Richard L. evans said “don’t let life discourage you everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was.” this quote inspired me to chase after my dreams no matter small they are. My three dream accomplishments are to become a professional skater. Growing up to play in the nba, or being a swat team member. I chose these dreams because these three careers can provide for a family. One way a nba career can help is the average nba player makes five million a year and that’s more than enough money to live on. Skateboarding is also a good and fun thing to do because it get’s you traveling. Being a swat team member is a good career to have because it’s a job that helps people. According to livestrong.com, only 3 out of 10,000 high school players actually make it to the NBA. If you do not get drafted, then you cannot play college basketball and that just ruined your dream of ever playing professional basketball. Though, most players do not think about what they will do after the NBA. The money would be great, who would not want millions of dollars for playing basketball? Though, like I said early most NBA players go broke within five years after leaving the league. On average most college degrees take five or six years to get and how will they pay for it if they do not have the money. They are supposed to be adults and some parents will not help their kids. As a little kid, I think everyone has had a dream or goal to become a professional ball player or celebrity. The reason kids set these goals, because it is considered cool to be a professional ball player or celebrity. Also, those careers pay a lot of money for the things people love to do: play. For some, they do not care what it will take for them to achieve those goals and dreams. My dream was to become a professional baseball player, but I needed to focus on my education more.

There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. There are many reasons why I want to become a coach in the future, they range from the love of the sport to just being born with a coaching mentality. My father installed a coaching personality into me when I was young and I had no clue why he was doing it. As I grew older it came more visible when young kids in the elementary looked up to me as a role model on the court/field and wanted to learn from me. I really found out that I enjoyed coaching when I was reefing a sixth grade boys basketball game a few years ago. After I returned home that evening I looked back and realized that I had so much fun teaching those kids the rules and helping them become better players.
One reason why is because you can learn and get a lot of new experiences. You only go to school and home everyday then you don’t get to learn new things like how to play them correctly also the experiences playing them. This example shows that you should go out for sports to get to learn and make a lot of wonderful experiences. I believe that because I have learned and made a lot of experiences in the years I have played sports.

The CEO of the Make-A-Wish foundation even stated that, “Michael Jordan is one of the all-time greatest athletes, but he is an even better person,” said David Williams, “He has changed the lives of hundreds of wish kids and their families for the better, and for that, we are forever grateful” (Christensen). If the CEO of Make-A-Wish can say that Michael Jordan is a better person than a basketball player, and then he must be quite the person considering how dominate of a player Jordan was.
When you look at a basketball what do you see? Most would see an orange, sphere, shaped rubber ball. There are black lines and real leather. If you look closer, you would even see the size of the ball in which you are playing with. A basketball could be just a toy for many, or even represent a release for others, but for me, it means a lot more. A basketball represents my blood, sweat, tears, passion, sacrifice, and most of all, a sense of belonging, like a family. At this moment in my life, there are only three things I devote my life to- family, friends, and basketball. Basketball has shaped my life probably more than anything else. Basketball has instilled in me a vicious will to achieve and embrace my ambitions instead of fearing them. Basketball gave me an open opportunity to try something new. New opportunities and experiences are not such a big deal anymore. From academics to personal matters, the lessons that I have learned from basketball has impacted my life.
Basketball is one of the interesting sports I have always wanted to engage myself; even as a little child.
