Twitter is a social media app that is on the rise right now. Twitter can be seen as a modern day Facebook; the concept is the exact same but there are a few differences. Twitter lets their users posts their thoughts in 140 characters or less, and that is called a “tweet” (very similar to a status update in Facebook). These “tweets” can include photos, a GIF, or a video. Like Facebook you can share this information to your “Facebook friends”, but in this case it’s called your “followers”. Instead of adding people you know, you are able to follow random people which means random people have the ability to follow you. You also have the ability to “retweet” (similar to “sharing” something on Facebook) and “favorite” (similar to liking something on Facebook) other accounts tweets. You also have the ability to direct message someone on the app. The app has 310 million month active users, but a total of 1.3 billion accounts have been created. The should be Christian values and leaders in a social media to lead and guide your teenager in the right direction. There should be multiple accounts that have different types of Christian values like; scripture, encouragement, words of wisdom, bible stories, and a fellowship. Twitter can meet these standards in its app. Even though there are inappropriate accounts and materials throughout Twitter, if you look hard enough you will find appropriate Christian accounts to follow. Finding Christian accounts in twitter is like finding a flower in a patch of weeds. There a multitude of bad accounts on twitter, but once you find the good one it is relieving and nice. There are multiple accounts that fit each one of these categories to help uplift and lead Christian teenagers in a social media generation. I personally follow a few very good accounts that are still trendy but do not drift away from the Word of God. Some of these accounts are @HoodJesusYo, @SheReadsTruth, and @_ChristianHumor (“Twitter, Inc.”, 2016). These accounts are great examples of accounts that are not just verses being posted; they post appropriate funny content that any age will
Twitter is an online social networking service that has grown to a global scale. In 2006, it was created for people to be able to share short blurbs of information with each other, and it has done its job quite well. However, like most technologies, there comes consequences, good and bad, that many didn’t intend, or expect, to happen. Tweeting has remained the most appropriate and influential method of creating an influential personality. Although posting photos and videos on instagram and youtube attract a great number of followers globally, Tweeter is still the best

Social media is a revolution, which we are currently experiencing. It has changed the way people communicate and interact with one another, and opens up many more avenues to share news, information, and just general chit chat. Social media is relatively quiet young, but is here to stay for the foreseeable future. We are now at a point where online, we can share, read and react to lots of individual information being posted on microblogging websites, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr and more. Twitter in particular has been widely embraced, and will centre most of the discussion.
As a result of all of this information I have provided to you, there are more cons then there are pros when it comes to social media for kids under the age of 13. It is safe to wait until the child is the appropriate age to allow them on social media. Children under the age 13 should be more into school or natural play than social media. This can affect them a lot so please take my advice and wait until they are older so all of the cons can be avoided. When they are older they will be smarter, and able to understand what and what not to do.

There has been controversy as to whether parents should limit the use of social media by teenagers. Teenagers feel that there is no need to limit the use of their social media networking, but on the other hand, parents should feel the need to limit their use and also keep track of their teen’s social networking. Social media allows students to be connected with their peers, teens who post positive status are more likely to be involved in extracurricular activities, and for many teens putting up “selfies” is a self confidence boost; however, too much social media can affect students GPA in school, cyber bullying can affect social health. Social media networks can give out personal information. Social media sites such as Facebook are one of the most popular social media sites that has 700,000-750,000 members joining each day.

It is undeniably changing the way one communicates and how one finds and shares information. Most websites offer communication through the use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and many various blog formats. With new apps on smartphones and photography and video made digital, media can be created, edited and shared quickly and once it is in this new digital cloud it is not yours anymore. Through these new advances in technology one can share things about themselves to the world to view, and prior to social media one would have to communicate and share physically. These social media site offer adolescence new ways to access communication and entertainment and the long-term effects are still unknown. For this reason, it is imperative for parents to be more aware of this new media and what it offers both good and bad for our children.
Social media is described as content created and shared by individuals on the web using freely available websites that allow users to create and post their own images, video and text information and then share that with either the entire internet or just a select group of friends (Affilorama, 2012). They are more like a website allowing you to express your daily activities, beliefs, locations, likes, dislikes, photos, music, etc. They are used by creating a profile, and logging in through either the website, or apps now used on smartphones, or any portable device with Wi-Fi connection. Although most social media networks are directed towards adults and young adults, young children are getting into these websites as well. There are usually age limits but there isn’t a certainty that all the users provided their actual age, allowing whoever wants to be a member of these sites to bypass an age limit “security” procedure. Facebook and MySpace require users to be at least 13, but they have no practical way to verify ages, and many young users prete...
