Changing Negatives to Positives Everyone thinks negatively, it is human nature, but if one thinks negative all the time, maybe they should consider changing their perspective to help guide them into a positive life-style. Negative thinking patterns can lead to many different thoughts, “what if” thoughts, continuously ruminating the scene in their head, making it worse and more difficult to move on, assumptions start to build, the individual begins to think, “this should have happened like this” or “it must be like this”, overreacting, etc. Someone with a negative mindset might say it is impossible to change the way they view things, or “this is how I am”, but overcoming the stubbornness is the first step. “Developing an optimistic outlook …show more content…
“Changing your perspective is a very valuable tool for understanding a situation better and avoiding false view” (Shifting Your Perspective). To change the perspective of ones mind, helps them break down a bad situation, and analyzes the possible ways to act out, help gain a feeling of how another person might feel, and ways to become a better problem solver. “Negative emotions give birth to negative reactions” (Solarin). As this quote represents, one acts how one feels, and if the individual has a different mindset, their mind would be matured, and they will have the ability to think deeply about the way they should act. There are a few steps to help the process of thinking positive, (1) spend time with positive people, (2) take responsibility for ones behavior, (3) contribute to the community, (4) read positive and inspirational material, (5) recognize and replace negative thoughts, (6) create a daily gratitude list (Morin). Something that is common amongst athletes is that they try to think in an “all-or-nothing” (Melemis) feel the need to be perfect all the time, and if it does not go perfect, they then think they failed. “The emotion you feel at any. Given time determines your perspective at that time. So, in order to see the positive side of any negative situation, you need to first change your emotion from the negative to the positive” (Solarin). In this case, …show more content…
Changing the negatives into positives can be made by changing their perspective, practice self-care, and to consider the consequences of negativity. There are many possible ways to help make this change, but to keep in mind, doing the little things is what counts the most. Doing something as simple as reading a positive quote every morning before leaving for school or work can turn the day around drastically. With changing the outlook of things, come lessons that can be learned early on in life rather than figuring the lesson out itself. Also, once one sees life the way the finally want to see it, with a positive mindset, they can become the person they have wanted to
Award-winning author Mandy Hale once stated, “Without negativity, life would be amazing.” However, this statement does not always prove to be true. Today’s modern community generates a judgement that negative experiences will ruin your life, but studies show that negativity can actually result in positive change. For example, negativity can positively change teenagers actions, introduce teenager’s to more supportive environments, and help fix broken relationships.
Positive thoughts are incredibly valuable in life. Professor Barbara Fredrickson is a social psychologist from the University of North Carolina. She suggests that positivity is what helps you experience emotions like joy, appreciation, motivation, and inspiration. When you are experiencing positive emotions like these, you will see more possibilities and worth in your life. There is real power in optimism. Optimists are problem solvers, they try to find the good in all situations. They try to improve
..., we can automatically experience negative thoughts. In situations like that, we can surly agree that our immune system is much weaker compared to the situations when we are happy and cheerful. In the end a person who is always in a bad mood, thinking just about the negative things in life totally neglecting the positive aspects of it, is surely never considered to be the best version of itself. Just remember “However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you If you do not act on upon them?” (Gautama Buddha). Do not just dream about your ideas and hope that they will come true, thinking that The Law of Attraction will do everything for you. Sure, that is the first step forward, but action is what counts. Believe, pray, give your best in order to succed, and lest but not least, never let negative thoughts to overcome your mind.
To conclude, the episode expressed both positive and negative perceptions on the issues which together increased the public awareness on the issue of low income and high property prices by showing the daily life difficulties encountered by Tien as a street cleaner. Yet, there were no suggestions on how the public could help. As a result, the problems remain unsolved.
