...nity. The Holy Spirit allows human beings to become closer to God, and the relationship between the Father and the Son. After writing about both the Trinity and Salvation, I have learned that they are immensely interconnected. The Trinity allows human beings to find Salvation. All in all, the Trinity is not three separate parts, but one part with three different essences.
The Holy Spirit unites all our Heavenly Friends and all the believers. As Catholics, we also believe and have faith that our Heavenly Friends will guide us in hard times and help us be faithful followers.
The Roman Catholic Church is the largest body of Christians in the world. Catholics are concentrated more heavily in North America, Europe and South America than any other place. The traces of the beginning of the Catholic Church began about A.D. 30; this is the time when Jesus Christ was mandating his apostles to spread the teachings about the Kingdom of God. (Gills Web). Catholics have the belief that Christ inaugurated the church to carry to his people the salvation that he had brought to the world. They also believe that with the aid of God they have managed to preserve his teachings. Belief in God’s revelation is religious faith. Some beliefs that the Roman Catholic’s acquire are the Trinity and creation, Sin, the Incarnation, and salvation, Life after death, Worship and Baptism, Confirmation, and Mass. (Gills Web). Trinity and creation is where Catholics presume there is only one God. This one God exists of a unit of three persons – The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three persons form the Holy Trinity. (Gills Web) Although this is true there is still only one God.
The first major part of the creed is the recognition that God the Almighty created the heavens and the earth, anything that is, is made by God the Father. The second major part of the Creed is that Jesus Christ is the one and only begotten Son of God. The key word being that Jesus is begotten by God, not created like the universe or humankind. Jesus being begotten by God, is one with God and is God. Like God the Father, through Jesus all things were made. Being begotten by the Father and one with Him, Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross is what forgives us of our
Christianity is a diverse religion with a multitude of beliefs that comprise the core of the religion. There are an abundant number of sects within Christianity however there are a few core principles which are generally true for all of them, for example the belief of the Holy Trinity or better known as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is what would be considered a primary belief. A primary belief is an idea that is a generally universal idea that is accepted by all the different sects of Christianity and must influence the secondary beliefs in the religion. For example the Holy Trinity is accepted by Roman Catholics, Protestants, Baptist, and etc. However what separates the different sects in the religion apart from one another are their secondary beliefs. A secondary belief is a belief that is accepted by many of the sects however the belief maybe slightly altered. Also another characteristic that must be true is that in order for it to be considered a secondary belief it must have a correlation to the primary belief. An example of this is the sacraments because the sacraments are believed in throughout Christianity but the number of sacraments in each denomination varies. The sacraments do play a specific role in the religion when dealing with the Trinity particularly concerning with the Eucharist. Because of these two credenda’s it is evident to see what an instrumental role these beliefs have in defining Christianity.
The doctrine of the Holy Spirit begins with examining biblical witness to the work of the Holy Spirit in the history of Israel, as well as the ministry of Jesus, and in the life of the church. During the creation account it was the breath of God that grave life to all creation. The Holy Spirit has been a primate actor sin the beginning of time. While the Spirit was present prior to the ministry of Christ, the New Testament speaks in greater detail of the Spirit because it empowered Jesus. From his conception to the day of Pentecost the Sprit was present and active in the life of Christ and the believers. We see in ...
The main tenets of Roman Catholicism come from the New Testament: and say that God entered the world through incarnation of his son, Christ, or Jesus of Nazareth. Roman Catholics also attach a high importance to baptism, Eucharistic traditions, marriage, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, to not cite all of them.
The Trinity is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This concept is what many Catholics believe in, but other worldwide religions believe in other beliefs. Out of all the three Divine Persons, “Jesus is the most qualified to bring the renewal of creation because it was through him that creation came into being” (Pohle February 7th). We as humans will have to face the consequences for actions that we have done in the past, present and future. Jesus has come into the world as a human to show his dignity and save us from sin; he was the world and of all creation. As we come to read more about Jesus we get to know Jesus more, we learn about what he did, how he did it and why he had to do these saving actions.
