwixt and between” or liminal space that we see on nearly every day of the tradition. Before the party begins, people must first engage in the walking and the singing; they are not allow entering the house just yet and are put in a middle space.
The fun of having family reunions, meeting up with people you care about, and having a great time. Celebration when each family member would show up, or come home from a long trip. Going to church, having another thing to bond about, and when people return from trips being able to “Listen to gospel music outside at the church homecoming”(Nikki Giovanni). The great memories seem to never last, they just fade away till there's nothing left. Food, it's what everybody needs to survive, and it's what help bonds people together, whether it's just gardening, eating, or both it seems to makes everybody happy. “I always like summer best you can eat fresh corn from daddy’s garden”(Nikki Giovanni). Enjoying every summer, being able to go hiking, swimming, or boating, just having fun with the family and enjoying the memories while they last.
Diwali, the festival of lights, is one of the important and widely spread holidays celebrated in India. It is a celebration of lights, and for many, it is truly a sensory experience; some families decorate their houses with all sorts of lights and open up to the neighbors, sharing their love and their food.
...eat decorative touch to the festivities. Don’t forget to pick up helium balloons. Keep your party agenda available for your connivance, but do not panic if things get thrown off track. Keep in mind, that this is a children’s party and children have short attention spans. The main purpose is for everyone to enjoy themselves. Make sure people are having fun; your party will surely be a success!