Breaking out of negative thinking is a cathartic experience. Suddenly instead of feeling "stuck", caged or trapped by the old negative beliefs, you are released. At last able to spread the wings of life without fear and follow your dreams and your destiny unencumbered by the old baggage of negativity.
negative emotions can only bring negative effects. As reported by Richard Schoch, people are trying to suppress negative emotions by buying items they believe will make them happy such as selfhelp books or antidepressants (452). These people have the wrong idea of how to cope with their “negative” emotions. On the contrary, suppressing negative emotions does the opposite effect of what those people want to happen. Kristalyn Salters notes that “when a person tries to suppress their negative emotions instead of trying to cope with them, it causes a rebound effect that amplifies the amount of negative emotions being suppressed.” In
Positive Psychology is about building what is right in an athlete and also in “work, education, insight, love, growth, and play” (Seligman, 2002, p. 3). It is a science, “looks at what is right” in athletes, and focuses on when they are “their best” (Biswas-Diener, 2010, p. 5). Seligman (2002) believes that the disease model has not moved us closer to preventing mental illness and that human strengths, such as courage, future-mindedness, optimism, interpersonal skill, faith, work ethic, hope, honesty, perseverance, the capacity for flow and and insight, can act as buffers against mental illness. Research has demonstrated that learning optimism prevents depression and anxiety in children and adults (Seligman, 2002). “A teenager who is future-minded, who is interpersonally skilled, who derived flow from sports, is not at risk of substance abuse” (Seligman, 2002, p. 4). Positive psychology interventions promote superior functioning while traditional psychology attempts to restore a person to normal functioning (Biswas-Diener, 2010).
Do you see things in the positive or in the negative? Are you a person who thinks negative all the time, or do you find a positive thing out of everything? If you were to ask me that question, I would tell you that I’m a person who tries to see the positive in every situation, but sometimes things just get to me. So, I could be negative sometimes. I’m the person who can see the glass half full. I also can see the glass half empty. I try not to think negative, because then it will ruin my whole mood. However, not everyone is the happy-go-lucky person. Sometimes, people just have bad days.
In order to find success, both professionally and personally, people often have to navigate through uncomfortable situations. One of the most uncomfortable situations we may have to go through in life is dealing with negative people. While they may be difficult and awkward to handle, negative people are common in all walks of life and all lines of business. Here are 5 tips that can help turn a negative relationship into a positive one:
However, sports performance requires as much physical as psychological effort. Therefore, if an athlete’s psychological incentives are not well-placed, his or her performance will suffer. While there are many psychological factors that can influence an athlete’s performance, one of the most important determinants of an athlete’s success and performance lies in what persuades him or her to play the sport. In every sport there are risks of injury, and for professional athletes, these risks associated with sports mean they could potentially lose their career, which took them years and years of practice and sacrifice, any second. This is where the importance of their psychological mindset is reflected. If an athlete plays a sport solely or primarily for extrinsic value such as respect, fame, money, prices, competition, compliance, or ego involvement, his or her performance will suffer eventually because, what is supposed to be a game, will become work. What was once fun to do will then represent a danger, a risk of losing that luxury lifestyle, fame, or recognition. If a player fears the game he or she will not be confident, and that lack of confidence will be seen on their field or court performance. However, if an athlete’s sole or primary incentive to play the sport lies on intrinsic motivators such as mastery, autonomy, passion, belonging, self-knowledge, curiosity, or love, such athlete will be much more likely to perform well and improve their play, because they are there because they love the game, regardless of the fame, high salary, and recognition being a professional athlete brings them. As research has proven, while financial compensation can be a reliable motivator for athletic performance, it also has the potential to detriment it, especially in situations where the athlete’s position in the team

Imagine being late, your car stops, and you are missing important things that you will need for work in less than twenty minutes. Everyone has had those unlucky moments that usually continues to get even worse. In most cases, this one bad day could lead to many other bad situations and causes a lot of people to become unhappy or angry at everyone. These people lack what is called optimism. Optimism is hopefulness or confidence for a successful outcome of something. What I believe as opposed to the dictionary definition is that optimism has many different definitions and meanings behind it. Optimism is more about masking, forgetting bad moments, being happy, confident, and learning how to make others more optimistic.
Seeing the bright side of things is something that makes just about everything a better situation. No matter what kind of situation I am in, I try to see the positive. To me, I do not see any good in looking at the negative. Dwelling on the bad in life will just continue to keep you in a bad mood and will not let you succeed at what you are doing. One bad day can sometimes keep you down for weeks and
Positivity gives people hope and the motivation to keep going, therefore it is generally favoured over negative thinking (pessimism). In fact, there has been substantial scientific research done in various cultural contexts that proves that optimism, in its many myriad forms, is related to better outcomes with regards to coping, satisfaction and