The doctrine of the Trinity, as seen in the Christian bible, is primary to the Christian faith. The word “Trinity” does not actually appear in the bible; it is a theological label meant to summarize certain teachings of certain passages of scripture, and is crucial to properly understand what God is like, how He relates to us, and how we relate to Him. It may also raise many difficult questions including what does it mean that God is a Trinity? While it is difficult for us to fully understand everything about the trinity, it is quite possible to answer questions like this one and come to a solid grasp of what it means for God to be three in one.
Jesus Christ’s life and mission, which is now present worldwide, is the origin of the Roman Catholicism. Catholics believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became man, died and rose from the dead to redeem humanity from sin (Catholic Truth Society, 3). He passed his mission of salvation to the Catholic Church through his apostles and then their successors (Catholic Truth Society, 4).
The term “creed” is derived from the Latin “credo” which means "I believe." In this context, a creed is a systematic summarization of religious theories and beliefs. It would be difficult if not impossible to study the general history of Christianity and specifically Christian Theology without studying these ecumenical creeds: The Apostle’s Creed, The Nicene Creed, The Chalcedonian Creed and The Athenasian Creed. These creeds serve to demarcate the doctrinal substance and boundaries of orthodox Christian theology. These four creeds represent the culmination of several hundred years of early Christian debate centered on what eventually became known as the doctrine of the trinity.
Scripture speaks of the Father as God (Philippians 1:2), Jesus Christ as God (Titus 2:13), and the Holy Spirit as God (Acts 5:3–4). Yet God is the Father, Jesus Christ is the Son and the Holy Spirit is Spirit, each has Their own function, but function as a unit. While the three Persons of the Trinity are different, this does not mean that any is lesser in value to the other. Instead, they are all identical in all their features.
This means that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit collectively make one Person who is God. Our church father, St. Augustine explains, “Let us believe that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit is one God the Creator and Ruler of the whole creature, and the Father is not the Son, nor the Holy Spirit either the Father or the Son, but a trinity of persons mutually interrelated and a unity of an equal essence, and let us seek to understand this, praying for help form Himself, whom we wish to understand; and as much as He grants”.2 This shows that the Holy Trinity is of equal persons with not one with more priority or power over the other person. He also says,“The persons of the Trinity are a single God Precisely because they share a common nature or substance, or in other words, they have every attribute of characteristic in common. But this is not the only kind of unity the persons of the Trinity share; they also share in a unity of love, of fellowship, and that kind of unity in possible precisely because they are distinct as persons. Identical in substance and
In John 10:30 Jesus says; “I and the Father are One.” By this, He meant that He and God were the same. For example, God and the Son of God both created everything (1 Corinthians 8:6) (Morgan, 211–212). The Holy Spirit is also God too, as one can read in 1 John 5:7–8: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” This Holy Divinity is called the Trinity- a group of three, as One. “In the name of the Trinity the living God is revealed” (Robinson, 187) This Trinity is God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit. “The Triune God is an all-sufficient God, all-sufficient for Himself and all-sufficient for His people” (Robinson,
He helps us with our witness. “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8 ESV). Part of our call as Christians (as found in the Great Commission) is to go to the ends of the earth to make disciples of the nations. The Holy Spirit is what gives us the power to do so. Since Jesus is no longer physical present on this planet, we need someone else for our witness. The Holy Spirit, being God just as much as Jesus was God, is the one that helps us witness on this earth. Without him, we could not spread the gospel. Without the Holy Spirit being sent when Jesus left, the gospel would not spread. Christianity would have just lasted the lifetime of those who knew him personally. The Holy Spirit helps us speak the right words in these situations. “Whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit” (Mark 13:11). Jesus speaks this to His disciples when talking about the end times. He tells them not to fear and to speak up. For what they speak are not their words, but the words of God spoken by the Holy
